I’m currently chilling in The Little Video Shop on Baldwin, using their new free wi-fi and sipping a latte. It’s a really cute place to get a bit of work done and everyone is sooooo friendly. I love the decorative fish & the movies in the background that serve as ambient music(edit to add; right now, it is the King’s Speech scene where Colin Firth swears to help with the stuttering and it is amazing.). Being students, my roommates and I could never bring ourselves to getting the membership, but we often came for gelato. In fact, the following happened on our first visit: us: OMG I’m short a dollar. Sir, we live really close, our one roommate will run home to get the dollar, we’ll stay here. presumed shop owner: «don’t worry, you can pay next time» We ran home to get the dollar, of course, but such a cool vibe. Come enjoy.

Another reason why I love Baldwin. Not only is this a good video rental store with a good selection, it’s also home to delicious homemade gelato! Many a times have I come in here just for the cold treat! To become a member you need a $ 20 deposit and video rentals are around the $ 5 mark. The exact cost escapes my memory and also for how long you can rent it for, but I think it was for one week. The people running the store are very friendly and are always willing to give feedback on movies or commend you on your selection :) Like Deanna says each DVD does have a small review attached and that always helps! Just another detail in to the effort they make to make sure you return home with something you will enjoy! It’s small and cozy and a very cute sight to behold when walking past. If you live around this area, you definitely need a membership to this very fine establishment!

I was walking down the tail end of Baldwin street one night and stumbled upon a movie being projected from a local shop. Though darkly lit, I walked a few more paces and discovered it was coming from a video shop-the little video shop of Baldwin! They have a great selection of movies here from the trashy guilty pleasure Hollywood types to high end cinema, documentaries, foreign films, T.V. series etc. What’s also great appreciated is that most every film in store has a review attached to it either from NOW magazine or a personalized written review from one of the store’s workers. The staff are quite friendly here and don’t hesitate to offer an opinion about what’s good, uplifting, sad or heavy. Plus there’s popcorn available for free and there’s also a selection of candies, teas and gelato for movie goers that like to have treats on hand. There’s also movie specials from Monday to Wednesday.
