Either I will call Bau-Xi Gallery a pleasant surprise during a Shopping Walk on Granville Street or more accurately I call it and Explosion of Twisting perceptions in a quiet Westside Neighbourhood. Bau-Xi Gallery is hosting Mr. Anthony Redpath a Man that takes Landscapes, Objects and People and poses each item to confuse the viewers mind and cause your Perception of that very image you think you know to change in front of your eyes. Also Bau-Xi Gallery is a constant on a block of changing retailers and gentrification, just steps from the gallery VPD used Deadly force to subdue a Mentally Ill man that case(Paul Boyd) is still under review just as the images on Galleries walls for the public to see. Redpaths work will only be on display till Aug 25, images start @ $ 2500 and if your a collector this work is a steal in my opinion

This is my favorite gallery, but i am very biased. My dad is an artist who exhibits here and has done for awhile now. Check him out, his name is Stuart Slind. What i like about the Bau-xi, other than it being one of the oldest galleries in Vancouver, is that it is unpretensious. The girls that work here are fabulous, and the owners are very nice. If there is something you are looking for, they will help you find it. Home visits, borrowing, and renting are all options. They consistantly bring on new and exciting artists that inspire me to paint or photograph. I also usually want to buy everything in this space. but i am lucky enough to have a lot of awesome art already! It’s a beautiful 2 floor space, usually with one artist downstairs, and another upstairs in a smaller open concept room. The hallways upstairs usually have a selection of art from there large roster of artists. I tend to go for brunch next door at the Ousi Bistro and then head over to the Bau-xi across the street. Makes for a nice way to start the day. There sister galleries in Toronto and Seattle are also worth taking a stroll into.

Bau-Xi is one of the oldest contemporary art galleries in Vancouver. The regular showcase is comprised of emerging and established Canadian talent. Their artists all work in a variety of media, from painting and drawing to sculpture and prints. The gallery is split into two levels, with the lower gallery exhibiting their feature artist and the upper gallery dedicated to other, smaller works.
