The Hot Duck

One of the few Duck specialty stores in the area.
The Hot Duck is a small shop that sells every part of the duck that you could imagine (except the delicates…). They offer items like gizzards, kidneys, wings, feet, and neck. They also have boiled pork hocks as well. The place is similar to Kung Fu Duck near Finch and Midland, but there was a clear difference.
For the Hot Duck, I can only comment on the neck (which I enjoy the most as a snack anyways). Though I like Kung Fu Duck’s necks more, the Hot Duck definitely had a good product. The duck necks were freshly cooked and were very hot (temp wise, not spice-​wise, although it did have a small bit of a kick). The duck necks were meaty and though they were fresh, the seasonings could have been used more heavily. That being said, I still enjoyed it enough to get $ 10 worth… I thought the aroma was incredible and the necks had a good chunk of meat with every bite.
The ladies here are superbly friendly and let us have samples of some of the other fare they had on sale. Though we didn’t go ahead and purchase some of the items, it was nice to sample so that we could come back and get a bagful of it. Definitely give this place a shot if you love duck necks as snacks as much as I do.

This Hot Duck branch is missing a little Je né sais quoi when I felt a vibe walking inside. This vibe is probably the same 6^th sense that make me put this Duck Specialty Shop on the last of my to-​visit destinations.
This Hot Duck is not within a Chinese Plaza like it’s sister and the standing Fridge really disappointed me the most. Fridge which I was expecting the same experience from the other location was not for items of sale at this one but more for what the staff needed to frost for their meals.
The second disappointment is that on the VERY limited menu it didn’t show Duck Tongue anywhere. In a Chinese Duck Specialty Shop, you have Duck Heads what are you doing with the Tongues?
There is good that came from this sister branch and that was the Duck Neck ($ 2.49) although had the same somewhat A-​OK flavour, it was slightly lower cost than the $ 2.99 up North. 2.5’d

I was a little disappointed that they don’t have duck tongue… so we settled for duck neck ($ 2.49).
I don’t know should I put «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Since The Hot Duck is the first ever duck neck experience I have…
I found there is not much spiciness in it, which is a little disappointing and the neck does look dry… ok I know know it suppose to be dry and meatless and one just nibble on the neckbones and suck on the flavours. but sorry Hot Duck’s neck is either hot or has much flavour to suck on!
