I came here when I am coming back late from work and I have a coupon. Without a coupon things are expensive. Service has been decently fast that I can grab my burger and go before catching the B-line or if the B-line is full I can eat in line. The past few times I’ve had onion rings the batter wasn’t properly coated on the onion. Sometimes it’s left a little too long in the fryer that it becomes over cooked and separates from the onion itself. I am still a fan of their root beer. Sometimes in summer I will split a root beer float. Customer service is always terrible. So why the 3 stars instead of 2? Their burgers have always been consistent with me as well as their fries.

Oooh, I think this place got a makeover recently… or I may just be really oblivious to things that are nice. This A&W is inside the Commericial Dr Skytrain station so it’s really convenient to get to. The service is really nice here and they are really helpful and cheery. Get their specials since they are pretty cheap, they currently have a double double for $ 5. Their onion rings and fries are also great, just a bit on the salty side. And obviously, it’s A&W, DONOTMISSOUTONTHEIRFLOATS(rootbeer is of course the best. They have a really good system set up and your food is made super fast, even if it’s during a busy time.

Really fast service, good cheap food. Staff didn’t smile much, but were attentive. Thanks for satisfying my craving.

This was a coupon endeavor, let’s get that out of the way first, craving for a quick bite and this was the only one I wouldn’t have to actually go out of the way to get to… I arrive at this A & W. I can say that out of all the deemed«fast food» joints I enjoy their burgers a lot more than the golden arches, the crown, and the red head! Not one of the places. in terms of location that I would frequent, but if you are on foot, this place definitely gets top marks for real-estate, located practically at the Broadway-Commercial line… and sometimes in the morning covered by people lining up for the B-line going toward UBC… just that alone should sell you an extra X amount of food and drinks… in other words. this place is going no-where! I came in on a non-busy time, Sunday, and I was greeted once arriving at the checkout and even offered some suggestions on the up-sell. normal stuff and the whole procedure was painless, and it should be, one is that this is a fast-food joint, two… this place is a transit hub, which means people are coming in here like a convienence store. The burger came out in no time… the new Sriracha burger, and the one thing I pray is that they didn’t just slop this thing together to just get you out the door. If you decide however to stay in and enjoy the scenery of people watching, this place is a good size, windows all facing Broadway, and probably that bus you just missed cause you came in here to get something to fill your needs. If you do not like sitting alone, don’t worry, just like all the hip restaurants they seem to also have a communal table so you can try to sit close to someone and create conversation while talking about the A&W burger family? So if you are looking for an A&W… want a better burger(in my opinion) than McD’s. and are not willing to cross Broadway, and want to stay in the confines of easy access public transit, and hopefully you are around here… well… then we will probably see you running in for a quick one… or gazing off while you eat and drink while everyone is just waiting. to get to their next stop!

Employees who work at front doesnt even knows what ingredients of their burgers. Their mayonnaise goes to chubby chicken burger and teen/mama/papa/granpa/buddy burger is different. Mayonnaise that goes into family burger tastes a bit sour and they normally called as «teen mayo». A chubby chicken burger has plain mayoness. I always get chubby chicken burger with teen mayo, but people at front have no knowledge of it so cant communicate with people at kitchen. I obviously know my burger isnt right so if I ask them if it is made with teen mayo and they still not comprehended. So if I say I want teen mayo in the burger then they give me normal mayo that is in small containers. Then this is the time I give up ughh

Was asked what dipping sauce I wanted 2 times… It was plum for the record. I get home to 0 in the bag. I phone to let them know & they tell me I didn’t ask for sauce in the 1st place!

I don’t usually write reviews for fast food restaurants, but this place is really dirty. Also, I’ve been in a couple of times on my way to the skytrain, and I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten an order in under 10mins(even when it’s not crowded at all). Some of the staff are really very very nice(and will actually warn you that it takes them a very long time to make a burger… by «fast food» standards anyway). Some however are kind of very rude. Don’t think I’ll be going again, despite the convenience. Just as well– shouldn’t be eating junk anyway I guess. Ha ha.

exactly what you’d expect from the food(3 stars) but with surprisingly fantastic employees(5 stars). how they manage to maintain such upbeat and professional service given the rudeness of many of their customers is really beyond me.

I really don’t mind their veggie burgers. I’m not gonna lie: they are a wee pricey for a fast food place but they really aren’t that bad and sometimes when the wife wants a juicy burger(?) I will tag along and order myseld the swiss veggie. It’s over $ 9 for the combo but it’s filling and they use a whole wheat bun… The last time I went they were out of ice. I cannot have my fountain diet coke without ice you guys!!! Freeze some damn water! Oh and who doesn’t enjoy their onion rings? Mmmmm junk food heaven.

Convenient fast-food! When you’re hungry, transferring trains and in a hurry, but not quite a rush, A&W is right there at Commercial-Broadway skytrain station to serve you. It’s regular A&W hamburger-joint food, but I do enjoy their onion rings(when I can get the visions of fat calories out of my head), and their root beer is indeed delicious for the genre(I personally prefer my soft drinks with a bite, like Boylan’s or Fentimans). The fun 50’s rock music is a nice touch, but be forewarned that although customers are technically permitted to use the washrooms, they are almost always out of service.

This location is great for listening to classic pop and warming up while you’re waiting for friends, subtly mixing their fountain pop with whiskey in the booth. It’s right on the corner of Commercial and Broadway, where any direction of travel is possible! And it’s open late, so you can start your night where ever you want! But also, the food is the same as any A&W, which is to say it’s above par on quick serve diner burgers. And the staff are nice enough to put up with some severe bullshit, including mine but also much worse. Sometimes I have friends that act a little crazy, too. And yet, we have not been banned. Thanks, guys!

At the risk of sounding a bit like a fast food snob, I do consider myself a sort of A&W connoisseur. For years, I’ve delighted in their fare, celebrated with frosted mugs of root beer, and gorged on their onion rings and burgers with much delight. That said, this little A&W outpost nestled into the Commercial-Broadway metro station is a bit of a mess, and not even a hot mess. Being franchise fast food, I can’t really speak to the food, as it’s fairly consistent across the board, but the space itself at this location makes the dodgy seem outright comfy. Expect noisy, belligerent randoms roaming about if you’re eating in. Expect to hear irate metro commuters verbally abuse the staff for enforcing policy and not allowing non-customers use the restrooms. And if you do really need to use the one-person-at-a-time restrooms, close the door and lock it quickly, lest exuberant fellow diners barge in to wash their hands while you stand awkwardly and wait for them(true story). Disregard the graffiti, the trash, the mysterious stains, and the used paper towel clumps strewn recklessly about too, as these are par for the course. Possibly the grossest A&W I’ve ever experienced, but props to the staff for putting up. On the bright side, the hours are fairly generous, with the good folks here holding down the fort until midnight. Alas, the location’s too convenient and the greasy delights too alluring for me to stay away for long. Visit for a quick bite, or to soak up the crazy.
