Probably the worst place I’ve been to for nails, I got Shellac done. I decided to go before work, as it’s only a 3 min walk away. The person that worked on me, she was impatient, not friendly at all. She rushed through and did a horrible job on my nails. Along the cuticles, she didn’t paint properly at all. Plus they charge $ 30 for Shellac and an additional $ 3.50 if you pay with your debit card. Over priced.
I will never go back again.

The technician was very rude to me. She made my finger bleed while she did regular manicure. She didn’t say sorry but said «miss, your finger is very sensitive.» :I

Went here for a manicure and its was quick, quiet and great! They had no problem making me feel welcomed and comfortable. I was short on time and need to get a quick freshen up. The price is excellent and pay cash so you don’t get taxed. The technician was sociable but knew when to be quiet and let me enjoy the work she was doing. Can’t wait to go back!

Go there regularly for waxing. I always go to Gina. she is really good at her work. very punctual. clean room.overall a good experience

No matter how many times you ask them to trim your nails right down, they leave lopsided, almost as long as when you went in, nails.

I had the most perfect nail polish change here a couple of weeks ago. It cost me $ 10. I went on a weekday morning.
There a lot of hit or miss reviews here… and i think it completely depends on which manicurist you are assigned. The girl I had, her name was Lise or Lisa, and she did such an amazing job. near perfect!

I usually go to Bubble Bath&Spa, but they are closed on Mondays. I was in the area and remembered the place I would usually walk by all the time so I decided to try it.
I walked in at 10:45am, was greeted by a gentleman and after he had asked me THREE times if I was sure I wanted pedi shellac too he finally directed me to the chair by the window.
The lady who was taking care of me was on her cellphone for 10 minutes as she was taking my shellac off. I understand it was still early in the day and it wasn’t busy but talking on the phone very loud frustrated me as she was sitting literally right next me.
While I was waiting, I saw every single employee have breakfast while being on their phones too. This spa has floor to ceiling windows so every single person who walks by could see that it is a café rather than nails spa.
They didn’t hesitate when they talked to each other and it just seemed like the customers were interrupting their conversations and the customers were the inconvenience in their day. Way to make us feel!
No magazines, no tv and my hands are tied and all I can do is watch customer service at this place go to hell. Not ideal environment for someone who works in hospitality industry.
Second customer walks in and asks if she could do mani shellac and at this time one of the employees had set herself up with a newspaper and a yogurt at the reception’s desk. No eye contact no hello no NOTHING. All she manages to say is: choose your colour and hand gestures her somewhere to the left?! The girl wonders around trying to figure out where she was just sent to. Meanwhile all other 6 employees are sitting down minding their own business.
The lady chooses her colour and sits down two chairs away from me and just like me couldn’t find a place for her coat. Please get a coat hanger! I had to put my coat down on my bag which you can imagine doesn’t always work.
The actual manicure and pedicure was good, but the «talking on the phone too loud» lady pulled my skin so it started bleeding and this is my pet peeve. Although I understand it happens, when I pointed it out to the lady who was too busy talking to the receptionist, and asked her to put an alcohol wipe on it so nothing gets infected she abruptly said: «it’s fine!»
Now that I got all the bad out, the lady who was doing my pedi (her name is Ty) was great. She was the only one who smiled, made eye contact and was friendly and also did an amazing job on my shellac pedi.
The place itself is very clean, has nice chairs and nice design and it has so much potential considering the location but sorry got No Time for «Time for Nails and Spa»

I was surprised to see that this place had such low ratings on Unilocal!I went to get a manicure with a friend and had a positive experience here.
We got a regular manicure, which was $ 15, and for the price, we were very happy with the service and how our nails turned out.
Very quick, cheap, and good quality. Nails weren’t entirely perfect, but worth the price. Would come again.

So I spent a few months at sick kids with my baby and in my free time I’d walk the unfamiliar downtown street and come across this salon. I went there several times though I hadn’t had a particularly bad experience but I suppose Befause it was so close, I turned a blind eye to the few things I didn’t enjoy. The building itself is very welcoming, beautiful colours, expensive décor look and an abundance of nail polish colours and coloured nail tips.
Experience #1
So I would usually get the conventional french tips (which wasn’t a perfect look but was good enough considering I did t know anywhere else). I was recommended (by one of the workers) to try the sparkly coloured tips. I tried the purple glitter tips (which were an extra $ 10 by the way) and after she applied the nail, instead of just applying the gel to set the nail, she used her drill to try to file down my natural nail and accidentally ended up filing some of the glitter off the tip. When I looked at it and saw that a few tips had a faint purple colour (because she filed it down) instead of the entire nail being purple glitter, I asked if she could fix it or replace the nail. She assured me that once the gel is on and it sets it will hardly be noticeable. Of course she put the gel on and it was anything but unnoticeable. It was like having french tips with pieces of the white tip filled down until it turned clear. I didnt like it and she told me to remove and replace the nails I will have to pay and extra $ 10. After spending about $ 55 just for a full set that I wasn’t happy with, I went to the drugstore to purchase a bottle of nail polish and painted over so I wouldn’t have to stare at my purple glitter tips with patches of no glitter. Total waste of money.

As if my pervious experience wasn’t bad enough, I decided to go back again because I had an event to attend and yet again, this place was walking distance from me. This time I decided to get a pedicure also because I was offered a «deal». My feet were being done and the girl kept asking if I was interested in getting certain special treatments and I kept refusing knowing that it would be an additional charge. Perhaps somewhere else on earth she was taught that «no» means «yes» and did the treatments anyway. They looked pretty standard to what I was accustomed to so I assumed it was just part of the regular pedicure procedure. While getting the pedicure, another technician came over to start on my fingers. I appreciated the efficiency. However my attention was now focused on my fingers and the woman started filing my toe nails down shorter than I had requested. Of course there was nothing I could do about that at that point so I didn’t complain I just tolerated. As if the first experience with full UV gel set wasn’t bad enough, I decided to try it again. Got the Louis Vuitton tips that looked pretty fly. She stuck the tips on and then realized she was missing a proper size for my pinky so she took a big nail and filled it really poorly to try to fit it on. After she fit it on i thought «okay maybe this can work». She applied the gel and cured it and started using the drill to file it down. She was so invested in talking to her fellow coworkers with her eyes focused elsewhere that she filed a chunk of my cuticle and my finger started bleeding profusely. I ran to the sink to wash the blood off my finger and she sat there waiting at her station as if I was taking too long to wash THE BLOOD OFF MY FINGER DUE TO HER FILING MY FLESH WITH THE DRILL. When I came and sat at the station again, she said continued and it made me nervous whenever she placed the drill to my finger. I couldn’t relax after that, I just wanted to be done. It was done, the bloody mark was visible on my finger and I mentioned it to the manager who offered a $ 5 discount, which I learned later would HARDLY make a difference in the total price because the pedicure was an additional $ 10 for standard treatments I didn’t even know cost extra. I paid almost $ 90 for a bad experience.
I’d rather wear gloves in the middle of summer if my nails aren’t looking so righteous than go back to that place and pay $ 55 for a less than mediocre job. Ladies, don’t let the beautiful decore and ambiance fool you, the professionalism is lacking and you will be highly UNsatisfied.

This place is very inconsistent. When they do a good job it is still not tolerable due to the extremely poor customer service. They are extremely rude and the whole place is very sketchy. For instance, they don’t charge you tax if you pay cash so they don’t have to report it and the staff seem extremely desperate to up-​sell you.
If you get a pedicure they will tell you to get a «better» pedicure, one that is $ 5 – 10 more and say you need to have it done at least once a month… for some reason. They will also try to convince you that you need services like waxing to the point of telling you that you’re hairy. No joke. Last summer I was getting a manicure and the woman tried to tell me I needed to get my arms waxed because they were hairy. I am blonde and have like 3 hairs. If I actually were hairy and someone told me I «needed» to get a wax while doing my nails I would have probably storm the fuck out. Bullying people for money is not cool. ZERO concept of customer service whatsoever.
My last shellac mani there lasted 2 days before I had 3 nails chip and I do nothing with my hands at all. I went back to get it fixed, which I would have been willing to pay for, and they would NOT fix it. I was told they were too busy and I would have to wait 2 – 3 hours even though there were 5 employees just sitting around. I should also note that they sat me down and were ready to do my nails until I said I just wanted to have a few nails fixed. Apparently not worth it to them.
From their sketchy, sketchy practices to their TERRIBLE customer service, I would have to say AVOID this place. Apart from the extremely convenient location, they have nothing going for them.

I enjoyed my pedicure thoroughly. The girl who did my nails was really friendly, did a great job on my nails. I think the negative reviews that people have written are because they got the acrylics. The straight-​up nail polish is great. I’ll be back.

It was a Friday afternoon and the joint was hopping! I had to admit, for $ 40 for a mani-​pedi I was willing to wait and give it a whirl. My sister-​in-​law was seated first so I had to wait a bit longer until the chair beside her was free. No worries. Sitting there, I eavesdropped on the French speaking trio around me. What caught my interest more was the very long massage the one Quebecoise lady was getting on her legs. I have recently been working out a lot and my legs are in a constant knot. I was so excited for my turn!!!
Unfortunately, the woman in charge of my mani-​pedi wasn’t very interested in her job. She kept losing focus to listen to other employees’ conversations (karma for me eavesdropping I guess), The pedicure she gave me was basic at best. Quite frankly, I believe I could have done a much better job myself. And she made my big toe bleed.
Her efforts with my nails was better. By then perhaps she had warmed up a bit to me as she was making some effort to have a conversation.
It wasn’t the worst experience, but I don’t think I’d go back there again.

This spot was recommended by a friend that was a regular before she moved out of town. A mani/​pedi sesh seemed like the perfect way to catch up and indulge in all things girlie while she was here visiting. It’s super central and easy to get to. I checked the reviews before we went and they didn’t seem to align with the experiences my friend had shared with me. I was a little apprehensive but figured I’d give them the benefit of the doubt.
First, the place was seriously bustling for a Tuesday evening. I always figure that’s a good sign. If it was a awful as most of these reviews would have you believe the place would be deserted.
However… My girl had booked us in the back room. So I found it a little odd that they had us sit in what seemed to be a waiting area and a couple of aestheticians plunked down in front of us on stools and began our manicures. This was weird, but from a business perspective really efficient. Why not push through all the customers you can right? Ok, not a big deal. I’m pretty easy but if I was looking for a mega-​pampering experience, this wasn’t it. My friend assured me though that this is not the norm. The aesthetician did a really good job on my nails, so no complaints here.
I soon forgot about the unconventional hallway mani when we were ushered into plush MASSAGE CHAIRS for our pedicures. Hells to the yeah! The cuticle work was thorough and quick. I got the option of getting my heels razored, which I never do, but ok, why not? Good choice. My feet are super smooth now. Again, great job with the polish and did I mention the massage chairs?
For the price ($ 43 with tax and tip) I’ll go back for sure. Based on the other reviews, I’d keep it simple and just do the straight up, au naturale manicure/​pedicure. Maybe don’t get your acrylics or shellacking done here. Definitely ask for the back room if scheduling a pedicure. The massage chairs are really worth it, even if you have to endure a slightly awkward (but totally decent) manicure in the hallway.
I’ve given 4 stars because, frankly, I think they’ve been given a bum rap.

I was a walk-​in at this place. I haven’t had too many experiences with nail salons, so I’m an amateur at this!
What I liked:
+ Providing flip flops/​plastic bags for pedis (I don’t know if all salons do this)
+ Relatively inexpensive for what I wanted (mani-​pedi for $ 35)
+ the colour I got on my nails has stayed, and so far not chipped or anything at all. (it’s been over a week now)
What I didn’t:
+ the estheticians seemed kind of rude at some points, especially where I didn’t know what I was doing as I’d never had a pedicure before
+ it seemed very rushed
+ after my friend and I had our nails done we were left alone for about 25 minutes under the dryers, with no indication of how long we should stay there or help
I would go back because the price was right, but the service was somewhat lacking.
Bring cash. No tax & no debit fees.

So… I’ve decided to write this to warn you all of what you’re about to get into…
1. Went there to get nail polish changed. Charge $ 15 (Say what?)
2. Because the frail thing had to put some elbow grease into the removal she upped the price (after removing almost half of my nail polish). Charge $ 20 (OK fine)
3. While using the drill she managed to file down a nail to the point that when she buffed it, it broke… Here’s the kicker… She filed it down and left it like it never happened. When I said «You aren’t leaving it like that are you?» she said «You want repair?». Charge $ 8
This should tell you how OVER priced this place is… Almost $ 30 for a nail polish change. Might I add, their customer service sucks and the work is mediocre at best!

I only went to this place because it is near my office and I only wanted a quick polish change. Big mistake. And based on these other reviews, there is no point in trying to give the manager any feedback.
The problems:
1) The nail tech hurt my big toe when she was cutting the nail. I actually gasped and had to tell her to stop. She said the problem is that I have an ingrown nail. I don’t actually, and anyway no other nail tech has ever come close to hurting me when cutting that nail. It’s not cool to blame the customer for stuff like that. The tech should know how to deal with it.
2) I got the wrong nail polish colour. How could this happen? Well, when you pick out your colour the nail tech takes if from you and though you may think she is keeping track of it for later, she isn’t. My nail tech had a bunch of polish bottles at her station and I think she just grabbed whichever one when she did my nails. I kept looking at the colour thinking «Is that what I picked? It’s so RED. I never pick red. Maybe it’s the lighting.» Nope. When I got outside in daylight I could see that it was red and not the pink I chose. (I never pick red because it clashes with pretty much all my clothes and sandals.)
3) When I went to sit at the nail-​drying station, the tech brought over my shoes and dumped them on the floor upside down. They were brand-​new and not cheap, so I did not appreciate the carelessness. That shouldn’t happen if the shoes ARE cheap. Set them down on the floor properly.
I now appreciate the service I get at my usual nail place, even though it is a little out of my way and more expensive. The tech actually puts my shoes in my bag for me! She NEVER hurts me and I always get the right colour, because she tidies up her station between customers.
I will NEVER go back to Time For Nails and I will tell all the women in my office how much they suck.

I’m so glad to see this place got a poor review! Wow what is with the lack of good nail salons in the downtown core? They’re all either so overpriced or else dirty.
I use to be a regular of this salon for Shellac manicures – until last night. I went in for a pedi/​shellac mani and was greeted with the usual snarky attitude but that’s their thing. I put my feet into the basin of freezing cold water and when I told the esthetician she rolled her eyes at me and giggled with the other employees. The entire time I could feel tension and definitely knew they were talking about me in their language. To be fair, the pedicure did look great in the end, it was just an uncomfortable process not worth $ 30.
Then my manicurist whose name was Vi came over and started ripping my cuticles to shreds with the cuticle nipper. She was buffing my nails but ended up doing such a sloppy job as she was talking to the lady doing my pedi that she was buffing the skin off my lower nail bed area. At first I didn’t want to complain again (like I did about the freezing water) but then I saw raw skin and my thumb area started bleeding. When I told her to just buff my nails and not my skin, she dropped my hand and stopped doing it altogether.
I went over to the table to continue the Shellac polish once my pedicure was done, and as she applied my colour it was like having a front row seat to a terrible disaster. She applied the colour all over my cuticles and skin, along with managing to get some on my nail. Then she took her sharp nails (which may or may not have had a fungal infection) and dragged them across the skin to remove the excess polish. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling and I’m pretty sure a 5 year old would’ve had better accuracy. I asked her to stop getting colour all over my skin and scraping it off with her nail and use the brush with remover like most salons use, but she gave me a weird look and started chatting to the other lady beside her.
The Shellac colour was all bubbly and bumpy and looked awful. I told Vi this didn’t look right but she assured me once she put the top coat on everything would be fine but I didn’t think so. I’ve had Shellac manicures every two weeks for the past year so this had never happened. Sure enough once the manicure was done it looked really bad. I had colour all over my nail area, it looked smudged and bumpy. I complained again and Vi said «what do you want me to do about it? take it all off and start again?» in a very annoyed tone. On a side note, her English suddenly had a drastic improvement. I said I wanted to come back and redo it because I didnt have time that night and this annoyed her even more. She walked over to the front area and was speaking another language to about 7 girls who gathered there to listen while staring at me.
When I went up to pay it was a bad scene. By then, everyone else in the salon was looking to see what the commotion was about. I said I didn’t want to pay for the service until I came back to have it fixed because I just wasted 1 ½ hours there and told the lady numerous times that she wasn’t doing the service correctly. The owner or manager looked at my nails and told Vi she should’ve known better then to have my nails end up looking like this, so then– and this was the final straw for me– the lady who did my manicure blamed ME for why my nails didn’t turn out right!!! She said I made her stop buffing my nails and then rubbed oil on the nail so the colour didnt take right. First of all I asked her to stop buffing my skin to the point where she drew blood, and secondly I didnt have access to any oil to rub on my own nails. She also used an alcohol swab to remove any excess oil on my nails before she applied the colour. Finally, when I realized there was no reasoning with these idiots I paid for everything ($ 80 for a pedicure, Shellac and under arm wax very overpriced!) after being interrogated by the squad of ladies staring me down at the front.
I got to work today and my co-​worker asked me what the mess on my nails was all about. That prompted me to write this review. I’m also reporting them for not properly cleaning their tools. They reuse nail files which can spread fungus, they don’t wash their pedicure basins between clients and I’ve seen them use the same cuticle tools and nail clippers without first sterilizing them in their Auto Clave which can also spread Hepatitis.
YUCK. PUKE. BARF. this place is gross and they’re all mean. Next time I’m trying Toronto Nails. Wish me luck. I’ll check out the reviews on here.

Our office just moved to this area so I was looking for a new place close to work. I get my nails done frequently so I wanted a place I can establish a rapport with; after happily being at Everest Salon for 7 years.
My first experience was lacklustre: wasn’t told the price of the service until after, and the cashier wasnt v friendly $ 40 even though the price outside said 20% off.
I had my nails shellacked for the first time and I loved it! Quyen (pronounced Queen) did my nails so I decided she will be my aesthetician going forward.
This salon does not put the customer first.
My last visit I asked them to fix 2 shellacked nails. The owner told me I’d already had one fixed and that my nails don’t take to the shellac procedure (this was my third application so there was something faulty with the application this time) so she will not do shellac again. Said she didn’t have room in the empty salon. Also, she wasnt going to allow Quyen to fix my nails. I asked her if I paid her would she do it. She reluctantly agreed.
Shellac is $ 40 for French ($ 35 for colour) and is guaranteed to last 2 wks. Three nails had chipped within a week.
I paid $ 10 to have 2 nails fixed but had no money left for a tip. I felt bad that I couldnt tip Quyen but the manager was so hostile about the service I had to pay for it and didn’t have any cash left.
I’ve since found a salon close to home, Silvertips, which was lovely. Jesse did my nails. It’s not as posh, but it’s less expensive $ 30 for colour, $ 35 French shellac. And much friendlier.
Life is too short and there are too many great salons w professional staff to put up w this place. Do yourself a favor: don’t make «Time for Nails» ;)

I previously had a wonderful review on this place… this all changed on one cold December day. I have been going to this place 1 – 2 times a month since 2003… pretty loyal customer right?
That apparently doesn’t count for anything. I came in for my mani/​pedi and was not advised that their card machine was down and that they were sending everyone for cash next door. I had only brought my Visa as I live in the next building. I said I was going to run home to grab the cash as I didn’t have my debit. They said «no, I had to sit there until someone brought me money». I wasn’t about to have my husband wake up my sleeping newborn and bundle him up for the snowy freezing cold to bring me cash when I could get home and back quicker. It wasn’t my fault their machine was down and not my fault they didn’t tell me until after the services were done.
She said if I wanted to leave, I had to give them a deposit. I calmly asked «how? your machine doesn’t work and as you can see, I have nothing with me but a sweater and a Visa». Plus they had my name and contact details from my «box» which regular customers have. After much heated discussion, I stormed out. I did return later to give them cash, despite the fact that the pedi was ruined since it never had time to dry. They couldn’t care less how they treated me.

Have YOU ever had your nails done by a lady named «Enima»? I didn’t think so!
Walk-​ins are welcome at this Bay/​Dundas salon, and once inside I felt like I had been transplanted to Yorkville. So much plastic, countless pieces of Tiffany jewellery and high maintenance divas. For once I saw more men than women getting their nails done. I don’t know if they were part of a bachelor party or what, but there were half a dozen dudes getting spa pedicures when I came by on a Tuesday night.
CUTICLE WORK/​MISHAPS:
No mishaps, because it wasn’t very thorough. Cuticle work consisted of pushing them back while simultaneously rubbing cream into my hands.
HAND MASSAGE:
Massage was next to non-​existent. I had hardly closed my eyes and it was already over.
POLISH APPLICATION:
Enima’s polish application was decent and when she smudged a few of the nails she wiped the polish off and started all over again. My nails dried well under the standard dryers. Sadly my white mani started chipping after only three days, even though Enima sprayed them with some sort of aerosol formaldehyde concoction as I walked out the door (presumably it was a sealant of some sort). Luckily I love the smell of formaldehyde so I didn’t mind, but the haphazard spraying was a little disconcerting.
EXTRA NOTES:
Magazine selection was decent — lots of current, trashy magazines like Star, In Touch, Hello!, People, US Weekly, etc. Appropriate for the neighbourhood/​clientele.
«Nancy» and «Shelley» seem to be the ladies to see at this nail salon. Several women walked in specifically requesting them and there was a queue to see them. If I’m ever nearby and feel like giving this place another try, I know who to call.
