The Brief Encounters Performance Series is produced by local dance company The Tomorrow Collective, and the tag line for the series is «artistic blind date meets performance under the gun». Intrigued? You should be! Basically, 12 diverse(and I mean diverse) artists are paired up and asked to create a performance-worthy piece in a mere two weeks. That’s two weeks from the time of meeting to the time of the show, and the results range from the sublime to the hilarious. Each of the six pieces is about 10 or 15 minutes in length, and while many of the pieces tend to feel like works in progress, they are typically polished enough to be worth the price of the ticket. Brief Encounters happens 3 or 4 times a year, and the dates of performance are announced on The Tomorrow Collective’s website.
