The TechKnow Space

Upon dropping off my cracked iPhone the gentleman behind the counter said it would be $ 99 to repair. When I picked it up it came to approximately $ 160. I now see on the website that this is the actual price but am confused why I was quoted so much less? But I digress, that is not my main issue. Exactly two weeks to the day after having my screen repaired I took it out of my bag and noticed a crack right across the screen. I have a case, there was nothing else in the pocket to scratch or damage the screen. When I took it back the lady behind the counter informed me that because my frame was bent (as it was when I initially dropped it off) there was no warranty and in fact, ‘the screen breaks a lot easier’. I was not warned of this when picking up my phone or told to put on a specific case, as the lady then suggested after refusing to fix my once again broken screen. Very quick repair but clearly not quality parts, check to make sure whatever service you have done is under their very limited warranty.

Affordable, great service, open 9 am to 8pm and quality work.
I dropped my iPad off with a cracked screen first thing in the morning and got a text message just after lunch saying it was ready. The work was flawless, there were no imperfections to indicate the screen had been replaced. Nice work, guys ! I couldn’t ask for better service.

Don’t bother going here if you need to fix a cracked screen. I came to these guys to get the glass replaced for my Note 4, and was told that, unless I agreed to let them replace the underlying screen as well ($ 250), they didn’t want my business. I guess that they only do business with those that have lots of money and don’t know anything about the item they want fixed. I can only imagine what they would charge me if I actually brought in a big ticket item…

I really wanted to give this place a good review, especially after reading all of the other reviews posted.
My laptop stopped working last week and I needed it to be fixed as fast as possible. When I checked online, I realized that tech know space had the best review, and quite a fast turnaround time so I decided to pay them a visit and enquire about fixing my laptop. I explained to the front desk exactly what was wrong with my laptop and mentioned that the screen is most likely not an issue due to the fact that I got a quick screen testing done with the manufacturing company (Dell).
The front desk told me that the cost for diagnostic would be $ 40 and an estimated cost for the screen would be max $ 160~ which I found to be very reasonable. Of course, if the issue wasn’t the screen, it would cost more.
I left my laptop to be fixed on a Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday, I gave a follow up call. They mentioned that it could’ve been a screen issue, and that they ordered a new screen (supposed to be delivered Tuesday/​Wednesday) to see if that was truly the issue. The person on the line told me that they’ll give me a call on Tuesday/​Wednesday to give me a quick update on what happened. Feeling reassured, I left it at that. When Wednesday rolled around, I still didn’t get a phone call. I called back Wednesday to get an update and they told me that they sent the screen to the Mississauga location (instead of the Toronto one) and that it will most like arrive late Friday or early Saturday. Friday rolled around, and still no call. Saturday morning, I called to get an update and they told me they were trying out the screen. Nevertheless, later on that day, I get a phone call telling me that it wasn’t an issue with the screen, and that they didn’t know what the issue was. I honestly felt like there was no purpose to the diagnostic because they made the assumption that it was the screen that had an issue (or the graphics card), and even after the «diagnostic», and more than a week later, they still didn’t understand what the problem was. The front desk told me that it wasn’t worth getting fixed, and that I should purchase a new laptop instead.
8 days, 7 phone calls (all initiated by me) and $ 45 dollars later, the laptop is still broken, and no one still knows what the problem is.
Should have avoided this place and sent it directly to the manufacturer. I can not comment on how well they do for phone repairs but for laptop repairs, I personally won’t be visiting ever again.

I came in here yesterday around 5:15pm with my bf, and we were the only customers in the store. The only employee was on the phone, no biggie. She glanced at us briefly then turned her back to finish her convo (it sounded business-​related). Before she was done another fellow came in, then another. She finally hung up the phone and went directly to the first fellow, ignoring us completely. Didn’t ask who was first, completely disregarding the fact that she had seen me and my bf there first. Fellow #1 was also your typical Toronto d-​bag who gladly butted in line ahead of us without even a backward glance, so we just left.
I can’t even comment on their services because I was so annoyed at this. I’m sure their services are as crappy as the girl’s customer service, so I won’t bother going back.

Shameful customer service. Manager is good, but service staff are useless and incompetent. Not worth it — take your business elsewhere. They could not fix a cracked screen on an ipad mini. I got my money back but couldn’t get back my 4 days of agony with their staff.

TechKnow fixed my power jack in under three hours and gave me a good deal compared to most of their competitors. The girl working the front desk was super friendly and courteous. No complaints whatsoever.

Got an iPhone 5 screen replace, 2 month warranty on the fixed screen, got it done right before closing on a Sunday.

Techknow Space is the best place to take your electronics to be repaired in the downtown core. Location is easy to get to via TTC, great service, they are very knowledgeable and the price was fair. I got it back within 24 hours and it was perfect again.

Great service! Got a laptop screen [acer travelmate] replaced here about 8 months ago on a machine that was about 3 years old. It was still decent and had a new SSD so I paid the $ 175 to get screen replaced when it died on me. 8 months later the screen stopped working, so I took it back to the shop.
They were hesitant at first to take ownership of the repair work or agree that the part was defective, however they did agree to take a second look and diagnose what was wrong. If it was the main board they said no charge since the laptop would be a write-​off at that point. And if it was the screen they would replace it since it didn’t even make it a year.
Turns out it was neither and was just some little connector piece from the LCD to the main board. $ 20 and 24 hours later I picked up my notebook which now has [hopefully] another year of life to get me through until I get a new one. Looking very forward to X-​mas and Boxing day sales this year…

When my phone’s screen died (Samsung Galaxy Note II), I was extremely flustered. I decided to go to techknow space because they had the part I needed in stock and promised a quick, 2 hour turn-​around. I now wish that I had not.
When I arrived, I was informed that only the lcd component of the screen needed to be replaced, and not the actual glass. I was very happy to hear this, because it lowered the cost of the repair significantly, and because my phone’s screen had gorilla glass.
The problems began when I came back after the designated time, and my phone was still not fixed. They told me to come back after an hour and so I did. My phone was still not repaired. I was again told it needed another half an hour, and again my phone was not done. In total, it took twice as long as I was quoted to fix my phone.
However, my biggest issue with the repair is that they ended up replacing the glass on my phone, which I know because the original glass had a small but distinct scratch on it. When I saw my phone I asked about the glass. I was repeatedly assured that it was not replaced, only cleaned. After extensively trying to explain to the woman at the desk and the repairman that they had not used the original glass, I ran out of time and paid and left. I was not charged for the replacement glass.
Over the past two months, my phone’s screen has been chipped and cracked everywhere. I am certain that the glass was replaced because I originally had gorilla glass, which is very difficult to scratch and almost impossible to crack. I now need to replace my phone completely, which will be very costly.
Do not go here just to save time and money, it is not worth it in the long term.
Update: I was contacted by the owner, who told me that there were «inconsistencies in my story» and asked me to retract my review. I cannot do that. They do claim that the LCD only replacement is unavailable for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, but the employees on staff at the time of my replacement gave me very different information. The owner asked me if I had a «ulterior, undisclosed, nefarious motive» for writing this review, but I am simply disappointed in the service and in the attitude of the owner when confronted with this. I would also avoid this place because the owner and his or her staff give very different information. I was also offered a 50% off discount on another screen replacement, but seeing how the first one turned out, I am reluctant to spend anymore money here, or have them do any more work on my already damaged phone. Avoid this place at all costs.

My PS3 ran into some «water issues» (Long story). Dropped it off and within a few hours the verdict was in. Quick and painless. My Z10 had a camera problem (no water this time) and it was fixed within the day. (And wasn’t over charged). Hey… I’m happy.

I was very happy with many aspects of the service I received with regards to staff interactions, promptness, technical knowledge, quality of work, and coat. My iPhone was repaired without any follow up issues.

Just an update to my prior review about a Nexus 4 screen replacement.
Verdict: DO NOT GO HERE!
The proximity sensor doesn’t work; this means the phone is under the permanent impression that I am holding the phone up to my face. During calls, the screen is blanked; I can’t check my calendar, I can’t dial phone extensions, I can’t even end calls.
The front-​facing camera is completely unusable, too. The hole in the glass that it looks through is covered in… I don’t know what, exactly; it looks like maybe a piece of plastic film has melted or something, but the end result is that the camera is blurred to the point that you can’t even really see what it’s pointing at. Thankfully I’m not much of one for selfies, but the occasional Hangouts chat is nice, and that’s no longer possible with this device.
I’m outside the 60-​day warranty, so I’m hooped. I will never EVER take a device back here; they’re rude, they’re expensive, they only barely stand behind their work, and they only barely know what they’re doing.

I only had my nokia lumia 1020 for about 3 weeks when I decided to pretend I was an octopus and do 3 things at once without using the headphones for chatting. I held my phone between my shoulder and ear and surprise, it fell onto the coffee table and then tumbled to the ground. I had dropped my iphone a million times over the years and each time it was dropped, I would hold my breath while turning it over hoping that the break wasn’t so bad. The iphone never broke. The lumia SMASHED. To the point that if I touched the screen the glass would flake off onto my finger.
I called around to compare pricing and repair options and found TechKnow Space to be priced slightly lower than other shops (who were willing to match). The other factor was repair turn-​around time. TechKnow Space claim to be able to fix your phone in 1-​hour. After shopping around a bit, TechKnow has the lower price and fastest fix time. I was skeptical to give this place a whirl based on other reviews, but after calling them and having a neutral conversation I decided to go with them.
I got my phone fixed in 30 minutes (as promised over the phone). The price was as advertised with no hidden costs. The repair also comes with a 60-​day warranty on work completed. I priced this place as «moderate» because it was in-​line with what other shops were charging for the same thing. I was with my infant so it was important for me to get a quick (but proper) repair.
I’m happy I gave these guys a chance.

This place is the worst.
Before going there my phone ran perfectly. unfortunately the glass had been broken for about a month and I decided that the look was a little unsightly. I went in for a routine glass repair and came out with a” bricked” iphone. When i asked for some compensation, they said they weren’t liable because the phone had been dropped previously. (Who has an iphone that hasn’t been dropped before?)
If i were you i’d just keep your screen broken and live with the shame.

Well it finally happened after 3 years of ownership of my iPad 2, i finally dropped it on its face and cracked the screen. I was so tempted to buy a new iPad Air but figured i should spend the 100 bucks to get the screen fixed instead seeing it was the holiday season. Found these guys on the net, and did a drive-​by to ask some questions about price and how long the repair would be. A very nice dude at The TechKnow Space on Front St. was super helpful and said its a same day repair for just $ 119. I was stoked with that info considering i was going out of town to mums for christmas and needed it to survive ;) Long story short, i dropped it off on Mon the 23^rd of Dec and didn’t have time to pick it up same day so picked it up on Christmas eve (bonus is that they were open until 6pm on Christmas Eve!) Net Net: iPad works and looks great, and i received pretty friendly service.
