Love the mojitos. Its not too loud so you can have conversations. The décor is nice. Service is very friendly. I would definitely come back.

This place is a scam and a waste of money. If you like drinking very expensive water in a pretentious atmosphere, while the creepy door guy lurks over you, be sure to come here. If you like having a good time, or value your money, by all means go somewhere else. My guess is any positive review is fake or the owner’s friends. Experience on Saturday, Nov 21

Gord and I both like rum so were excited to hear that the Rum Exchange was opening.
We tried a few times to check it out. The first time we went, it hadn’t opened yet. The second time, it didn’t open ’til 10pm. The last time, they had an event happening. We were determined and finally did last night. Yay!
It’s nice inside.
They have 80 rums in stock! The most expensive one is this Brugal at $ 100 an ounce.
We sat at the bar and chatted with Rumen, the owner. He’s a nice guy and he knows rum!
We tried a couple rums we’ve never heard of before. Rumen put them in cute glasses and we drank (sipped) them straight, which I don’t usually do.
If you enjoy rum or want to learn more about it, you definitely want to check out this place!

Great spot and concept. Love the selection but would be better served if we had a tasting menu for the rum choices. I would strongly recommend going with the Eldorado 12 year (neat or go light on the rocks) if you have never had it and love rum. If you know your rum, 21 year is exquisite. 25 year is $ 50 and up depending on the bottling year. After work or earlier evening spot to begin your adventures.

What I love most about the Rum Exchange is the fact its away from the hussle and bussle… especially the drama that goes on in the entertainment district.
The owner of Rum Exchange was the original owner of Pravda Vodka Bar, and its no surprise that this place screams class! The interior is beautiful, clean, contemporary, with lovely chandaliers, wall décor and comfy seating in all areas of the venue with a larger booth at the back where the DJ booth is nearby. The choices of RUM vary, but they do serve a small selection of beers and other spirits on hand if Rum isn’t your drink of choice. Whether you’re here for after work drinks, or party the ambiance provides an intimate setting that’s unique.
To go along with our drinks, our private party ordered trays of various finger foods; from gourmet pizzas, and olives/​cured meats to fries with graded cheese and served dipple of chipotle along with garlic bread. Overall the food was awesome! and it definitely complimented the bottles of Rum and Vodka we ordered.
Rum exchange is definitely a go to place in the financial district, Rumen… Roman is very personable, honest, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure every patron is satisfied! I would recommend this place!

Located in the financial district. It has a nice distinct look, reminiscent of an old bar in the Wild West. It has barrels as tables which is cool. The atmosphere is cozy and great for intimate groups. As this is the rum exchange you can expect there to be many types of rum.

Perfect lounge, before your club destination. Nice selection on drinks (mostly rum) reasonably priced and nice snacks.

Great atmosphere for happy hour. The drinks were exceptionally cheap! service was good and the food was delicious! space is very limited abut overall very good.

Located one street from Queen station, this place is small-​moderate sized lounge restaurant with a full bar. The atmosphere wasn’t bad but the music could be a bit louder (so I can dance to it too!). Moreover, they generally have a lot of standing area as well as side seating. Their chairs are squishy and comfortable. However, there are only two couches at the back of the lounge under a projector screen.
Their bar had around two people tending to it. I ordered a Mojito and it was pretty good — loved the taste and combo, only weird part is that they decorated it with a raspberry and strawberry on top haha. The service was decent — nothing too special.
Overall, this place is not bad especially to host an event. The only downside is that their coat check area (simply just hanger hooks) may not be enough for everyone to use.

One of my favourite spots in the city.
Convenient downtown location, I never realized the wide selection and flavour profiles of rum until I visited.
Of course, the person that started the vodka craze in the city is the same person that now owns The Rum Exchange.
Though the place is ornamentally-​chic (google their Facebook page) and you’d assume pretentious and soulless like any downtown locale — Rum Exchange has a great warm ambience and vibe.
A great place to meet & mingle, it’s not unusual to meet or network new people … hmmmm … business & pleasure … a novel concept!

I really enjoyed the Cuba Libres and other rum based drinks. The owner gave us some complementary shots and we also had some type of rum to dip the tips of our cigars in and sit right in the front of the bar and smoke them. Good vibe and rum selection.

I’m one of those people who really enjoy learning about spirits — scotch, tequila, vodka, rum, gin. I drink most neat or on the rocks because I enjoy the flavour of the actual drink and I’m used to paying premium prices for premium spirits.
With this in mind, I was looking forward to my after-​work drink at the The Rum Exchange. I’d learned a little bit about rum in the past so I know there are some really wonderful sipping rums available.
When I arrived at The Rum Exchange I thought it was cute enough. Upon approaching the bar I saw they had 20 — 30 types of rum displayed up on the wall but there was no menu with tasting notes to be found. I asked for the rum menu and a menu was slid over to me but it merely showed a handful of rum-​based cocktails and some food. No rum list. No tasting notes.
Not being into mixed drinks and not having the information I needed to try a new rum that would be enjoyed neat, I asked if they had any scotch. The male bartender held up Jameson’s. Not to be a snob, but Jameson’s is an Irish Whiskey. «So, you don’t have scotch?» «Ya, we have this.» «Right then, I guess I’ll take it on the rocks.»
And then he charged me $ 12. For an ounce of Jameson’s. The same price as his cocktails, which one would expect to be more expensive than the least expensive whiskey on the market. $ 12 is completely reasonable for a premium spirit but not for a rail brand.
Seems The Rum Exchange is just jumping on the single-​spirit trend but they haven’t taken the time to educate themselves well enough to educate customers.
