AGRO Café is all about life changing experiences that begin with drinking first-class coffee, relaxing in first-class surroundings, and voting with your consumer dollar for a sustainable future. When you buy our fair trade, organic coffee, your money goes directly to small-scale coffee producers around the globe. We buy our beans directly from farmers in developing countries all over the world and we roast our beans in-house, providing the shortest distance from producer to consumer. We ensure our coffee is enjoyed at its freshest, while redefining the experience.
History
Established in 2006.
Established in 2006 AGRO Café began with the formation of AGRODEV (an acronym for Agricultural Growers Resource Organization Developing Economic Viability) in 2004. AGRODEV was officially certified as an international NGO in 2005, and works to promote fair trade and organic farming in Kenya’s agriculture industry at the community level.
In October of 2006, we opened our first café in Yaletown. Within six months, we’d opened our second café, this time in the heart of Granville Island. Our Granville Island store also serves as our kitchen and bakery for our other retail locations – it’s where we make our fresh, local, organic, handmade food and baked goods. You’ve probably seen our bright orange 1977 VW bus making the delivery rounds around Vancouver in the early morning!
Our Annex Café & Roastery opened on Clark Drive in 2010. It houses our cupping lab and 12 KG Diedrich roaster. Come by for a quick tour of the roasting room, or to try coffee made on an aero press or siphon!
