quick shipping and well packaged. grain is WAY too expensive though or else 5 stars

Well, this place generally leaves me feeling like I’ve been ripped off by my sweet aunt.
I have officially made my last visit there for good.
Cons — Most prices are not written anywhere so unless you verify the prices on the website before going you’re left having to constantly ask a clerk the prices. This is the type of place where you’ll get a surprise (not a nice one) when you’re at the cash because almost everything here is overpriced. Lalvin yeast I normally pay 75 cents for at the wine supply store near me is $ 2.50 here.
Most grains are more expensive. In fact this is the most expensive place I’ve bought grains from.
I bought 3 pounds of grain on my last visit and was charged $ 1.75 to mill it myself in the rickety ‘mill’ they have that rarely works properly.
I was charged $ 1.75 each for two plastic bags ($ 3.50) on a separate visit to put the grains in that I bought and milled myself and I wasn’t told this. It was just added to my bill which I only saw once I checked my email because they only email you the receipt (no paper receipt) so there’s no way to check it after you buy your stuff and think to yourself «Wait a minute, I got charged THAT much for this!?»
Cash only — no debit, no credit cards.
Pros — They’re almost the only brew shop open in Toronto on a Sunday. My advice — plan ahead and do your shopping any other day of the week elsewhere.
In closing — I have to say that they have a lot of equipment and it’s pleasing to the eyes when you walk through the place but it’s just eye candy. The guys are super friendly too so it almost seems ok that you’re getting ripped off. My feeling after I leave the place is exactly that. It feels like they’re trying to milk every possible cent out of you which to me isn’t very good business.
How to make this better — put prices on ALL your products. Don’t charge people for plastic bags (or charge cost). Don’t charge for milling. Offer it to your customers, it invites people to come back. Otherwise it’s just being stingy.
Brew North on Queen street is cheaper on everything, the guy will mill your grains for you in his superb, reliable mill and put it in a bag and not charge you for the bag or the milling.

Just maybe one day I am ready to brew my own beer?
Toronto Brewing Co has all the equipment and supplies that might help me in that process!
You can either order their supplies online or drop in to their retail store. Finding it is a little tricky as it is located at the back of the building in a warehouse setting.
Hops? Malts? Bottles? Starting Kit? Or even pots of hops that you can grow in your own garden? I want a garden of hops…
But for the time being I would stick with all the beer glassware they offers from the local craft breweries: Barnstormer, Black Oak, Cassel, Church-​Key and more!
