I get compliments on my specs frequently and I attribute that in great part to Bruce!
As others have said, the prices are higher than at many places. Let’s address that:
~ There are sales! Get on the email list or follow them on social media to ascertain the dates. I got a pair of sunnies for hundreds of dollars below original asking price.
~ On occasion I have purchased frames and gotten the lenses put in elsewhere to offset the cost.
~ Specs are often the first thing people see on your face. If you keep a pair of glasses for many years (which is reasonable) and divide the price by amount of times worn, it becomes apparent it is a reasonable investment purchase.
The selection is wondrous and the staff are fun and helpful. They explained what frames were right for me and it corrected the ‘nose-​slipping’ issues I had with other frames.
Sidenote:
I usually go to this location. However, the Gastown location is dear to my heart. My glasses broke the week I had a very significant death in my family. My glasses had been purchased in another city (not from Bruce) but the company told me the replacement part would have to be ordered from Belgium.
I found out that Bruce carried that line of glasses. The Gastown location provided the part free of charge and fixed them for me immediately — a bright spot at a nightmarish time.

I had an incredible experience here! I am having a love affair with my Garrett Leight Milwood glasses — they are beyond cute. There is so much selection at Bruce Eyewear and they have the best and most up-​to-​date trends.
Now let me get to the customer service. It was exceptional. I felt like I was a part of the Bruce Eyewear family. Everyone in there is so friendly! The woman who helped me was so meticulous and a perfectionist and made sure I was happy with everything. Also, they told me that Garrett Leight finishes his products in an Italian factory and that there is no slave labour, so I like their focus on ethical practices. The glasses were also $ 320, which I think is an amazing price point for such a well-​made, beautifully crafted pair of frames.

Lost in translation.
I’ve been in the store about 10 – 12 times now and am always surprised by how patronizing the staff are, like the don’t understand their customer now that it’s not downtown condo dwelling office workers… We’re a different kind of cool up here folks!
Each time I try to look through glasses this same woman stands so close to me literally breathing down my neck that I get uncomfortable and leave. I know I don’t look like I’m going to steal something, I don’t get that elsewhere…
They’d be better off hiring some people who are just plain nice and don’t act like their slumming it on Main.

Great shop. Just has some time before my haircut at Mike’s next door and stopped in. Beautiful beautiful frames and nice people and GREAT hours. Came back later and bought a German tortoise shell frame with sterling silver (yes) hinges. Price could seem high to some but you do get what you pay for. Now for lenses…

I’m a fan of their products, knowledge, décor… their prices, on the other hand, obviously markets to the well-​to-​do and famous celebrities, as one of their designer labels, DITA, cater to. A catalouge showing the Brad Pitts, J Lo, etc.
It’s an amazing brand, over 40 different parts, gold-​plated for even the nose pads, for one of the models I saw, $ 650, not too shabby.
Like their drawers design/​colour, each one had different frames.

Great experience, great shop! The store is new to the neighbourhood and there’s usually generous free street parking along this stretch of Main. The interior of the store has a handsome and whimsical vintage feel, with a shocking pink ceiling.
I dropped by today just to browse their selection, and was wowed by the wonderful and attentive (and patient!) service offered by Angela. She walked me through a number of different frames, gave me constructive advice on what worked for my face, and even priced out a few options for me. Without a doubt, Bruce offers a well-​curated assortment of beautiful, fashionable frames.
The prices for some of their wares are a bit steep, but it’s art for your face, people. I wear my glasses everyday, so it’s a worthwhile investment on a cost-​per-​wear basis (that’s how I’m going to justify it to myself, anyway). Once I figure out what my budget will allow and update my vision prescription, I hope to be back in the store picking up a stylish pair of frames!
