Honestly I do not understand the high reviews of this café. I went in with 3 co-workers on Tuesday at 9am. There was no one behind the counter, loud rap music was playing, all the baked goods were sitting out uncovered, dirty dishes were littered behind the bar. We stood there for 5 minutes, said hello and no one came to help us. To make matters worse there were milk jugs upside down in steaming pitchers which is against health codes. It was a dirty disgusting shop. It should be seen by the health board.

Came across this little gem across from Trinity Bellwoods Park today! It is a really tiny coffee shop with great coffee. Had a latte which was great tasting and reasonably priced. I could definitely taste the espresso but it wasn’t too strong either. Great balance. Barista was super friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it’s tiny and there isn’t a lot of seating available, but otherwise great location and nice ambiance as it’s bright inside, lots of natural light.

Love that it is open much later than other coffee shops in the city, because sometimes you’re just craving at coffee at 8pm! Really cool atmosphere inside, and lots of space to sit and catch up with friends. Since they directly across Trinity Bellwoods Park it is nice to sit on the bench upfront and watch the people walk by. Or take your coffee to go and stroll through Trinty Bellwoods– a perfect summer activity. And I recommend getting a flat white, it is perfect!

Great coffee shop, in a real nice location on Queen West facing the bellwoods park. I live real close so i come here often to just sit on the bench and enjoy a coffee while i people watch or relax. The internet is really quick so the few times i have come here to work the only nuiance is when the weather is warm there are shit loads of flies in the top section.

Right across the park, this little coffee shop(with a very small communal table upstairs) serves delicious ice-cream and coffee. And affogato, of course. Yes they do apple cider! I walked out smiling from the A+ service and a delicious Americano.

The counter is confusing n there is no much space to accommodate a line of people. Nevertheless the staff manage it pretty well. I got a cappuccino n the caffeine in it was very good. The milk foam wasn’t perfect but the caffeine kick sufficed. Not much space to sit, it’s kind of cozy. I prefer to hav some space as I intend to work n study while having my coffee. Otherwise, it’s a fine little place to grab a coffee on the go!

The service is great! And what a cute little joint this is with good coffee. I’m in Toronto once a month for work, and I like to grab a latte during the weekend and take a stroll around the park. Really can’t go wrong with this place.

Love this cute coffee shop. A nice place with a friendly atmosphere to read for a few hours or get some work done. Coffee, treats, and ice cream are nice but wish they had some sandwiches.

Their hot chocolate is amazing! Service is great too! They just might get a bit too busy at times to find seating. Conveniently located in a neighbourhood with plenty of cafés if you need to go somewhere else.

This place was on the radar for a bit as they sell Greg’s ice cream so one need not venture out to the other outposts to get if you live in this area. My friend did order it while there and went for an affagato for flavor that’s named after this place. Ice Cream was good espresso was not(too bitter) I stuck to the Cappuccino so here is the verdict Espresso: Bitter Crema’: Average Milk: Frothed OK Latte Art: average 2.5 Stars all said and done. Also of note is that the place is not quite clean.

Best place for caffeine fix. I swear I felt woken up after my third sip of Americano. Love the communal table and artwork on wall. Service was very friendly and a great experience. Once I spilled my Americano on myself after I purchased it and they made me a fresh one for free. It was very kind of them and they were very courteous. Will return.

This place is worth checking out. Like a lot of trendy Toronto coffee shops it is a little pricy, but it’s an experience. I’d recommend this place for a fun outing after dinner or a date(pick up coffee and walk in the beautiful park across the street!). I didn’t try the coffee, but my friend really liked it. I went for the ice-cream sandwich. For 4.25 you get a good amount of high-quality ice cream(you get to choose the flavour) sandwiched between two tasty chocolate cookies. The only thing I’d warn about is the sugar rush you’ll get after eating so much ice-cream…and the temptation to order another one… I’ll definitely be back before the summer ends!

If you don’t like this place, don’t know what to tell you. Ambiance, staff, food, the whole shebang. Dave, the owner, looks like he fell out of a Judd Apatow movie and is the ultimate«dude». Like being served by a talented Seth Rogen. A must-go.

Everytime I visit my barber(Garrison’s) located just above, a stop at White Squirrel is essential. I’ve yet to stop and stay in to work, but when I’m jonesin’ for a strong-ass Americano to perk me up — there is no better place. Free wifi, lots of seating available in a cool little loft space a few step above, And the music is always on point and trendy. The Americano is super strong. Like put hair on your chest strong — I think I’ve still got heart palpitations today after having one yesterday, score! But I love the staff here the most, friendly and conversational each time I’ve been, far more effort is put in than the standard small talk, without being intrusive. OH oh! and simple syrup available so you can sweeten you coffee without measuring spoonfuls of sugar. Bonus! Was gonna give it 4 but screw it… Writing this reminded me how awesome my experiences have been. High– 5 for you little squirrel. Eatcrest out!

Great lattes, and super adorable barista. Coffee only comes in single or double sizes, so us caffeine addicts need to order two doubles :-) Pastries are subpar, but the coffee is good enough to carry. Plus, it’s surrounded by two great pastry stores that have terrible coffee. Win!

Today I had THEBESTMOCHAINCANADA courtesy of the White Squirrel. White Squirrel, you have literally taken my breath away!(Which by the way, literally hasn’t happened in quite a while!) Coincidently, my friend literally saw the white squirrel today across the street at Trinity Bellwoods Park. SOYESPEOPLE! THEWHITESQUIRRELDOESEXIST! :)

Great coffee and snacks — they also carry Greg’s ice cream which is locally made in Toronto. The barista is adorable and super friendly. Please note — though they have plentiful wifi, they do NOT have air conditioning! Little balmy in there. Grab your coffee to go and enjoy across the street in the park.

I was in Toronto for a vacation/conference and I needed to do some laundry. So I went to a local laundromat, but seeing that it was breakfast and I hadn’t eaten anything I decided to get a coffee and maybe something to eat at a coffee shop. Enter the White Squirrel Coffee Shop, or more to the point I entered the White Squirrel Coffee Shop. It feels bigger than it is — probably due to the high ceilings. Not a ton of seating, but it wasn’t very busy when I was there(I was also getting breakfast at like 10am so that might have something to do with that). I digress. I decided to get a regular Americano. I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but I do like a good cup of coffee and this reminded me of the good coffee I occasionally have at my favourite coffee shop back home in Edmonton called Transcend. For breakfast I got the Sabich — which was described as an Iraqi sandwich with hard boiled egg, eggplant, and a cucumber salad in a pita. It was delicious. Kind of reminded me of the egg and avocado sandwiches I’ve had before. The spices were different too — I have no idea what was used, it was a bit pungent but good. I quite enjoyed it, but I have no idea if any restaurant close to home will serve up something like this. Luckily there’s google, and hopefully I’ll be able to find a good recipe. The price was decent for the amount of food and drink I got. I honestly don’t know when I’ll be back in Toronto, but if I am and I’m around Queen Street I’ll try to remember to stop in here for a drink and a bite to eat.

First of all, I have to include a self-referential digression. I have been to the hometown of the white squirrel in Olney, Illinois. White squirrels are even creepier than the black squirrels one find in New Jersey. Google them, trust me. This coffee shop across from Trinity Bellwoods is definitely busy when the park is busy. On the plus side, they serve solid coffees, flat whites [like a latte but less milk], and espressos. I’ve been quite satisfied with the caffeinated quaffing here. They also serve Greg’s ice cream, which is quite delicious, and a super random assortment of pastries or other edible things. It’s limited and often rather weird, like an oatmeal cookie and some type of samosa are the two food choices. On the minus side, most of the staff are as hipsterfied as possible. I don’t mind hipsters, but these hipsters are in absolutely no rush to do anything at all. Getting a coffee or an ice cream literally takes 3 times as long as it should. They stop and chat to other hipster friends and serve them out of order. It’s just a little bit infuriating. Some of them just make every interaction awkward, although I did really like chatting with my barista last time, I just wanted to my flat white sometime that day. It’s a bit pricey for what is. $ 10 credit/debit minimum without an extra fee.
