Walmer Road Baptist Church

Walmer is my church — I wasn’t much of a church attendee when I was younger; my Dad worked Sundays and my Mom needed her rest, so we didn’t wind up going to a church consistently.
When I started dating my wife, one of the things that were important to her was that whoever she was with was Christian, so I decided to go with her to Walmer to check it out.
That was 5 years ago, and I’m still there now.
Walmer is a Baptist church in the middle of downtown Toronto, an area that seems a lot of migration between students coming to University of Toronto to study for a school year, individuals and families living in apartments while they save up for a house, etc. We definitely have a good number of long-​standing members at Walmer, but one of the best parts about going to Walmer is the warm feeling you get. It’s very welcoming and is a good place to check out if you’re new to Toronto and looking for a new home church.
The coffee’s hot at our Sunday services, the sermons are always good, there’s people in the congregation at every age level, the kids’ club is thriving, and you’re pretty much always guaranteed to make a friend or two if you’re willing to stick around for a bit after the service on Sundays.
