The kleinur was alright but honestly, I was pretty disappointed with everything else. For a bakery that’s been rated so highly, I was expecting far better quality than what was served. Donuts were dry, pastries filled with fake cream and those oatmeal cookies were suspiciously identical to the ones I buy in bulk from IKEA…

I’m a fan. That’s easy. Vinertata for the win. Layered crepes with raspberry compote between the layers. Simple foods made perfectly. I’ll be back and back and back again.

Everything is great. Love the diffent styles of baked goods from what you normally find. Donuts and tiramisu are yummy as well.

«We left Viking Bakery feeling as if we made a friend. For those interested in a bold, new pastry adventure, don’t let the bold storefront drive you away. « “Beware that most delicious sweets are fried, so indulge when off your diet. « “Our favourite was the Vinarterta — a small, unique cake made of five layers of soft biscuit-like crepes with prune paste in between. It was not too sweet and ideal for sharing.» A few bites of our full experience…

Viking bakery is probably a fresh of breath air. Only 4 months and it has already gained its staple neighbourhood patrons coming in as regular patronage. From mother with their children hand in hand, to elderly mom and pops just looking for a snack to people living around in the neighbourhood… they quickly ask the owner Rob Birgir what is what in the store because everything looks so delicious. Birgir is friendly, ever ready to show you some warmth and share his stories when you step into his bakery. Must trys are: Kleinur, Kransa kaka and ammas. Though you must beware, if you don’t like sweet stuff. then this bakery is probably not for you! Although they do have freshly baked bread such as caraway seed, raisin and sugar-free three grain loaves. I’m happy to have Viking Bakery just in this neighbourhood and so close to Woodbine subway. Always a plus point!

Outside of Iceland and New Iceland(Gimli, Manitoba) this bakery is as authentic as it gets. I tried so many treats and there wasn’t one that I wouldn’t recommend. Everything was fresh and delicious. Even the coffee somehow tasted like it came from Iceland. Birgir the baker is warm and genuine. He greets everyone with small town friendliness which is refreshing in a big city. I’m sure the neighbourhood is happy to have him(Danforth near Woodbine) I’m just grateful he’s in Toronto and near to the subway!
