Biercraft Tap and Tapas Bar

Went there for dinner with some friends. Had an amazing time. Our server was awesome, knew his stuff and actually taught us something new. The food was amazing. I would recomend the poutine. They use a miso gravey, most places you cant taste the miso, you can here! Beer selection is good. My boyfriend is the trappist beer fan, he absolutely went bonkers when he was told they had Wvesteran XII.
One down side was, we ordered Lava Salt Pepper Wings, the server wasnt informed that they were out of lava salt. We got plain salt pepper wings. None the less, we shall return for the lava salt wings.

Bartender Peter Connor was the life of this place and made the experience so good here. Now that he’s gone, I don’t enjoy it as much. The beer is still there though. Lots of local and good stuff to choose from on tap or in bottle. Food is still average too.

Just inhaled the Eggs on Cornbread. Frickin delicious! The cornbread is amazingly on point; soft and tender, perfect texture and with a beautiful poached egg hovering on top. Everyone MUST try this at least once. I’ll be back next weekend for brunch suckers.

Beer selection was okay. Tried something new, waitress told us it was a «light beer» but it was far from it. It’s very pricy, paid 45 dollars just on beers for 2 people. They don’t do pitchers as well.
The biggest reason why it is 1 stars is because of the service (or else I would’ve given it 3). VERY RUDE — I usually don’t complain because I understand how stressful it can be but my god… NEVER coming back because of this. Every single time we ordered something, she looked bitter or she sighed. We were taking a group picture and she walked into it and started clearing off dishes (getting in the way of the group picture), she didn’t apologize or say a single word. And when it came time for our bills, for someone unknown reason she could not comprehend us telling her whose credit card was whose… We repeated ourselves 3 times and she kept getting more annoyed… «The green one is mine, the yellow one is hers» (how confusing is that?). I picked mine up to show her physically and she grabbed it out of my hand abruptly and scratched me in the process. I just don’t get what was going on with her. We tried making small talk with her to lighten her up but it didn’t work.
Oh well. Beer choices are decent, pricing is on the high side. Service was the worst I’ve experienced. I don’t care how busy it was, it was inexcusable.

Incredible mussels and great elephant delirium beer on tap but waitresses that seem to be worked off their feet.

If your a blue collar Joe keep on walking by tons of choices but your expected to know all about beer guess it’s not for the average Joe like me less snotty waitress /​waiter is a solution

We came here for drinks later in the night. It was not bad at all, pretty good to be honest, just a little overpriced to get a higher rating in my book. Would love to try the food as it looked pretty solid.

Solid 3.5 stars, but 4 stars for trendy, happening bar, one of many on the Drive, but this one’s a lot cleaner and worth returning. One good industry test is to check the washrooms lol but I digress.
Against my better judgement, I ordered the fish tacos, which are a bit over-​hyped, according to the Unilocal tips. Normally, I’d leave the specialist like Tacofino et al, did look promising on the menu. While I couldn’t complain about the portions, as for $ 10, three good sized suckers, but taste-​wise, not the wow factor like Tacofino.
Great customer service, server came back several times to check up.
And Amex acceptance outside of DT, that’s a bonus.
Cool patio action, wraps around the corner for those who care.

After drinking great beers all across Europe, and being pretty sure Belgian and Trappist style beers were now your exclusive type, coming home to Canada was a sad reality, when you realized the small selection.
Glad to report that things are getting so much better, and with the help of great places like Biercraft, I can enjoy all my faves and a sour or two. If this review was just about the beers it would be 5 stars.
Every time we come here it seems to be when we are starving and we order way too much food. That should make the liking easier. Problem is, we are always disappointed. The lettuce wraps are just alright but are enormous, and messy, even for a lettuce wrap. The open faced cranberry goat cheese shortrib appy is OK, but really small, dry, and the goat cheese used was pretty crappy in quality. Tasted like really dry salty feta. We had to check the menu again to see if it was in fact goat cheese.
The burger i had hoped for given the other reviews was dry and tasteless and the bun was a bit weird and crumbly. Not sure if it was stale or just a weird choice. The pulled pork Mac n cheese was truly disgusting. The Mac was dry and tasteless with a big cold lump of stringy pulled pork at the bottom. At night, drinking beer on the dark patio, eating it looked like an Egyptian burial ceremony, pulling stringy intestines out of tiny cup with a fork. A passerby inquiring for change remarked «eww gross what’s that!!!» Our thoughts entirely.
I think we will do this place pre and post eating, and never again in between.

Joanne and I tried to get into another restaurant and couldn’t so decided to head to the drive where there were always a lot of options. We had stopped here for drinks one night for drinks so decided we would try it out for brunch.
For the life of me I have no idea what I ordered — well I know what I ate but I don’t recall what it was called. So yummy I would find it on the menu and order it again next time. Poached eggs with a pesto and a tomato salsa on cornbread. My only complaint was that the cornbread was too delicate and hard to pick up as it kept crumbling.
Eggs were cooked perfectly and we both added fries instead of home fries which was a great choice. And I even got a heap of salad and it was dressed perfectly. I meant to ask which herb they used in the dressing as it was really delish.
Should have remembered our server’s name as she was a delight!
It was surprisingly empty for an 11am — hopefully more Unilocal reviews will change that!

This use to be my hood. So many new places on commercial drive.
We strolled in for a few Belgium beers. Didn’t order any food, as we had already eaten at Havana earlier in the day.
The server was pretty friendly, and didn’t try and kick us out, even though we stayed well after closing. We had come in right at last call. Pretty good Belgium beer list. Reminds me of being in Belgium. Light crisp beers. Friendly staff!

Amazing beer selection. Their wine selection ain’t bad. I love this place! I love the seared tuna. It’s seared black and white sesame seeds and served with spinach and a lovely aioli drizzle. I usually sit at the bar and the service is great. Sometimes when I sit at a table the service isn’t as good, but still good. They have popcorn at the bar too that is deliciously seasoned to perfection.

If there is a go-​to place on the drive for an amazing dinner, drink, or a brunch this is it; their beer selection (tap and bottles) is extensive, their service excellent.
One word of warning: if you are at all hungry and go here for brunch, the waffles will leave you wanting. As in, wanting 2 or 3 times what you got. Delicious, but strangely disproportionate to other options.
All meals I’ve had here have been exceptional in taste.

Beer is a bit on the expensive side, although they do have a few Bomber Brewery beers as their house beer. Food was great. Their eggs benedict with chorizo is out of this world.

We drank Belgians we had never heard of. The bartender wrote down a beer for us to try. That NEVER happens. Two giant thumbs up.
Add to that an awesome appetizer — meatballs FTW and you have the recipe for a great night.

I used to live very, very close to Biercraft, and because of this, and their amazing beer selection, we became the best of friends! I always received impeccable service, had some great chats with the servers and bartenders, worked my way through most of their beers, and a lot of the amazing tapas.
I haven’t been back as often since I moved, and I miss it! So boyfriend and I took ourselves down there this weekend for a beer and a round of cribbage (basically our ideal day!) I have to say I was disappointed with the service we received… The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, but we stood in the doorway for a few minutes before one of the people sitting at the bar (who I think works there but wasn’t on the clock) told us we could probably just sit down. In the time we were waiting a server did walk by us but didn’t acknowledge that we were there. We grabbed a table and waited a few more minutes to receive our menus. From that point on everything went swimmingly — we had salty, spicy popcorn deposited at our table, and two delicious pints of Bomber porter.
We had a lovely afternoon, and really enjoyed our beer and popcorn; hopefully the slightly subpar service is just a minor anomaly and they’ll be back up to their usual amazingness soon!

Okay I don’t want to sound stuck up or anything, but Biercraft’s supposedly famous mussels are very mediocre compared to the ones at Chambar and Miku. I guess it’s not fair to compare a pub to fine dining establishments so here are the casual restaurants that make better mussels than the ones at Biercraft:
Sandbar (Granville Island)
Twisted Fork Bistro (Granville Street)
Café Salade de Fruits Café (W 7^th)
Anyways, their mussels are… perhaps above average (I tried the Normande)? The portion is fairly large and the prices are inexpensive. Their fries are just okay but I have to admit, they do have a large selection of beers and lots of great specials. The location is pretty good and is located near many other eateries so it’s a nice place to hang out.
If I were to come back, I would definitely try their poutine! Oh, I also had a burger (I don’t remember which) and it was just okay.
