History

Established in 1999.

Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar, set in a 1912 Yaletown heritage building, is known for its modern Canadian cuisine that uses local ingredients in a comfortable, yet innovative way, a strong commitment to wine and an excellent wine by the glass selection offering over 60 wines by the glass. The room is warm, inviting & artistic; the unique glass covered courtyard patio is one of the jewels of the city, heated and open year round.

Meet the Business Owner

David H.

Business Owner

David Hannay brings more than seventeen years experience in the food-service and wine industries to Brix. He spent five years with the Spectra Group of Great restaurants where he began his restaurant management career and his love affair with wine under the tutelage of celebrated Vancouver sommelier Mike Moller. His wine education continued during a two year retail position with Liberty Wine Merchants and several wine courses at Vancouver Community College. David enhanced his restaurant experience with a two year stint at the Fish House in Stanley Park and four years of dinner service at Vancouver’s legendary Joe Forte’s Seafood & Chop House.

After travels to wine growing regions in Europe and California, David opened Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar in Vancouver with Patrick Mercer in 1999. David’s wife Jennifer joined the team in 2003 as the event coordinator and togther they have two children. They both continue to operate Brix on a full time basis.
