Tino’s Shoe Repair

With all the good reviews on Unilocal,I decided to visit Tino’s to resole a pair of vintage shoes I recently purchased since Tino’s was only a minute away from my house. The soles were just fine, but I was scared of damaging them with snow and salt in this season.
I first went in to get a quote, and it turned out reasonable. A pair of rubber half soles were around $ 27 – 28, and heel part was around $ 22, so in total it came just under $ 50. I made my mind and made payment right away. He said it would take a week, but when I said I need them sooner, he managed to do it in 4 days WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE.
And here they came. I’m very happy with the outcome! Very professionally done. I used to go to a store downtown that also has many good reviews, but they charged me $ 25 for much tinier heels (though the outcome was great). I’ll definitely switch to Tino’s from now on.
As a little side note, when I asked for «sole protector», he actually heard «salt protector», and recommended I should just buy a product and do it on my own as it’s cheaper. I liked the fact that he would give you honest advice without taking advantage of you. :) Happy to have a place like this in my neighbourhood.

Cobblers still exist! And this is a good one! Brought in a pair of boots to have the heel cap replaced — got them back not only with the heel cap replaced but a part of the heel that had worn off (plus polished!). All for a crazy good price, plus he’s the sweetest. Totally recommend. Also recommend fixing your shoes instead of buying new ones!

I’m pretty sure the owner has been Mr. Park and not Tino for a long, long time (unless that’s his nickname), but anyways…
Mr. Park is incredible! I took in my favourite dress shoes ($ 60 ten years ago, but it would cost me at least $ 200 for something similar today), hoping to get just a little more mileage out of them. I couldn’t believe how good he made them look — I can probably wear them another 10 years now! So glad places like this still exist in this throw-​away, disposable world… (end rant).
Like other Unilocalers have said, prices are reasonable, and he’s totally up-​front when he can’t do much for you. As a bonus, the place feels like being inside a small, cluttered time capsule (in a totally endearing way).

Brought a pair of good boots in, to be repaired. Unfortunately, the sole isn’t made of rubber but some foam-​like material in which no glue out there can bind to.
Lovely man, he placed the boots back into its original bag, and then courteously tied the handles together.
Small details, but memorable ones that make Tino stand out as sincere and as a valued business person — one that I definitely return back to.

Tino — not his real name, honest — hard worker — and will do his best to fix the mess I make on my shoes! I must be the only person that keeps breaking my buckles and snaps on my shoes/​boots and he will do his best to go out and find the closest match possible. Prices are good and his smile is genuine!!!
