The staff in this store are very unfriendly and they do not hesitate lying you only to sell their products. In the past I shopped them some shampoo and conditioner products that I knew, although they are very unwelcoming. However, yesterday I decided to to buy an eyebrow/​eyelash tint. There was a section with the label of «eyebrow tinting». I asked the cashier to help me choosing one of the tints and she reassured me that the tube she sold me was an eyebrow tint. However when I arrived home and opened the box, in the instructions it is directly written «THIS PRODUCT MUST NOT BE USED FOR DYING EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS; TO DO SO MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS». I checked the product website and realized they have tubes with the exact same appearance with a minor difference that it says «Eyebrow and eyelash dye», instead of «hair dye cream»! I thought it has been a minor mistake and I would go to store and exchange it with the right product, but when I arrived there today, the young lady at the cashiers desk and her manager on the phone both told me that «this is what we use to dye our clients eyebrows; don’t pay attention to what it says in the instructions»! I was shocked! Seriously? Are you suggesting me to use it on my eyebrow or eyelash? what would you do if I go blind?
I told them if they have any other type of eyebrow/​eyelash tinting product I’d exchange it, but they said this is the only product they have and that they cannot return my money. The money I have paid is not a big amount (~ $ 24) but the fact that these people put a wrong label on the product, gave me incorrect advice, and worse than all, shamelessly told me that they risk their clients’ health for the money they make, does not sound right at all. I took all the necessary pictures I need and tomorrow I will be there with copes.

I see there is a lot of negative comments on this place, but I just got my eyebrows done here and I thought the lady did a pretty good job. I had them waxed but she also threaded any strays after the wax and made sure that they looked good. I was pretty pleased with the results and for the price I thought it was well worth it. Perhaps they brought in a new lady or they upped their game. I will be back.

They just opened and the shop is really small, but wow the girls there are fantastic! I went to get my hair cut, and I had not done so in 3 years. So biiiiiig deal for me! I felt like everyone in that store was paying attention to me and they just preened me like a princess! I ended up buying some makeup too, including this to die for
Pink lipstick I am in love with! This place has only been open a week, but I expect it will gain a big reputation fast!

I recently was at this location for eyebrow waxing. I told the store mgr and esthetician that’s what I wanted. I lied on the down and closed my eyes and the girl put wax on my upper lip. I was so startled and upset. I couldn’t believe it. She apologized but honestly how do you mistake that. She then insisted on waxing my eyebrows and they came out lopsided. The store mgr didn’t even say anything except she’d do me the favor of giving me $ 3.00 off. Never again will I go back. I should have known the place was bad news when my work colleague complained of getting a facial rash from their threading service because the girl used a dirty towel. Beware of this business.

I used to come here all the time until I realized (with no help from the cashier/​receptionist) that the woman who did my eyebrows previously, had left. This new lady is horrible! I wanted her to wax my eyebrows and she literally pressured me into getting them threaded. BIG MISTAKE! She left several cuts around my eyebrows and did a horrible job of shaping them. When I asked a friend about their experience, they told me it was painful and that they had also been cut during the threading process.
Now I’m reading some of these other comments and its clear… She needs to be fired as she’s not qualified.
…How do you draw blood from threading your eyebrows?
Thankfully, I ran into the woman who did my eyebrows before and I’m happy. She owns her own store and its located about a 15 minute walk from Trade secrets.
PS… I’m also happy that I don’t have to see that bitter womans face when I walk in… Talk about poor customer service!

The customer service at this Trade Secrets location is brutal. Staff are extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. One woman is ALWAYS on the phone and her phone calls don’t sound like they’re work related. No one ever asks if you need help or even acknowledges your existence. I’ve visited for threading a few times and will never be going back. I’m not sure they’re properly trained because they seem to just rip the hair without actually pulling it out from the root. I’ve also left with broken skin more than once which has never happened to me elsewhere and I’ve been threading for a long time. As if this wasn’t all bad enough they always try to up-​sell you when you’re having a service done. I don’t want to be asked five times if I want a massage or told that my eyebrows could really use improvement. That’s definitely NOT the way to keep a customer.

This is for the Holt Renfrew location. The staff are rude, the usual same 2 – 3 ladies. Ok, maybe not rude, but they aren’t friendly, and don’t seem to like their job or talking to people.
Selection is small, this is a smallest trade secrets location I have been to. It does have the essentials that I use (Macadamia Natural Oil and nail polishes) so it is fine for me. Just don’t expect any advice or friendly service.
