Meet the Business Owner

Karin Otto S.

Business Owner

As founding partner of the firm, Karin brings an immense knowledge of horticulture and design to Botanica. Karin’s work ranges from the design of small city gardens to elaborate private properties, from restaurant courtyards to café containers, from green roofs to living walls. Prior to starting the firm, Karin studied horticulture and apprenticed as a gardener. Her passion for horticulture and design has lead her to travel the world extensively appreciating colour and culture in the landscape.

Originallyy a project & operations manager, Otto worked for some years in the high tech industry in Vancouver & Chicago before joining his wife in building her Vancouver garden design company. Otto brings to Botanica a strong background in project management and is diligent in providing landscape designs that are economically feasible. He undertakes garden design & green roof/​living wall projects with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of structure.
