Being a veteran myself, I thought I thought this would be a great place to socialize with other veterans. Unfortunately this was clearly not the case. When I began to describe my multiple tours from call of duty modern warfare 1 all the way to call of duty modern warfare 3, the veterans around me seemed a bit puzzled and frankly envious. I suspect this is a shell company created by the Columbian cartels to launder their illegal earnings into Canada because I swear I heard Spanish in the «bar» and they suspiciously denied it.
Anyway, besides from these points I would return if they unban me from the place.

Parking lot at the back. Membership only establishment, but server allowed us to be there as guests the first time. Membership is $ 40 for the first year and $ 35 thereafter. Members can sign in 2 guests and are allowed to be included in other events. Draft beers are $ 4.50 for a sleeve. 2 pool tables and 1 snooker table. Each play at pool table is $ 1. 9 dart boards.

Went for first time Saturday and had great time. They are now making everyone buy a membership which is $ 30. You can bring in 2 guests with you. The guy working the front could be a whole lot nicer but once inside pure enjoyment. We had a few tall boy pilsners which at 5 each is great deal. Played a game of shuffle board and had to leave. It was kareoke night which woukd have been lots of fun but another party was waiting. This is a real throw back place that has small town feel and friendly people. Worth the membership. Beers start at $ 210.

Best karaōke place in town, in my humble opinion.
There are amazing people singing anything and everything. Clients range in age from 19 to 90+.
If you want to watch everything from wannabes to rock stars in the making and you want to sing your heart out, I suggest going to the Legion’s karaōke night.
They’ve recently institutionalized and mandated that a person entering the bar is either a member or someone who is signed in by a member. I honestly don’t mind paying the $ 35/​year (honestly less than I spend on coffee in a month) on a membership, and you can sign in two people, so it’s really not that big of a deal.
You should come. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Machines: Theatre of Magic, Twilight Zone
A great place to come for some pinball action in the afternoon. You’ll get to know the actual patrons of the Legion, the ones that may actually have been in the war. The waitress usually sits down with them. They’re gruff, usually friendly, but make sure you never wear a hat inside (strictly forbidden).

Excellent legion, cheap beer and Twilight Zone pinball in pristine condition, plays great! Also really nice shuffle-​board tables, pool tables and meat draws and other fun wacky legion stuff!

Definitely a love it or hate it kind of place; I don’t think I could truly be friends with anyone who falls into the latter camp. It is so incredibly sketchy and weird and awesome here. Also, the only place I know of to play table shuffleboard, although I honestly have no clue what the rules are, so I’m using the term «play» in the loosest sense of the word.
The Main Street Legion is the best venue to have a low-​key hang out with friends spanning vastly different ages and classes. They serve cheap, bottom shelf alcohol and microwave popcorn, cash only. Small dance floor and free for all karaōke, all of which makes for top quality people watching. Last weekend’s highlight was a young lad so hammered he couldn’t even zip up his own pants — fortunately his female friend was happy to help him out in that department. Coming here to feel cool would be a grave mistake, but coming here to have a good time would be doing your weekend a favour.

OMG this place is amazing! Trivia on Sunday night is THE most amazing in the city! Why? First, breakfast grocery draws every 15 minutes between 6:15 & 7:16pm ($ 2 per ticket, prize is 24+ eggs, 12 breakfast sausages, a pack of bacon, & a loop of garlic sausage). The Riddler hosts trivia between 7:30pm & 10:30 & offers an amazingly original selection of round formats & questions. Plus, $ 3.55 pints of Canadian on Sunday & free Shuffleboard.

After living vicariously through word of mouth and rave reviews I finally made it here!
They were having a membership drive ($ 35 for the year: do it!) so the little entrance was all a twitter when we walked in. It seemed like everyone was already friends, which was a pretty sweet welcome indeed.
This place is huuuuuge! TWO shuffleboard tables! Darts everywhere! Pool! Karaōke! Trivia night! Oh man. The possibilities are endless. The drinks are crazy cheap. The crowd is mixed and amazing. I very much enjoyed the christmas light touches.
I will be back this way for more fun.

This place is what it is. I think it’s actually pretty fantastic that this place is rated so high.
Who doesn’t love a good meat draw and the cheapest off sales on Main St.

Since when did this place become popular? Seriously — am I that hipster that I have to say I came to this place before it was cool? WELL I DID. It was myself, my two friends and a bunch of people from a different demographic and it was pretty fun and the drinks were cheap. I LOVE shuffleboard and the darts were pretty fun too. Turned into a hot mess as it should.
But a 5-​starts worthy experience on the fun factor alone? Nah. It’s still a dingy old place with gross tasting drinks and not a good selection of beer.

If this place is anything, it’s authentic. My most recent experience was at about 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon; we were there to visit the Funhouse pinball machine in the corner. The waitress was gruff when she told us we daren’t sit in any of those chairs as they were reserved. We were certainly the only people in the place under 60. There were probably 15 — 20 other folks in there, all sitting around, drinking beer, playing the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ which I think was drawn every 30 minutes.
This is one of those joints where I find it almost impossible to choose which type of beer to drink because they are all AWFUL macrobrews. It’s a rare experience in Vancouver these days!

Do NOT get in the way of the waitresses. They’re little, but they can use their fists. I’ve seen a few people thrown out of bars, but I’d never seen anyone kicked — literally kicked, foot-​to-​ass — until I came to this Legion. Dude had been stealing people’s beers all night. Deserved it.
Yeah, this place has cheap-​ass beer & cocktails. But there’s so much more: where else can you play shuffleboard on Main Street? Or darts? The karaōke here is usually pretty charming. And if you’re lucky, you’ll see some cool old vets around. Say hi and thank you. Just don’t do so while obnoxiously drunk.

Been here once for a friends birthday party and karaōke.

Saturday night. Old man karaōke. Shuffleboard. Boxed red wine. Bring your own food. Watch crazy 88 year old woman shuffle in, makeup smeared all over her face, look directly at you, give you the finger and say, «faaaaack yoouuuu»
All in all, a night well-​spent.

It’s an interesting, cool place. So random though. It’s one of those places you drive by all the time and never go in.
The beer is cheap. They have pool and shuffleboard. The place is massive. It’s got a dive charm to it. The people are non-​assuming and characters for sure. It’s in the heart of East Van, definitely a marker of the surroundings.

If you are offended by stale aromas and singing off key please stay away. If you love an unpretentious atmosphere, cheap drinks (i mean REALLY cheap), games (shuffleboard, pool, darts) and karaeoke then this is your place!
Went to watch the hockey game first and it was filled with the older crew. Enjoy a 3 $ beer (when ordering a pint, just order a pint, do not specify the beer brand unless you want to pay extra for it — best not to ask questions) or G&T (under 4 $) and then wait for the transition… At around 10pm, the old crew leaves to make room for the Main St hipsters. But at the end of the day, everyone is there to have fun, relax and not have to pay through the nose for it.
Oh and did I mention you can bring outside food in? I mean this place is like that one kid’s basement when you were growing up… you know the one. That kid who had all the best games (the electronic Battleship, not the one that you had to add your own side effects to), toys (hello Big Wheel!) and the only Coleco Vision on the block! This place has it all. Just don’t tell too many of your friends about it.

Sure, they have cheap drinks ($ 3.75 for a single well drink). And yes, karaōke on Saturdays. And darts, and pool, and shuffleboard. And they don’t mind if you bring your own food in as they have no menu. But really, the best part about this place is the wild mix of clientele. Last Saturday night the place was packed and not just with hipsters. There was an older guy who got up and did a rad karaōke song by Ol’ Blue Eyes. I saw a bunch of folks in their 20s who clearly brought someone’s middle-​aged mother with them. Actual vets hang out here. And everybody has a good time!

Visitors Welcome! So come one come all. Most legions have opened up their doors recently as membership has dwindled over the years. This one is no exception. To get a membership you just need to fill out an application at the door and pay I think $ 30 for the year. This allows you to let in a many as four guests. If you just want to try it out I’m sure someone can sign you in for the night.
I mostly come here for the cheap drinks, but I stay for the entertainment. Not that I’m an alcoholic, but seriously $ 3.75 for a G&T, $ 3.75 for pint of draft. We bought a round of drinks and paid under $ 20.00. If you want to play shuffle board leave a $ 10.00 deposit at the bar to get the pucks. I’m not sure if you have to leave a deposit for the darts or pool as I have never played here. If you are so inclined feel free to belt out a few tunes on the piano. I know I always enjoy hearing the old timers playing.
They have karaōke on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The couple that run it are actually really good. They are like older versions of David Cassidy and Peggy Sue. If you want to sing a tune the competition is stiff so get your song in early. These nights are pretty popular so also expect people on the dance floor rocking out to your sweet vocals.
The best deal at this location is that they let you bring in outside food. So if you’re feeling peckish just order in.
All in all don’t expect the décor to have much wow factor. The old Legion definitely needs a face lift, but then all the charm might just disappear. Expect upon entering to inhale the scent of stale cigarettes and beer. Don’t worry though, after a few libations you won’t be bothered by much. Well maybe one of the regulars, but they don’t bite.

If you like blue collar watering holes, you can’t beat the punk Coronation Street feeling you get here.
Karaōke, darts, pool and my favourite, shuffleboard! The shuffleboard tables are old school, complete with course sand. I was surprised that the Moosehead on tap was under $ 4.00, even for non-​members.
This is a great place for a group of people, sign in, take your hats off, order some pints and play a game of pool or darts. Wednesdays and Saturdays are insane because of the karaōke, so get there by 7pm to get a good spot. Drink specials are as low as $ 3.20!
