Giving this place a 3 star and the only positives about this coffee shop is that it is convenient.(I live nearby) Their food is good but small portioned.(–1 star for portion) They used to have kitchen service on the weekdays too but now it’s just available on the weekends. Service is terrible(–1 star) Everytime I have any question for the woman at the till, they seem to be reluctant to answer and that tone and look on their face doesn’t seem helpful at all. If not for those all nighter coffees I need to buy sometimes I’m the morning, I wouldn’t go to this place even if I live right under it.

I came here for brunch with my boyfriend and his parents on a weekday. This place has two sides to it — one side for the coffee shop and the other side for brunch. I have to say their coffee is very good. But the food was, in my opinion, average. For the Eggs Benedict, instead of using english muffins they used Belgian Waffles. I have to say the egg bennys were overall average — there weren’t enough hollandise sauce and the waffles weren’t as fluffy as it should be. Overall, I tgought thus place was just average. I would probably come back to this place if I am in the area for their coffee and not so much for their food.

Sour cold press iced coffee, frumpy room, poor service, hard waffles, insipid benedict, bad bread, total bummer. The upside? It’s more expensive than eating breakfast at Café Medina downtown, and much worse. If you like 90s style coffee shops with a bland aesthetic and ugly art then this place is for you. Forgot to add: how is this a grazing house? Oh I get it, its called black sheep and sheep graze. How clever!

We were staying down Dunbar from Blaq Sheep and had coffee and breakfast here a couple of times. Walking distance. Great food and very tasty coffee. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, yum. Facing the front of the store, the coffee bar is on the right side, and the ‘sit-down’ food side is on the left. The lady with the one-star review and blue hair sounds like a little bit of a psycho that nobody can please.

Been there for brunch and coffee on multiple occasions, although mostly for the latter. Love their brunch menu. Very creative and tasty. On the coffee bar side, I’ve never been disappointed with any drink. Always well made and perfectly presented. Staff are friendly and clearly well trained. Keep up the great work.

I had a review for this place that was a 5 star, however, deleted it ’cause I don’t want a trace of the time I was actually pleased with this place ’cause this weekend was terrible. I came all the way to Dunbar from Burnaby to see my best friend and to head to the St. George’s fair(and get some brew before the event). The lady at the til was very rude and condescending. I asked her if she was having a bad day and she admitted to not having a break, however, no need for the attitude. I wake up in a positive mood each morning and did not appreciate this at all on Saturday(yesterday at around 10:20 am). I did call her out on it and I was getting irritated. She left for her break in the middle of the transaction. I paid for my coffee which was $ 2.50. I had change on me, however, to be passive I paid by card knowing that the CC company takes a percentage. A different guy who took over for the lady mid transaction was watching me enter my information and the screen like a hawk which was odd. Normally when I do my card magic on the machine no one is watching and the staff wait until I am done while doing other things. I made sure that he noticed that I didn’t leave a tip and said, «I am not leaving a tip ’cause I did not appreciate her attitude. I don’t wake up for this shit.» Last visit to this coffee shop.

Great food. Had the OMG omelette and my partner had the willing Benny. The place is unassuming but the food is 5 * Fresh, light and tasty. Do it

Meh. Terrible service, and barely adequate food. The waffles were oddly leathery and tough, like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile — not fluffy at all like I’d expect from something fresh. The servings were small and expensive, a Belgian waffle was just one waffle-square, with stewed fruit, and what must have been a rationed-out amount of syrup: seriously, it was a tablespoon, and we had to ask for it from the waitress, and she filled the little metal container ¼ full. Seriously. Was there a worldwide syrup shortage or something?! The new potatoes that came with the eggs benny were quite lovely, but the benny itself was bland — I appreciated the homemade hollandaise sauce, but putting it on a waffle wasn’t nearly as delightful as I’d hoped, partly because of the aforementioned leatheriness of the waffle, and it just tasted bland. Bland bland bland. And, again, the service was the pitts — multiple servers forgetting who ordered what, having to ask for basic things like salt and pepper(and yes, it needed salt, and I NEVER salt), and … sigh. It’s sad because I love that a brunch place opened in this area, as it’s underserved by restaurants. But this is just not that good.

I rode my bike to meet my sister at Blaq Sheep Coffee House on a Super Sunny Fall Saturday morning! I live downtown and I made it down to Dunbar and 40th in 48 minutes not too bad hey? We were meeting for brunch and since my sister lives in the area she suggested Blaq Sheep. I was a bit apprehensive. I mean come on a coffee shop for brunch? What gives man? I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a house coffee and their OMG omelette(with a smoked salmon topping) and in the end I was like… OMG this is good! Ok coffee wise I’m a neophyte! I can’t tell a good coffee from a bad coffee. To me Tim Hortons has a good coffee! I know you coffee connoisseurs out there would abhor my poor coffee taste! I can’t competently comment on the quality of the coffee I had here. I’ll just be neutral and say it was ok to me! The omelette was awesome! It contains 3 different cheeses ratatouille, cheddar, and mozzarella… I know it sounds heavy but I promise you it’s not. Trust me on this one people, this omelette is awesome! Light and fluffy a real treat for the taste buds! Overall, an excellent experience! We sat out on the patio(so I could watch my bike — shhh… I have no lock for it!), and enjoyed the sun and talked over family issues. Service was excellent! Fast and friendly service. The waitress was a real sweetie pie! She can take a joke and dish out a joke! Blaq Sheep is a bit far from where I live, but I will certainly be back one day soon!

Not big portion if that is what you are looking for. But I love small and delicate food myself. Every thing on the plate is well-made and decorate. And the coffee is AMAZING! Tea Misto(their version of London fog) is my favorite!

We drove all the way to the Dunbar location based on good(but few) Unilocal reviews. We both had pulled turkey benny(so we can’t speak to the sandwiches there) and found both the waffle and the turkey very dry and bland. My wife ordered this dish especially since it had avocado but there were only a few chunks of avocado, which is always a big turn off for us. Potatoes were very good but again, there weren’t that many. We were underwhelmed by our first experience here and it will probably be our last.

Every time I visit Vancouver, the Dunbar area just keeps getting better and better! Blaq Sheep is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and the locals keep it buzzing. There is a bistro side for sit-down food, and a separate coffee side, although coffee is served on both sides. We had brunch, and were surprised by the promising menu offerings for such a small place. Their specialty is a variety of eggs benedict on waffles — a mouth-watering combination. The poached eggs are silky and creamy, the hollandaise light and frothy, and the toppings and accompaniments(smoked salmon, tomato, avocado, herbed potatoes, fruit) fresh and flavorful. *Fantastic* full-bodied coffee, too. The swirly high mounds of gelato at the counter were beckoning, but alas, we were too full to partake. Next time, for sure!!!

Tasty sandwiches that come with a good portion of leafy salad. Great coffee. Will have to come back to try the waffles!

Never had a caramel macchiato at any other place than blenz and starbucks. I will compare all good caramel macchiatos from this point in time to blaq sheep’s! The coffee was so full, but not too strong so it would overpower the amount of sweetness in the drink. So good. So good.

This is a small neighborhood coffee shop. I was super surprised how good their coffee is here. I’ll definitely be back to try all of their coffees.

Blaq Sheep Coffee House & Bistro are excellent establishments — I highly recommend visiting! This past weekend I dined on a delicious brunch of an eggs benedict with smoked salmon served uniquely on a waffle(and served with oven roasted potatoes). I loved the idea of the waffle and not only does Blaq Sheep offer the unique and the creative, their food items are based on quality too. Freshly squeezed orange juice was the perfect accompaniment to this delicious feast. Returning to their Coffee house for some caffeine is on my list. I have heard that their coffee is of the finest quality too. The ambience was great(stylish yet comfortable) and Tan(the owner) and fellow staff were more than hospitable, relaxed and accommodating. A great place to try if you want to try something new(you won’t regret it) and one to return to.

A great coffee shop, with sandwiches & plenty of gluten-free goodies to go with your coffee(or tea). This used to be a Bean Around the World, and while I like Beans a lot, Blaq Sheep is a step up. The staff were attentive, friendly & efficient, and the coffee was superb. I adored my Spirit Park(spelt) muffin, which they offered to warm up and it arrived sliced in half and warmed in the panini grill, with a pat of butter(decadence!). I like my muffins moist and dense, and this one did not disappoint with plump raisins and pumpkin seeds and I don’t know what else tucked inside. They had 2 TVs unobtrusively broadcasting Olympic gymnastics, and they have a fabulous outdoor seating area as well.
