I am a regular here and it’s my favourite comfort food place for Chinese. When I come with friends, we usually pick from the«pick your own dishes» meals(i.e. 5 – 8 dishes that come with soup, dessert and free sides). Most items come in big portions. My personal fav is the satay beef vermicelli pot. If it’s just myself and the soon-to-be wifey, we’ll get a noodle, congee, and ALWAYS wontons(no noodles). The wontons are bomb here and we haven’t found another place better! FYI, they’re cash only. Some ppl can find issue with their service, but it’s the food I’m there for tbh. Yeah it can be shoddy depending on which waitress you get, but it’s just the nature of the place. I come for the fooood! If I’m coming in a big group we always make a reservation because their lineups are insane!!!

Definitely a place where service is lacking. The waitresses there scowl at you when you ask them for anything even you come in to eat. Food is ok not fantastic. This was our first time there. Probably won’t go there again with family especially old ladies who are fussy about good manners. The waitress we had who delivered the honey chicken spilled part of the sauce on the table & didn’t bother apologizing but kept on going like an «energizer bunny».

If its decent cheaper chinese food you want this is the place! Most of the time day or night they are busy and mostly Asians which is your guarantee the foods good. After 9pm the dishes go on sale(smaller dishes) but you can try more stuff out! Excellent curry beef brisket, spicey pork green beans, my favourote is their Shrimp dumpling and noodle soup … I am getting hungry :)

If you want decent but greasy Chinese food, Congee Noodle King has you covered. Basically, stick to the chicken wings, congee, rice or noodle dishes and you won’t be disappointed. Don’t expect any pleases or thank you’s. You’re there to eat and get out. Parking can be a pain in the butt too since they’re located on Kingsway and Joyce. The street is always busy.

Seriously, this place has the absolute worst service EVER. Chinese ladies who constantly talk to you in Chinese and get upset when you don’t understand them. Food is pretty decent, too bad everyone here doesn’t know anything about customer service.

Fast service, stomach — satisfying food. Chicken wings — must order. Crispy, garlicky and finger lickin’ good. KFC should take note. Century egg congee — better than mom’s.(I can say this because she doesn’t use Unilocal) As I write this my mouth is starting to water. Too bad I’m back in etown and it’s midnight. Go eat here and I shall live vicariously through you. Please and thank you.

We enjoy the late night snacking here however breakfasts and dinners are great too Good deals. Great flavour. Staff can be polite and friendly or rude and cranky depending on who you have serving you The bathrooms definitely need renos!!!

The rice rolls were cold when they arrived at my table. The veggie dish that I ordered was salty. My friend, who was living nearby, told me that when she ordered the take-out from there, they had missed one of her orders. My friend called them and they told my friend to go back, but when my friend went back later, they said, «Why are you so late?» What an attitude. There was another time when my friend dined at there, the change that they gave my friend was short. Also their washroom is not clean. I don’t see any reason for me to spend my money there.

Your typical Chinese comfort-food restaurant, I come here regularly with the family. Some tips: — Cash only — Show up before 11:30AM on the weekend if you want to have lunch without waiting in line for 30+ minutes

The consistency over the last five years has been the same since I wrote my last review here. So I won’t change anything except that now we get tapioca for desert if you order up the dinner menu combinations. We usually order the 8 dish combo which comes with rice and soup and a choice of BBQ meat platters for just over $ 100. Come after 8 pm and the rush isn’t so bad. Come between 5 – 7:30 and there’s a lineup.

They have good food and I’m pretty sure this is everyone’s go-to place for congee. The food comes out fairly quick but not all at the same time. Sometimes you get your appetizers at the end, it depends on what the kitchen decides to cook first. If it’s busy, good luck getting a table if you’re not Chinese. They are not a service oriented restaurant so don’t expect to be treated like a queen. I’ve never tried take out, but that might be what I’d do the next time I want food from them.

my go-to place for congee, soup noodles, fried rice/noodles…basically, everything i’d want in a casual chinese restaurant. even though it’s a «noodle restaurant», their seafood dishes are flavourful, fresh(depending on the seafood), and well priced. my family have gone there to eat king crab and was not disappointed in their quality(similar quality and much better priced than sun sui wah restaurant). they have cheaper congee bowls and specials during their weekday mornings(before 11am, i think). i have to admit service is inconsistent. and décor is not the greatest. but it’s comfortable, it’s casual, it’s well priced and has good food.

I wish I still lived in the collingwood area because of this restaurant! I miss eating at Congee Noodle King. The service is terrible but the food is delicious! I recommend their congee and spicy fried squid. The prices are reasonable and the food is decent because it is often packed compared to other chinese restaurants in the area. Bring cash as it is a cash only restaurant. Thankfully there are several banks in the surrounding area if you do forget.

Food here is pretty good but service totally sucks. If you go at prime eating times this place is super busy and there’s usually a line up at the door. The wontons are huge and broth is good. The beef brisket with rice noodles is pretty good too. I also like the salted fish and chicken fried rice. Cash only which sucks but the food is good so we keep coming back! Sometimes I wonder why we coming back. Service is so terrible. The waitresses are lazy and look so miserable. Food is good but that’s about it

The food is alright, but with most Asian restaurants, service lacks. And this place definitely lacks. One time I called for Takeout, I went in to pick it up, I told them I was there to pick up my order and there was no order even made and NOONE told me what was going on. They just ignored me. The girls have a bit of an attitude. They will say it to your face you are wrong if you argue about a dish or the bill. Don’t go here. Waste of your time. There’s other places out there!!! Oh, and cash only, very inconvenient for most Asian restaurants to do that.

Whilst looking for a reasonable noodle place, I decided to have lunch here. As this is a Wonton Noodle restaurant, I ordered their Wonton Noodle. Boy, was I disappointed. The Wonton itself looked large but it does not have any mix of prawn like other wontons I have tried, even though it was described as shrimp and pork wonton. The pork is tasteless so you end up with a lump of pork with no taste. The noodles in soup was a small portion, the noodles was overcooked and did not have the bounce you would expect from wonton noodles. The soup is full of MSG and not much taste. This was a very expensive lunch with poor quality food.

its a real long trek for me to head to Richmond so this is my go-to place for Chinese comfort food: congee, wonton noodle soup, beef brisket, rice noodles and chow mein. If there is a better wonton/congee/noodle place better than this place East of Joyce, I have not found it. The food is consistently good and that is why I keep coming back. The prices are also very reasonable especially when eating with a group. The only real knock on this place is that the service is a bit shoddy at times and given that it is a cash only Chinese restaurant, that is probably pretty standard.

I always drive by this place to and from work and it’s always full so I finally decided to give it a try last night for a late-night snack. Absolutely delicious! The inside is actually not too bad considering it’s a Chinese place. Will absolutely try again. Had the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, quite delicious. Reminds me of the Chinese restaurants that used to be all around Vancouver back in the day.

If you are hoping to get food or service like Sun Sui Wah(which I detest) or Kirin, you are looking in the wrong place. This is the Denny’s/IHOP/the tiny filthy diner that serve you comfort food when you have a hang over. In addition to the congees, the beef stew is by far the best I’ve had in town. Along with the steamed rice rolls and Chinese doughnuts, it’s the killer combo.

Comfort food is what I think this restaurant represents to me. There is a large menu selection but I usually do not come here for the lobster, crab or clams. I come here for the congee, noodles and wontons. The wonton was full of shrimp and was very plump. However, the soup base was too salty that I could not drink it. The Chinese donut was fresh and tasty. It would have been great to eat that with some congee. The noodle dish was crispy with a lot of sauce. There was a good amount of beef. I found that dish to be a bit on the saltier side as well. The service is usually mediocre. There are long line ups during the evening. During the lunch rush, we were ignored for awhile before we were seated by staff. We were the only ones waiting at the front of the restaurant to be seated and there were tables available. Food arrived at an okay pace. They are fast to give us the bill when we asked for it. Cash only.
