Bella Gelateria

I’ve gone to this location for takeout twice now and have had sub-​par experiences with the service both times. The first time was for gelato during the summer – the guys working there reminded me of the character Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (no joke!). The second time was last Saturday to try one of their Hot Chocolate Festival creations. It started off well as the host greeted me and showed me where to order; however, I was the second person in line and yet the wait and transaction totalled around 15 – 20 minutes. It seemed very disorganized – there were problems with giving customers change (in that they didn’t have coins/​smaller bills readily available) and I could see my drink ready and sitting for almost five minutes before it was finally handed to me (missing the cookie that came with it, which I had to ask for). Perhaps I caught them on two bad days?
I can’t speak for the pizzeria/​restaurant, but the quality of gelato and hot chocolate I had were excellent. I’ve just had a much better time at the original Bella Gelateria location.

Beautiful space. Lovely patio on the waterfront… Gelato that wins global competitions. So what’s the beef?
The beef’s that the pizza here bores the hell out of me and yesterdays offering was akin to a Digiorno frozen pie, left to sit for an hour. Dry cheese, dried out sauce and just so-​so tasting. Not good. At all.
The beer was good.
The gelato cone with white choco macha drip was small and the macha was almost non existent.
Service was good.
Won’t be coming back for pizza; Possibly for gelato.

Came here for 2016 Dine Out Vancouver.
I was invited by a couple of my girlfriends to try this place out. I was a bit surprised that they had a dine out menu Im only familiar with their gelato.
$ 30 included a 3 course meal. I started with a brioche crostini appetizer. 3 different types bite size 1. Smoked salmon 2. mushroom 3. bocaccini and tomato. Tasted good. Another options were a salad. For my main course I choose lobster and crab ravioli. Very tasty and very filling. It came with a lemon cream sauce. Others options included braised osso bucco, and several types of pizza. For dessert we had a choice of 2 gelato and I went with buko pandan and matcha, you can never go wrong with any of their gelato. My girlfriends and I shared so I also got to try salted caramel, Madagascar vanilla, and earl grey. We were a little disappointed they didn’t have lavender earl grey.
Overall the meal was good and service was too. Only compliant was when we asked if and of the food had nuts because one of my friends is extremely allergic they said no, we specifically asked about the desserts because we wanted to share still said no. My dessert came with a «peanut butter» cookie. Right when it came to the table I took a bit and yup peanut butter. We didn’t bother complaining. She just avoided my dessert.

I thought Bella’s other location was as good as it gets, but this one is just a shade better. They have the same award winning gelato, but they also dribble chocolate (white or dark) down in your cone before they put the ice cream in, and they dribble chocolate over the top. My wife and I always sample a couple of different kinds of ice cream, and then order the salted caramel and chocolate Belgian brownie. There is nothing else quite like it in the world. This location, besides being a bit newer than the other, it is right along the beautiful marina. They also have a pizzeria, which we didn’t have any pizza, but I suspect it is quite delicious. It is a lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff, no problems whatsoever. We will definitely be back, and we definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good gelato with a good atmosphere.

Sure we had some pizza, but we came for the famous gelato! The pizza is good and has a thin crust that isn’t too filling. Great for saving room for gelato. We had 2 pizzas for 3 and it was plenty.
Definitely try the Burnt Caramel and the white chocolate macha topping. The manager was super friendly and hung out and spoke to us for a while.
The servers were patient with our gelato indecisiveness and let us try a bunch before we picked.
Loved it!

Pizza. Ice Cream and Canoli. what more can a girl want!
Our friend took us here to pick up a pizza and we decided to eat in. We also ordered some meat balls then finished up with some ice cream cone, NY Style cream filled Canoli and the Ice Cream Sandwich.
We gorged ourselves on the great pizzas, never knew they have pizza there and the meatballs were excellent, not too dry and easy to devour.
Our friend is the pied piper of food, he wanted to order more but our poor little stomachs were too full.

came here only for gelato. too many good flavors to pick from. They only give up to 5 samples per person… so make up your mind quickly! free white or milk chocolate drizzle and wafer cookie.
have not tried their pizzas, but i see a nice looking pizza oven. heard pizzas were pretty good. nice area in yaletown with great view of false creek and boats.

You get what you pay for. A nice restaurant, great service, great atmosphere and most importantly great food. The Akbar Mashti was pretty good but I wish it had more pistachio’s. Nevertheless the saffron is the big taste that I love.
Great place to stop by alone or with friends. I highly recommend Bella gelateria

Been here for both desert and tasting plates YVR very recently. Favourite on the first visit was the tiramisu. Also their gelato is so good when paired with the matcha filled cone (had the toasted pecan with maldon sea salt which was extremely creamy but not heavy!). During tasting plates, we got to try a pizza slice (the crust was extremely thin and light, my favourite!), beet risotto (not too sweet or heavy), mozzarella and tomato and finally a «g» sundae that had fior di latte gelato, whiskey fudge and strawberry pochee (the gelato was light, not too sweet. and then the whiskey fudge hit you pretty hard but was delicious and balanced by the strawberry!) Overall, the owner and servers are all very attentive, kind and sweet! They care about their food and the impact that it makes on the customers. Love the kind of places that show their passion for food :) DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

Loved the gelato. There was luckily no line up at all. Perfect stop in on a hot summer day to grab a gelato and then sit by the water.
Not sure if their menu changes regularly but we got the salted caramel and creamsicle flavours. Some of the best gelato I’ve ever had.

I wasn’t impressed with their gelato. I didn’t understand the hype. I had espresso and I tired the Buko Pandan gelato (young coconut with Pandan leaves). I even had a tummy ache.
The pizza looks delicious. I will try that next time.

Its summer and the restaurant sells one of the best gelatos in town, has a patio, and located by the Seawall. So yes, this place was super busy even for a weekday dinner. Make reservations on Opentable requesting the patio before going and you might get lucky (though there’s usually available tables inside the restaurant). Also, don’t expect to get out of there quickly if you’re having dinner, the service is slower for sure. The wait staff are friendly but disorganized: we didn’t get menus, and our gelato order was messed (got a cup instead of cone and got a sorbetto instead of gelato). This added to the wait time. Luckily we weren’t in a hurry since the 3 course meal took 3hrs.
The food was OK. We shared a meatball appie which was a bit bland. Then we had the Completa (Prosciutto) Pizza ($ 19) which was quite good but pricey. Also had the Tagliatelle ($ 16), which was OK. If you dine-​in, you can get gelato samples and order the gelato from your waiter. Though this takes a while since your waiter is battling the gelato queue while also serving other tables. You could also skip to the end of the queue to ask for samples yourself, though again, takes time to wave someone down who’s not busy already.
The restaurant is best for enjoying a leisurely drink, like their Gellatinis (martinis with a scoop of gelato), and gelatos on their patio overlooking the Seawall. Have your dinner elsewhere.

There’s a little bit of a touristy/​yuppie crown here, but the food is pretty darn good.
If you like something slightly spicy, get the Diavola pizza. A couple meatballs to add to a pizza make a big difference.
The gelato experience is a bit different than what I’m used to, but in the end it’s tasty and there are a lot of options. I haven’t done many of the exotic ones yet. Old fashioned chocolate is great.

Exquisite perfectly creamy gelato, unusual flavors, inviting clean and modern décor, excellent service. And then there was the cookie.
I was told this was the best gelato you’ll have in your life, so I had to come. Sampled a few, and the server was genuinely enthusiastic about them. Settled on Matcha green tea, and amarena cherry. Lovely flavors, and not overdone.
Then on a whim I ordered the cookies at the check out, and this turned out to be the pièce de la résistance. A rich but not to sweet chocolate cookie, just the right balance of gooey and crunchy, embedded with rosemary for a unique flavor. Sandwiched between two of these heavenly morsels was earl grey tea gelato. Again, a subtle flavour, balanced perfectly against the chocolate and rosemary, not too sweet, not too strong. The three flavors played against each other on my tongue. Perfect.

I had no idea that they had opened one in yaletown and I was very excited to taste my first Bella Gelateria gelato.
The restaurant itself has a nice patio looking at the Yaletown marina. There are also tables inside as well but on a nice sunny day, I definitely would rather be out there on the patio.
Not only do they have gelato, they also have pizza. I am not sure how much the pizza is. This review is only for the gelato.
Before you can get the gelato, you first have to prepay and get a ticket with your order printed on. Once you give that to the person working behind the counter, then you can get the gelato of your choice. You are allowed to try up to 3 flavours before deciding on a gelato. A scoop goes for about $ 6.00 each. Quite hefty price considering their scoop isn’t very big.
There were so many unique flavours I wanted to try; I ended up getting lavender earl grey gelato. Neither lavender or earl grey are overpowering which was nice. I really liked my first taste of the gelato; it wasn’t too overly sweet either which I really appreciated.
They also had gelato macaron which I would love to try on my next visit.
Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because even though the gelato was quite tasty, I am not sure if it is worth $ 6.00 price tag.

I don’t think I need to elaborate on how amazing the gelato here is (black sesame being my favourite, as it’s even better than the black sesame ice cream you can get in Japan!) but I wanted to point out that their desserts are delicious as well!
My favourite dessert here is the gelato ice cream sandwich, which is one of the most perfect combinations ever. Their homemade cookies here are amazing and are perfectly complemented by the cold icy gelato sandwiched in between.

Not only I have a sweet tooth but also a dairy tooth, if there’s such a thing! So when it comes to gelato the creamier the better.
I have visited Bella Gelateria’s location on multiple occasions and every time have had a great experience. The service is to the point and non-​intrusive and the gelato is great.
The décor is very modern Italian, effortless yes functional!
I have tried Akbar Mashti in a dark chocolate which is my favorite with lots of pistachios and frozen chunks of heavy cream, salted caramel in a cup and their Macchiato and highly recommend all of them.

They have a lot of delicious gelato flavors; and also great pizza and panini. Great Gelateria to go in summer with friends. The only thing that made me remove 1 stars is the time we have to wait to get a sit in the patio when we go at night. In the lunch time, it is less busy and easier to get a table.
Love the location right in front of seawall; and the staff and owner are really nice people!
I tried mortadella panini and it is very tasty. The only thing I miss there is Hawaiian pizza. I wish they could add that to their menu.

Been pretty excited to have this gem in the neighbourhood. Been here for both brunch and dinner, both times getting one form of dessert.
Bella G uses quality ingredients and a special oven to come out with its pizza crust. Pizzas can technically go from order to table in less than 10 minutes because of this. They also have a nice added touch of providing tables with infused olive oils whose flavours go great with the dishes.
Highly recommend trying the macaron gelato sandwich at least once (it’s rather pricey at nearly $ 8 but worth it) Nice place to be on a sunny day overlooking the harbour at the patio

Great staff. Good food. Excellent dessert!
The gluten free crust was so good I asked twice to make sure we didn’t get the wrong order. We had to wait in line since there were two other gf pizzas ahead of us, so the waitress treated us to gluten free bread. She was awesome, actually, very attentive.
Gelato is always amazing.
Definitely will be going back.
