All India Sweets & Restaurant serves simple, authentic East Indian delicacies and cuisine in the middle of the Punjabi Market in South Vancouver. Our menu and buffet offer a variety of home-cooked meals from several regions of India. Each item is prepared on-site by our chefs, using only fresh, natural ingredients. Choose from one of our authentic dishes with warm, rich sauces and flavorful spices, or pick up a few sweet delicacies to take home. Some popular menu items include the Vegetable Samosa, Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken. If you’re having trouble deciding what you want, don’t worry. YUKKK, THIS PLACE IS SHITTY!!!
I was here a couple of years ago, for just take-out, samosa, and stuff, and I thought it was ok then.
So I checked it out for last two days.
First day, I just got some alu tikki, because I always liked alu tikki, even though I don’t know much about east indian cuisine. (I know there’s some high-end, good, delicious curries, with different meats, and well-prepared naan.) 4 Alu tikkies I had here, wasn’t very good, wasn’t too bad, I thought. There isn’t much spice, and a lot potatoes. Well, it’s inexpensive.
Next day, somehow again, I felt like having some samosa, so I bought a couple of chicken samosas, and a couple of veggie samosas. (They didn’t even have beef samosa at all.) First, I tried veggie samosa, just full of potatoes, very very little spice, i don’t know why just they don’t call it potato samosa.
Then, I tried chicken samosa, and omg, it doesn’t even look like fully-cooked, and I don’t know what stuff they put in there, all white inside, maybe tendons, and even some soft bones… and spice, where are they?
wtf… Is it right for a restaurant to feed garbage to its costumers, even though it’s cheap?
and they are running business as it is, just, wtf…
is the meat fresh???
So down the drain, 4 samosa, what a waste of time, and stuff, and the shitty taste on my mouth for nothing… wft
Don’t come here for samosas, and take-outs!

i just drop down this place today for lunch, i was so starving and the waiter hosted me good and i have offered by a glass of water and the menu. i ordered chicken biriyani and a bowl of raita. OMG ! Believe me i never had such an awful biriyani in my life time .The basmati rice? well i can’t say those where the real basmati rice, which has been cooked 75%.i got the chicken thigh like hardly 3 – 4 tiny pieces which was unflavourful, and taste so bad. looks like the chef dont want to make Ala carte at noon time. he made my lunch so terrible. yeah And the raita, it doesn’t seems like real yogurt dipping sauce. it just plain yogurt been garnished with cilantro. i talked to waiter about the difference between raita and yogurt. he expained clearly, but finally i just got some plain yogurt garnished with cilantro. That was such an worst case scenario for me, one i was starving for food, second thing the food was like shit. but i controlled myself and had half way through. FINALLY, the payment: the waiter asked me how was the food, i told him the food is very bad and am so depressed by their food .but god damn he even didn’t say anything about my complaint. and i went for the payment, the lady in the counter, the typed something in the credit card machine, went to final processing and she asked me to pay it. i thought they gonna gave me the bill ‚. after the payment accepted, i asked for the receipt, she even didn’t say anything .she said the machine is something wrong with the paper installation, and she cant provide my bill .i was so mad. guys if you want to have some terrible bad food experience, please go to this place. one of the worst hell experience i ever had. And am not gonna go back.

My partner and I have been going to this restaurant for over ten years now, and have always been very happy with the food there. Until this past week. It seems to me that something has changed. As far as the buffet is concerned, There is a lot less selection, what you can select seems to be of much less quality. The buffet has diminished to what seems to be a watered down version of its former self. We were in on a Saturday night at approx 6 pm and the restaurant was nearly empty. So it seems to me that others have noticed the change as well. We also both noticed that the server kept pushing the menu items. I suppose that maybe the buffet is a lost leader and the money is in the add-ons from the menu. The server we had wasn’t even sure how to make a cup of tea, insisting on pouring what amounted to tepid brown water into my cup without letting it steep. India sweets has been one of our «Go to» places for all this time. But I am afraid it has now been removed from that list. I hope they improve. My suggestion is, more quality control on the buffet, more quality on the item buffet items, and train your staff. If this all means that the buffet goes up by two dollars. That would be fine with me and most others seeking a vegetarian Buffett…

The food is very good and the staff are nice. This restaurant has been around for awhile. Management has changed but the food is still good. I’ve been going here since I was a kid. The chai is m favourite. They also have a nice selection of India sweets.

Terrible food. Drove from Seattle expecting good food. We ordered tandoori chicken, chicken chilli and goat curry. Tandoori and chilli chicken were pathetic. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

It’s a sweet deal for all you can eat at $ 10, but the food quality and selection isn’t very good. Most of the curries are the ones that are 90% sauce — not much substance in them, so this left something to be desired. I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you want all you can eat Indian buffet for dinner and don’t mind sacrificing quality for the deal.

For under $ 10 per person, you get a vegetarian buffet with some extremely satisfying food. Everything was delicious; it was my first time trying kadhi, and now I’m hooked. Legit food and a very good deal.

Great service and good food especially for first-timers. I don’t recommend the buffet if you are new to indian food as it pretty sloppy and the naan will get hard on top of the heater. It is good however if you are really hungry and want to eat a lot for $ 10.
The food ranges from 4.95 — $ 16+ for the curries, but the cheaper food is filling and tasty.
I recommend the fresh garlic naan and bhaturas, chole and samosas but not the parathas or pakoras.
Don’t try the butter chicken as it tastes like tomato soup.

This place was marketed on Vancouver’s tourism website for authentic Punjabi cuisine… don’t be fooled! Probably the worst Punjabi food I’ve ever had… and that’s saying a lot since I’m from the U.S. and we’re used to the mediocre Indian food there (except in NYC and San Fran). If you do get fooled into coming here, then don’t do the buffet, try the a la carte menu even though it’s more expensive… they may try a little harder with that menu than with the buffet items. Food was bland and inauthentic, not spicy or flavorful at all. In a city where there is such a large Punjabi influence, you’d expect the food to taste like it was from the pind (village). The curries like the chicken curry and even the veggie items had the same problem that most bad Indian restaurants have: overly used tomato-based gravy. That’s not real Punjabi or any other Indian cuisine… that’s bland citrusy food produced for the non-Indian masses. What a disappointment on my first and last day in Vancouver… should’ve asked our cab driver for recommendations! And the service was terrible, as expected. They even skimped on getting us water. Oh well… hopefully there will be another opportunity for Vancouver punjabi food to redeem itself.

I actually visited this restaurant once as a fussy teenager– all my friends wanted to get Indian food and I’m a picky eater so I was a little put out but then someone recommended gulab jamun to be because I have a killer sweet tooth and I LOVED them. Then I went home to Victoria and spent the last 10 years dreaming about these sweets.
Skipping forward to now, I’ve just moved to Vancouver and I live literally 5 minutes away from their location on the corner of Main and 49^th! I couldn’t believe the coincidence! Last night, my wife and our roommate stopped in for dinner at the buffet — I’m still a bit of a fussy eater but their sweets were just as syrupy sweet and fluffy as I remember! My wife and roommate both really enjoyed their meals too! My wife can be a bit of a snob and walking in she was a little sceptical but she cleared her plate and went back for seconds just like that! I can see it becoming a regular haunt for us.
We ordered from their pick up menu tonight, which was less enjoyable though I couldn’t pin point exactly what it was that was less good if you asked me. I prefer a buffet style meal anyways! I do like their take away sweets section though– it’s huge! I kind of wish they actually labeled the sweets, if only so I could know the name of the treats I love so much!

I got the vegetarian buffet, and wasn’t a big fan.
In summary: Skip it; over salted food; improper spice balances; cream/yogurt sauce based dishes majorly thinned out.
The mutter paneer and yogurt based pakora curry dish were very watery. On top of that — they were overly salty to the point of ‘yuck’. Not much flavor complexity from the other spices either.
The aloo gobi had off balanced spices to the point that it wasn’t enjoyable.
There was a curry labeled malai kofta, but it clearly was not… have no idea what it was.
Usually love kheer, but this one was totally blah.
I could go on about the other dishes, but I’d recommend just taking my word for it — you’ll be disappointed if you are looking for anything more than just food in your stomach.
There was nothing on this buffet that I truly enjoyed, it was very meh.

I LOVE PANEERRRRR
Anyways, I’ve been wanting to come here for a while and I finally popped in yesterday!
My friend and I were on the 49 to metro after lectures and we impulsively got off to go here.
What the heck $ 10.95 for the vegetarian buffet that is pretty good? SO CHEAP
Service was good, everyone was really nice, the food was really good…
the paneer tho…
and the naan…
Plus the samosas are so cheap like 75 cents what even I pay like $ 3.50 for crappy yucky samosas at school…

Came her for the vegetarian buffet !
The service was excelent !
Buffet was good with different dishes to choose from — i liked the vegetable biriyani, aloo peas curry, malai kofta and the desserts.
Food quality can be imporved such as adding few more spices and make the food a little rich and tasty as i felt some of the dish was less tasty. Also food can be a little more hot.
As a feedback please also keep atleast one dish a spicy dish. Its good to keep a spicy dish for the vancouver weather !
If there is no nann, do ask them they will prepare fresh and give it to you — good customer service :)
Overall a very good experience here and worth it for the price for the buffet!

Dropped in while I was waiting for my bus and got two vegetable samosas, one of some sort of patty thing, and one of the other different Patty thing. Sorry, my names for them are awful because I can’t recall the real names at all. I just pointed and said «one of that one and that one» to the lady at the cash register LOL. I decided to be adventurous as well and go for a small box of their sweets. There are no labels as to what desserts are what so I just grabbed anything ! LOL
The lady at the register was nice and efficient.
It came out to $ 11.90. $ 7 for small box of sweets, 0.75 per vegetable samos. I can’t remember the pricing for the other items.
After arriving home to taste; the samosas were good, patty things were OK, sweets had many interesting flavors! Overall, I am satisfied.

I remember this restaurant being very good from when I visited a few years back. I was a little bit disappointed when I came back here again recently. The all you can eat vegetarian buffet was mediocre. The dishes were bland and runny and the naan was undercooked. Pretty cheap though, and I suppose I can’t complain about the service. My waiter was very friendly and attentive — my coffee was refilled quickly.
Maybe if I had ordered a meat dish it would have been better.

If you like rotting your teeth, this is the place to be.
Parking is available on the side streets.
The place has won a lot of local awards, and I can see why. The clouds part and a rainbow appears when you see their dessert display. Almost every colour of the rainbow is there, and there is something for everyone, in terms of ingredients, and sweetness. Even though I’m not much of a dessert guy, I found their honey dipped pastries and coconut squares quite enjoyable. They charge by weight here, so you just grab a box and load up.
They also serve food here, but my friends and I didn’t try this time.

I don’t know why so many negative reviews… although there are new owners who are extremely sweet we continue to enjoy this spot as much as we did when we started coming here three years ago. My parents live close by and bring chaat and samosas when they drive down to visit :).
The chaat and samosas are delectable… My favorite is the papdi chaat which always has freshly made papdis not stale ones that I get stuck with from our close Indian spot in Redmond.
