The Ballroom Bowl Bar Bistro

What an incredible night!!! Our company hosted a get together at the ballroom on June 15^th. The event could not have gone smoother. Our glasses were never empty and bellies were full! The food was delicious. Team members from the ballroom made some great suggestions which were quickly gobbled up. The staff were absolutely lovely! What an incredible team!
When we first got to venue we were greeted by manager Jen, a friendly and organized representative who was able to direct our team to the appropriate areas where our event was scheduled as well introduced us to the other servers/​hostesses.
Katie and Maria took the cake as our wonderful servers for the night. Our bills were all managed efficiently. Everyone felt attended to. Incredible suggestions were made. What great teamwork! On top of all of that they were pleasant, helpful and friendly!!! I can’t wait until we see them again!
Last but not least we were introduced to assistant general manager, Grace. Grace was professional, friendly, efficient and more! It was evident that she made sure we were properly attended to and somehow in this big city made sure that our group felt at home. Communication leading up to the event was seamless. It was everything we expected and more. I could not have asked for a better night.
Thank you thank you thank you to all the other helpers which did their jobs wonderfully. It is clear everyone works together here and I cannot wait until we host our next event at the ballroom!!!

Omg ewww! This place is horrible! I found hair on my burger and no one bothered to correct it! Never going back! Honestly feel like puking right now

Watched the Raptors game on the patio with a few friends. The waitress was really nice, but she disappeared from the section for quite a while. Could tell that she was super busy with running several tables at once. Will definitely be back there, maybe when it isn’t as crowded. Great atmosphere even though Raptors lost!

I went to the Ballroom to watch a Raptors game. Although the place was not full, the experience was awful. Hostess was on the phone and didn’t care about our presence. It took them 20 minutes to offer us drinks and the food took over an hour. We ordered the chocken wrap with fries; wrap was diagusting and the fries soggy. I don’t recommennd it and obviously won’t be coming back.

All the stars in this review go for the amazing service and charming rooftop patio.
The disappointments were the food — which came out cold and the drinks which were solid but nothing to write home about.
I think this is a good place to come with a group bc the service is so lovely and they have a huge menu of drinks. Skip the food though!

The unfortunate moment, when you compliment a female staff, and that means you are too intoxicated. Even though the bouncer says you are completely competent. This is highly prejudiced and discriminatory on the part of the staff of this establishment. ** it also should be noticed that i was completely cooperative with the staff, and made no actions to create a scene.

This place was a MESS. Vomit and grossness and spilled. Rude staff. Horrible music. I don’t think we even stayed five full minutes before deciding to find somewhere a little less horrible.

Ballroom is a cool place to hang out and have lots of fun but not much of a bowling alley.
Located right near Toronto’s entertainment district, I’ve been to Ballroom a number of times both for professional events and fun/​drinks with friends on my own. With two floors, Ballroom has a bunch of bowling alleys downstairs and a large restaurant, bar, pool table, ping pong and dance floor upstairs.
The food at Ballroom is standard pub style food that neither impressed or disappointed me. I thought everything met my expectations.
The atmosphere and activities are the highlight. The place can get pretty lively on Friday or Saturday nights at times with the upstairs being as packed as a club (but no cover!). They usually will have live music or a DJ on, and with the dance floor and be a fun place to spend your night. The bowling however is subpar. Don’t come here expecting to do real bowling as the lanes are not standard and the prices are fairly outrageous (upwards to 70 $ per hour + shoes + tax on the popular nights).
Overall a fun place that I’ve visited a few times and would likely visit again.

So, I was here for the Super Bowl. For $ 25, there was a buffet, draws, $ 4 Bud tallcans, free soft drinks and 1 hour of free bowling (shoe rental $ 5).
This place is HUGE. Lots of TVs, comfy seating; there wasn’t a bad seat in the place. Hell, the bathroom was almost the size of my condo. :P
The buffet was ok. Nacho station, pasta station, sliders, hotdogs, chili: standard Super Bowl food. Nachos were the best out of the lot… house made chips, nacho cheese and the chili was really good.
Service was pretty good considering how packed the place was. She started remembering our names after awhile. :P
We wanted dessert, but there was no dessert at the buffet. We asked our server and she was able to get us a dessert menu. We got the Ice Cream & Caramel Wrapped Crunch. It was cake wrapped in a sugar tortilla and deep fried then covered in caramel. It was ok. The tortilla and caramel were great, but I neither of us could tell there was cake inside. Definitely a sugar rush tho!
They have a lot of events there, so it would be interesting to visit when there isn’t an event. The menu looks promising!

Reserved some lanes for a team event. The lanes were awful. It had a slant and the pin setter keeps on breaking. The food was ok. Calamari was almost burnt. Spinach and artichoke dip was watery. A couple of saving graces. The burger was pretty good. I had the double heat. The crispy jalapeño in the burger was awesome. The onion rings with a chipotle dip was also good. Service was not bad either. Our hostess was very good in keeping us informed with our minimum spend. Overall not the best experience however.

Came here for a company event with food and open bar. Food was served buffet style but was pretty good, especially since I had very low expectations. The place has an interesting concept of drinking/​eating and having it’s own bowling alleys. It’s a fun spot to host a company event, not sure if I’d want to go there on a regular though, bowling isn’t my thing.
Definitely would return though for a group event.

The concept of bowling with drinks, food and big screen tvs is great. Amazing idea for work socials, group gatherings, birthday celebrations.
The best part about the place is definitely the large screen tvs for the big game.
Food: they have a diverse menu and lots of good finger food. The salads are quite tasty actually. We also had some nachos with lobster guacamole which was quite fancy. The chunks of lobster was actually quite significant. The calamari was not over fried and was chewy.
Bowling: the actual bowling experience is below average. Since it is in the heart of the entertainment district, prices are above average and the width of the lanes are narrower than average. Also, bowling IT system breaks down in the less used lanes and my friends and i found that the lanes are slightly slanted to the right in some lanes.
They have a good selection of different weighted balls and an adequate supply of shoes.

I’ve only been here once, but I think it’s a cool concept, having a bowling alley/​bar/​restaurant downtown. Obviously you’re not going to expect gourmet food here, but I think you can expect to have a pretty decent time overall. Rates are pretty reasonable, ranging from $ 40/​hour for a lane (8 bowlers max) to $ 80/​hour on a Saturday night after 5 pm. Basically if you can get enough people to fill a lane, at most you’ll be paying $ 8 for an hour of bowling, plus $ 5 for shoe rentals. Not bad for downtown entertainment, I think.
I ended up eating here with a large group the last time I was here as well, and we sat in the back room upstairs. The service was a little slow (i.e. the food took quite a while to come out, plus some people got theirs noticeably earlier than others), but that might have been due to the Jays playoff game going on/​many patrons in the restaurant. I indulged that night and got the bacon grilled cheese burger which was TWO beef patties stacked between TWO grilled cheese sandwiches and topped with cheese and bacon (helloooo cheat day!) I have zero regrets about what I ordered, but did note that the beef patties were pretty dry and kind of cardboard-​y. Luckily my burger was saved by the grilled cheese sandwiches which added some extra moisture and flavour to the whole thing, although by the end of it I felt like it started to get a bit too salty. Some of my other friends also agreed with the «too dry burger» assessment (and unfortunately no one else had the grilled cheeses to balance it out, so they REALLY thought it was dry), so it seems to be a pretty consistent thing.

I had dinner while watching a jays game at the Ballroom. I liked the atmosphere at the place, and the bowling component was definitely unique. The service was a bit slow, but it is understandable due to the playoff game happening.
I had the backyard burger, which included a beef patty and bacon. I was under the impression it would be crunchy bacon, but it ended up being more like a piece of ham. I wasn’t a fan of the burger, I thought it was a bit dry.
I also ordered the waffle sandwich as desert; the ice cream was good — but that’s the only good thing I could say about it. The waffle batter was very very dense and bland? to the point where I couldn’t finish it. My friend ordered another desert (fruit skewers) and it also did not live to expectations. I would recommend staying away from desserts if ordering!

Well I came here for a work event yesterday. I thought this was just a bowling alley, but it’s a pretty nice venue. It had some pool tables and a good patio.
Our company (200+ people) had the entire 1^st floor booked. The bartenders were friendly and it was fairly clean. The food was fairly decent too. Good place to host a company event.

After eating and bowling at Ballroom several times before, my recent visit was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant.
I went with some friends after a Blue Jays game (go Jays go!) and should have taken note when most restaurants were packed with fans, but Ballroom was almost empty.
We were met with mediocre service from the hostess, who was giving out discount coupons for eating there post-​game (again, should have taken all the cards on the ground as a bad sign).
We sat on the patio upstairs. Our server, who was pleasant at first, took our drink orders first. The patio had about 20 people on it, but the indoor dining area was nearly empty (maybe 6 people).
It took about 15 minutes for water and drinks to arrive. Fine, we were chatting anyways. The waitress dropped off the drinks and sped off instead of taking the stacked menus as a sign we were ready to order.
We waited and chatted… 10 minutes… 20… We asked a waiter if he could grab our waitress, or take our order himself. «Sure, I’ll go grab her.»… 15 more minutes pass with no sign of her.
It started to rain heavily so we all moved inside. Again, not a ton of people indoors and many staff. We sat and patiently waited for service while other patrons had to go up to the bar to ask for refills of water. If it weren’t pouring rain outside we would’ve paid and left long ago!
I finally spotted our waitress and walked over to her to tell her we’d been waiting over 40 minutes to order food. She was somewhat apologetic. She took our order of food and drinks.
The food came– i wish it made up for our wait, but it didn’t. I ordered the chicken wrap which I would describe as more of a Caesar sauce wrap, lacking chicken, and which came with chilly, limp fries. At this point we wanted to get out of there, so after she forgot two of our drink orders and cleared our plates, we asked for the bill.
I’ve been to Ballroom for bowling, friend’s birthdays and to eat when they used to have a great, peppery mac and cheese. I don’t know what’s happened over the past year, but after our experience I won’t be returning or recommending the restaurant to any of my friends. If anything I’ll dissuade them from visiting unless they want somewhere dry to sit during a thunderstorm!

Came in over the weekend for drinks and apps with friends. INCREDIBLY expensive !!! We felt as though we were ripped off — 20 $ for a burger and fries is faaarrrr too much, especially for this place. Our table was sticky and disgusting. The servers are not friendly, we got passed between 2 servers — the one who served us most was named Monica — TERRIBLE attitude, she made us feel as though we were rushing her or bothering her when all we were trying to do was spend our money and have a good time !
I will never go back there again unless I feel like being ripped off again.

Came here for a group social and it’s the best bowling place I’ve ever been too. The place is pretty big with a bowling, dining, and bar area. There are TVs literally everywhere, making it a great sports bar. The bowling area is really comfortable, with couches and actual furniture instead of just tables and stools like you’d see at average bowling centres.
We ordered a lot of food and from what we ordered, I’d definitely recommend the feta bruschetta flatbread and the doughnuts.
We got wings, but they didn’t taste fully cooked. We also got nachos, but they were cold almost immediately after they were served.
Aside from the food, I really like the energetic atmosphere here and the service is pretty good. I went with a large group and we ordered at least 20 trays of food. They were able to accommodate us with extra tables and meet all of our requests/​orders without making mistakes/​delays. However I went on a Thursday and it was already really crowded in the bowling area so I can imagine weekends probably get really busy.

To all the folks who just want to drop-​in for beers, here’s my review:
It’s very crowded, a lot of standing area. This venue is half «bistro» area (dinner tables) and half standing area. Early in the evening, the tables are full. A lot of date-​only tables, a few booths for small parties. But if you come with a group of friends (again, this is a «beer night» review), tough luck. You’re mostly standing.
There is a stage for live music and a live band. Two back-​to-​back bars so you never have to wait very long. The band is very loud, the crowd is very loud. Music is very loud. Eventually it becomes a «let’s stand in front of the band with my beer» night.

OK and there is ONE foosball and ONE pingpong table. So you can imagine 4 people per table, that’s 8 people out of 80 people actively playing. What are the 72 people doing? Well, there are couches. Surprisingly spacious even though we have to stay away from the drunk and vicious pingpong players.
Washrooms are big! quite clean.
Therefore Ballroom deserves an A-​OK rating, but I must conclude that Ballroom cannot be a «let’s go for beers» venue. It’s more like a «night out to mingle with the crowd» venue WITHOUT clubbing, without cover/​entrance fee, and without dressing up. Which is still cool. My friends spent a birthday here, dinner at a table, then they danced the whole night. My other friends were celebrating the weekend, relaxed, had beers, enjoyed music, played foosball, held their girlfriends.
The first thing out of my mouth when I arrived was, «I’m too old for this!!!»

A very large place with a huge bowling area, a small dance floor, lots of Tvs and a fully functional restaurant and bar.
I was meeting up some friends for a meal. They host at the door was very friendly and took us upstairs. The server was good and friendly as well.
The overall food was over priced but the portions were huge. There was no actual taste in food. We had Fried chicken with Mash Potato and Coleslaw and Fish and chips. Now the portions were huge but the taste wasn’t their.
Over all clean place, huge portions, good place to chill with friends, good serve but no taste in the food itself!
