Description

Specialties

Visit us just once and you will instantly see why there’s nothing quite like the dining experience at The Wine Bar. Some prefer our cozy, intimate tables for two. But you haven’t taken in the full experience until you have watched your meal being prepared — right in front of you — by leading Toronto Chef Bryan Burke. All of our food is served tapas style (small plates) and is made from scratch in house using local, seasonal & sustainable ingredients. Our wine list by the glass has over 30 offerings and the reserve list has just over 300 labels.

History

Established in 2003.

Bryan B.

Business Owner

To quote one reviewer: «Burke’s hallmark style is superb, well-sourced ingredients; simple, straight-forward style and flavour, flavour, flavour!»

Burke’s commitment to local food is evident. He loves doing all his own smoking and curing and demands everything is made from scratch.

By 20, he was a fully certified chef and George Brown alum. Jamie Kennedy was so impressed by Burke’s talent and energy, he made him sous chef of the Wine Bar when he was only 20. At 23, Europe beckoned where he spent a year working in top, Michelin-starred restaurants.

Burke returned to Toronto in 2007 and took on the Executive Chef job at Leslieville Joy Bistro. He then went on to build Reggie’s Old-Fashioned Sandwiches, the much-acclaimed King West shop.

His menus of small plates change daily with what’s fresh and seasonal. Look for artisanal production, classic techniques, masterfully layered flavours and the freshest ingredients to create dishes of distinct flavour — Burke’s speciality.
