Bruce Eyewear

This place definitely has all the very latest in eyewear, but the 2 stars I’m giving is for my horrible experience purchasing 3D printed frames ($ 1000 with taxes), the arms keep falling off! (Oh yeah, and the case broke straight away whereby it wouldn’t close). I’ve been in 3 times to get the «clips» fixed, but this is seriously inconvenient. Today, after searching for a parking spot, then getting in AGAIN to have the arm put back on I commented that although they’ve acknowledged there is an issue with these Mykita Mylon glasses clips, I told them that it’s such a hassle to have them break (3 x in a year), and a waste of my time. Furthermore, I’m travelling abroad (then what?). She commented to me that «everyone’s time is valuable»! I reminded her that I paid a thousand dollars to have that kind of time waste! What a terrible attitude & comment! I pleaded for the clips so that my husband can fix next time.
Disgusting attitude from this woman! Not pleasant customer service. An «I’m sorry this has happened yet again» would have been nice!

I’ve visited both locations, and the staff switches between both. Always a pleasant experience at Bruce Eyewear. Each person I have interacted with has been knowledgeable about the frames themselves, as well as good at picking out frames to your liking. It was Elaine who picked out the frames I ended up purchasing, and I am so glad she did! I never would have picked them out for myself.
I have gone back a couple times just for adjustments of my nose pads, and each time they have been glad to help.
The frames are all a little special, and often seem to have a bright accent, are generally bright, or are an interesting shape. Admittedly, they are a little more expensive than I would have liked, but they are worth it (for me anyway). They’re fun, and I often get asked where I got my glasses from.
I will definitely revisit when I need another pair of frames.

The customer service here is unbelievable.
I came into this shop for the first time on Gaston’s Shop Hop (April 16^th) despite living around the corner for a year. The shop hop had 20−40% off from 5−9pm and its spring, time to break out some nice sunglasses. I loved the unique range of both optical, and sunglasses that they had at this store. I walked in and had a awesome asian dude help me out (sorry, I forgot your name!!) He was totally wicked and had amazing style. I mean, the dude was magazine worthy. He was fresh to the bone.
The first thing I loved was how unique, and awesome the glasses he was wearing were. So, I tried a pair of the same with sunshades in them and let me tell you they looked DOPE. They were possibly the freshest glasses I have ever seen on me (or anyone for that matter). Then he told me the price… $ 600 something dollars was the SALE price. Jesus. I knew it was too good to be true. This is okay. there was plenty of other glasses for sale in the shop and I politely told him that that was much out of my price range, and he was very pleasant about it and didn’t seem to think I was being unreasonable and continue to help me try on probably 20 other pairs of sunglasses in a more appropriate price range. This is when what seemed to be either a store manager or owner came over and offered me some champagne. I gladly accepted, as it is in the spirit of the annual Gastown Shop Hop!
I continued trying on different pairs. The awesome dude letting me know what he thought of each pair, and allowing me to text pics to my Mom and my friends for feedback on them haha.
It turns out the first pair of Super’s I tried on that apparently he has loved for a long time and has tried to convince people to get for a long time was the pair that worked best for me, (Me, him. Mom, and friend approved) they ended up being $ 200 after the sale, and taxes and everything which I was very much okay with.
He fitted them perfectly to my face making multiple adjustments, and send me out the store with a smile on my face, a new pair of sunglasses made in Italy that were just on point, and an invite to come back to the store anytime to get them re-​adjusted or of course for a new pair one day!
Love this store, love the fresh employee. keep up the great work!
TL;DR
Expect to pay around $ 150+ for a pair of sunglasses, with many designer brands and some pairs in the $ 500+ range.

I wanted to get a new pair of glasses, and after checking out typical locations such as Lens Crafters, Luxury Eyewear, Costco, etc. decided to give this place a try. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was that I did not know any of the brands. No Rayban, Gucci, Prada, Oakley, etc. Being disappointed, before I leave asked one of the staff to suggest some glasses. Trying the first suggestion, I was blown away by the fit and look of the glass. It was perfect, something that I haven’t seen in any of the shops before. The guy there was enthusiastic about suggesting more glasses, so he brought about 10~15 more pairs, and almost all of them fit better than anything I tried in other shops. Two things that I noticed was first how good the guy there knew what fits my face and style, and second the build quality of the frames. I ended up buying the first suggested frame, and credit to the sales guy who found the perfect fit in the first shot ! I did bit more research after buying the glasses and found that the brands here are actually proper high end glass brands rather than typical fashion brands.
Overall, really cool selection of frames, quality lens options, super friendly service. The prices are high, but you get what you pay for (and also the price is not inflated compared to online prices for the same frames).

I am a veteran when it comes to buying glasses or wearing glasses because I have done so for a very long time.
I have accepted the fact that glasses are a part of me.
Because it’s so personal, after all its something you always wear, on your face too of all places, therefore shopping for a new frame is never short of being a little nightmare.
It usually takes a long time and visiting of many optical stores.
I never feel comfortable picking glasses because most places don’t give a shit about whether or not the frames fit you, but they will sell you anything for the sake of a sale.
Not so at Bruce’s.
First time in my life I ended up with a pair of glasses that indeed fit like a glove.
How did that happen?
Because at Bruce the people who work there are different, they clearly know their product, they seem to enjoy what they do and it’s evident that the main objective is helping the customer find the right frame, which suits the person and works with their prescription. (Great service + great products = Success).
Besides, whoever does the buying and is in charge of the very eclectic collection of frames and shades has excellent taste.
Guaranteed you will not find generic run of the mill type frames.
It took me 3 visits though until I found the pair that was right for me and every time it was totally OK to try on as many pairs as I wanted. Also, it was OK to take a picture of myself with the glasses to help me make up my mind.
In the end Dex found the winning pair for me. She was SUPER NICE. I am glad she insisted on getting my eyes checked (I thought they were fine) but of course the prescription changed.
I have been to opticians in the past who did not insist on an eye check.
Really, this is the best Eyewear place I have ever been too. Go see for yourself!

The customer service is phenomenal even when you just pop by to have your awesome glasses from Bruce’s adjusted. There are so many great frames in a huge variety of styles and colours that I had a hard time picking. The staff was fabulous & patient with helping me find the perfect frames. I love my prescription sunglasses & get so my compliments on them.
If you are able to splurge on your glasses & want have great looking frames that are unique and don’t flaunt huge annoying logos this is the store for you.

If you are looking for new frames this is the place to go. They have a great selection of all different types of frames. Plus they are all great quality. To top off the amazing product, and great selection, the customer service is always impeccable. Someone always says hi when you walk through the door. Their sales associates are very knowledgeable about their products and eager to help you find what you are looking for.
I bought my glasses from here over a year ago and they still look brand new; and I get compliments on how nice they are almost daily.

I don’t know many people who can go through those doors and not come out a couple hundred dollars poorer. I’ve done it on days when I felt most ruthless and my will power strong. But not today.
Today I succumbed to the incredible customer service, knowledgeable staff, and the vast selection of frames.
Whereas I have a hard time finding a pair of frames I like at most eyewear stores, I have a hard time narrowing down my favourites at Bruce Eyewear. It’s always a Sophie’s choice at the end.
My slightly larger than average head has made it near impossible to find glasses that look good on me. And hats.
But the people at Bruce know their selection. The girl that helped me picked out frame after frame that I loved. And what’s more amazing was that they fit my big head!
I left a couple hundred dollars poorer. But I would do it again.

I just couldn’t be happier with the service, selection and staff at Bruce Eyewear. Professional, engaging and helpful. You fine people are knocking it out of the park. I recently bought a pair of frames based on my previous customer service recommendation. Customer for life so long as I am in Vancouver. I’m bringing my mother next time she is in town as well.

This place has great customer service. And they should — you are going to leave this store either having spent a minimum of $ 250 (that’s without lenses), or empty handed. There are a few high-​end boutiques, and larger department stores with fuschia bags (ahemm, cough, ahemmm, ‘scuse me), that ought to take a tip from Bruce here — when your customers are buying expensive designer products, treat them well. I would come here again for my next glasses purchase. This trip was just for (non-​prescription) sunglasses.
I have been searching for the perfect Breakfast at Tiffany’s glasses for the better part of the last decade. They were recently re-​released (not naming names, I want to be the only girl in Vancouver checking my reflection at Tiffany’s at 5am so f*** off and do your own research) and this is the only store in the city carrying that brand.
I dropped about half of my grad-​school fund buying these… I had to do something about the way I looked! But did I tell you how divinely and utterly happy I am?

Perhaps these frames are just too retro or round-​shaped for my liking. No doubt it’s a stylish store, vintage to go along w/​Gastown but very pricey. Was quoted $ 800 for Alain Mikli’s, no doubt it’s a designer name and dont expect to go on sale anytime soon.
guess it’s hard to justify these prices when i’m shopping in the states a lot!

I have purchased 3 pairs of glasses and 2 pairs of prescription sunglasses from Bruce. The staff genuinely care to take the time to find the best frame for your face, for your sense of style, and for your price range.
They’ve got frames you won’t find anywhere else — very well-​curated selection. The staff are so dope and so stylish. I always feel like I’m in good hands and (unfortunately for my wallet) can always find something that I love.
They even did me a huge favour and sent my glasses to my out-​of-​town destination, when I’d dropped them off before a trip (with not enough time to pick them up).

Delighted with my experience here. I went in looking for a fun, original pair of frames for everyday; I didn’t want to have to sift through the conservative and the logo-​covered. They were friendly, offered opinions, were up-​front about pricing, and found me a fantastic pair of glasses within my price range.
Note — they have a lot of ‘one-​ofs’ so if you find a frame you like, try and get it fast, as they sell out and disappear. But this also means they are getting new styles all the time! Oh, aaand they made me a latte while I was ordering my glasses. Sweet!

This store has an excellent selection. Unfortunately, every pair of glasses is behind glass or in a locked drawer so you always need a salesperson to browse. This means you are often kept waiting for help. On the plus side, the sales people are friendly.
I found a pair of frames I liked here for $ 695. I found a very similar pair of frames for $ 170 elsewhere, and ended up with glasses with high-​quality lenses for less than $ 400 altogether.
I’d recommend Bruce to people who have a bit more money to spend than I do.

When I was but a wee lass, I was jealous — yes, jealous — of kids who wore glasses. They were of an elite class, belonging to an exclusive group that only a select few were allowed. Try as I might to sabotage my yearly eye exam, this was one nerdy accessory that I just could not get. «Next year,» I’d think to myself, «next year will be the year I ace the exam and get the prize.»
Fast forward a couple of decades, and here I am, 4 pairs of glasses richer and two eyes for the worse. Age, it would seem, was on my side. What I hadn’t considered was the number of hours I would have to dedicate to finding that perfect pair of frames to match both my taste and face. Enter Bruce Eyewear, a shop with enough super cool, high-​profile, brand-​name frames to appease the masses, and even more entirely obscure specs to please the elite.
Overwhelming as eye-​glass selection is, the staff of Bruce Eyewear are right there to curate a collection entirely for you. Super knowledgeable and ridiculously nice, Nada and the staff all seem to posses the same uncanny ability to choose just the right set of frames for each customer’s individual taste. I’ve left the shop not once, but twice (!) with the most amazingly perfect pair of frames in hand.
Go to Bruce Eyewear, be prepared to spend some dough, and get ready for the compliments to roll in.

Unfortunately, I’m going to have to give this place three stars. I found the service to be friendly but awkward. When we first arrived, the sales people were tied up and did not attend to us. Then, when they did, they did not stop. I like to have a look at the glasses myself and not have the sales rep making suggestions all the time. Although she was friendly, I felt obliged to look at and give feedback on every pair of glasses she brought over, which were mostly unsuited for my needs.
This place is very, very trendy. The store was small but with an impressive and unique collection. The glasses were bright, colourful, and definitely unique. I fell in love with one pair, but the total, at over $ 700, was quite pricey and I did not want to spend that much for a pair of glasses I would wear for less than two years.
I usually have difficulty finding glasses because of the large disparity between my two eyes, astigmatism, large amounts of reading and computer use, and a non-​existent nose bridge. Unfortunately, Bruce Eyewear did not measure up to what I needed and I was disappointed after all the rave reviews.

They have some seriously cool frames in this store. I’m talkin’ SERIOUSLY cool. Not only that, the staff are super friendly and eager to have you try on as many pairs as it takes until you find that magical, perfect pair.
I went in there this afternoon to do a little pre-​shopping for a new pair of glasses, since my new extended healthcare plan at work kicks in soon. Even though I mentioned that I wasn’t actually going to buy the glasses for a few more weeks, the guy that was helping me (I forgot to get his name!) was more than happy to spend a solid chunk of time with me. I must have tried on at least 30 different frames. At the end, he wrote down my name and my favourite styles so that when I come back, all I need to do is give them my name and they’ll track down my favourite pair. (In this case, it was a pair of sweet black nerd-​style glasses with holograms on the sides. HOLOGRAMS, PEOPLE!)
In terms of prices, many of the frames were in the $ 400-​$ 500 range, with some significantly less and others significantly more. Although that’s a pretty penny, considering that I will have them plastered to my face for the next few years (at least), it’s worth it. Also, they only bring in one or two of each frame, so you can rest assured that you won’t see lots of other people running around town in the same pair as you. (Although I was assured that they’d order another pair if my top choice were to sell)
All in all, this store is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a new pair of glasses. Plus, you’ll have MUCH more fun shopping here than if you go to your local Lenscrafters.

I’ve only read a handful of the reviews below, but I’ve already seen everything I wanted to say (Impressive & unique collection! Fantastic service! A+++++) .even though it may be redundant, my thoughts on Bruce Eyewear are below:
Yesterday I bought my first pair of glasses and Nadia at Bruce Eyewear made it a million times easier then I ever thought possible. At first I thought that it was just how glasses shopping should go — but after visiting another store, recommended by Nadia when she didn’t have the style (I thought) I was looking for — I discovered that the service and relaxed no-​pressure sales at Bruce was special and just the place I wanted to buy from. Nadia’s knowledge about the product she was selling was supieror to most, she understood my face and what I was looking for, even if I didn’t. She was patient and charming and didn’t mind my endless «oooh, what about those ones???» — even after I’d narrowed it down to three.
35 pairs in & 40 mins later, we managed to find a great pair of glasses. I am eternally grateful that Nadia & her staff could not only find me awesome frames for my teeny tiny face, but that they could also do it for under $ 250.
So this is my Thank-​You Bruce Eyewear. Keep up all the good work. We’ll see you next week when I pick up my glasses!

I had so much fun picking out my new pair of sunnies and glasses with Paul. It was pretty busy when I walked in on Tuesday late afternoon. I was encouraged to open the drawers to look for interesting pairs.
I was really open for anything, and Paul recommended dozens of frames and sunnies to try on. My sister is my biggest critic, and we had so much fun trying all of them on!
Service is great, staffs like to have fun, and so do I. So it was a great experience! Thank you!

The hippest, coolest eyewear in town plus Nadia and her staff are the hippest, coolest eyewear experts in town. Do not buy glasses anywhere else! I always leave here wanting more… more glasses. People come here and want to buy glasses even though they don’t need them.
Great sunglasses, too… of the non-​prescription kind.
