This is the only windsurfing club available in Toronto, as far as I know. It’s a great place for beginners, novice and advanced windsurfers to learn, practice, and even socialize! I came here for a beginner course because my partner had been going since the beginning of summer and was raving about how much he enjoyed the sport. The change areas and bathrooms are decent. They use a septic system for their bathrooms and the building looks somewhat like a small hangar. It is an open space with cubby holes, a computer for management, chairs, a table, and two change areas. Outside, there are a couple of sheds where they keep their windsurfing equipment/gear. It’s a very casual and friendly environment there. Each class is $ 40+tax and the intro session was from 1:30pm-4pm-ish. There were about 6 people in my class but I believe they take more than 15 people at a time. If you’re a newbie like me, don’t worry about the equipment. They supply everything for you while you’re there, including lifejackets, windsurf board and sail, water shoes, and wet suits if needed. Just bring a bathing suit, t-shirt and shorts on a nice warm day. The instructor was very friendly and helpful. He provided demonstrations on the land simulator and helped each of us improve while we were on the water. The instructor drives around the lake with a motor boat to make sure everyone’s okay and to see if they need help. The instructor also brings you back to shore if you’re unable to do so on your own. Also, the other members there are very helpful and encouraging of those who are beginners. All in all, a great new experience for me! When I went, the weather was a bit rough and the winds were gusty. I think the best time to try would be earlier in the summer or mid-summer when the weather is warmer. There are also races available for beginners and non-beginners for those who are interested. Also, if you’re not a strong swimmer, don’t worry too much because you’re wearing a life jacket. Just be prepared to fall in the water about a dozen times… at least. ;)

Great for windsurf lessons. They offer camps for kids. Lots of board storage(for both windsurf and Stand Up Paddle). Minutes from downtown Toronto. Lots of events and great community atmosphere. Only thing that could be improved? It would be nice to be in Maui. If you are looking for windsurf or Stand Up Paddle gear, check out Boardsports( ). We are the closest windsurf shop to the Toronto Windsurf Club and sponsor of many of the TWC events. Steve

I wish someone had written this review before I arrived in T.O. But I found it by following where the windsurfers were weaving back and forth. The little beach area is a nice refuge from the other public beach(like Cherry) around the corner. Nice people, nice gear for lessons. It looks like the go to guy is Simon for anything from lessons to details on anything windsurf related to this membership driven little club. Wednesday’s are race evening &BBQ. it looks like they sail the open bic class of dingy with kids on Sundays. So glad to find this spot. Storage for gear is available for an additional fee, but clearly worth it in a city that lacks storage for surf/sail gear(outside of the yacht club world.)
