Crackle Creme

Cute small space with a bit of outdoor seating. Came here right when it opened on a weekday and there were already a few people sitting inside. Pumped up, we ordered the Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée and 3 of the character macarons. Our dessert came promptly and we dug in.
The crème brûlée was topped with condensed milk. Love the taste of condensed milk but wished they incorporated it somehow into the crème brûlée. It was a bit too sweet but still tasted good. On the other hand, the macarons were just alright. We got the sesame, matcha, and cassis. All tasted very mediocre and I think if it wasn’t for the cute characters, not many people would be buying them.
I would come back to try the pandan coconut crème brûlée (only because I’m a big fan of pandan) but other than that, I probably wouldn’t return. Nothing really stands out at this place and with the competition so high in Vancouver, it’s going to be hard to stand out with just pretty macarons.

Very interesting assortment of flavoured crème brules! I came here many months ago as my first time and I got a pack of the character macarons along with 2 crème brules that I shared. Good tasting and interesting how they had flavours. Came here the other day and tried the Matcha and the Honey Lavender and both were very flavourful. I would definitely come again to try the other flavours

We went to Crackle Crème for some dessert in the afternoon. It wasn’t busy, so we were able to sit down and enjoy the sweets. We ordered two crème brulees, an earl grey one and the mango passionfruit. Along with the crème brulee, we got 5 macarons: green tea, black sesame, lavender, earl grey, and cassis. The crème brulees were phenomenal; they weren’t too big, or too sweet. The flavours were strong enough that it didn’t overpower the cream, and the mango passionfruit had little bits of mango too. That was a good touch. The macarons were very cute with the characters; you could tell each one was made with care and attention. However the taste was not as good as it looked. Also, a lot of the dye used for eyes and other details on the characters bled so our lips, fingers and tongue were dyed dark blue/​black, which revealed how low quality ingredients were used on the macarons.
The prices are fair here, and the portions are decent. We wouldn’t recommend the macarons for the taste, however they are instagram worthy. As for the crème brulee, we would definitely come back for them, both flavours and try some others!

On a recent mini-​vacation to Vancouver, we were in an AirBnB right down the street from Crackle Crème. If there were a Crackle Crème right down the street from my actual house, I would quadruple in size. I’d have my own gravitational field.
What a lovely and charming little shop… lots of fantastic and creative flavors of crème brûlée and ice cream (including vegan options for both), all made in house. And there’s the added feature of getting to watch homedude behind the counter flame up the crème brûlée with the little kitchen torch, right in front of you… the sight, sound and smell of the sugar burning is mesmerizing, and then you get the added bonus of getting to crack the shell with your spoon just before you taste that first bite. Check it: that’s all five senses! Woooo!
(And of course there’s the Sixth Sense… I want to keep eating these until I die; I’m dead and I don’t even know it.)
Lots of other nice touches too, like cool mod furniture, a bit of patio seating, and scented ice water. The liege waffles are excellent if you’re not in a crème brûlée mood. And, super nice guys behind the counter who don’t mind having idiots like me take video of them using the kitchen torch.
Just be careful outside with all of the foot traffic on the sidewalk and bikes going by on the Adanac trail… don’t get run over while you’re in a crème brûlée-​induced stupor. Then you’ll be dead and not even know it too, sucker.

My girlfriends and I have been wanting to come and try out crackle cream for some time now. Now that we made it we couldn’t decide on which ones to get, too many flavors to choose from. Decision, decisions…
Simple, try all, no no (but we almost did)
we had pandan coconut (a must, rich flavor you cant go wrong) honey lavender (that lavender hits you at the end sneaky yet delightfully tasty) salted caramel (classic and did not let me down) white chocolate rose (surprisingly great as well). All tasted great the consistency of the custard was smooth creamy tasty. The the brûlée on top cracked and added the right amount of sweetness. Great cream brûlée, I love places the specializes is one thing and does it well. $ 5 per brûlée worth it! If you have it to go it comes in a cute mason jar. The place is super cute, several bar seatings and offers other desserts such as waffles, cute character macarons (I was totally eyeing the Minion ones). We chatted with the owner as well, super nice guy. I will return to try out other flavors.

I finally got to try this place as I have bookmarked it forever. We came on a Saturday night around 7 pm and there were waves of customers coming in and out. Business is definitely steady. This place is bigger than I have imagined: two sides of bar stools that can maybe sit 10 to 15 people at the VERY most. This place isn’t exactly for those that want to chill and hang out as customers just get take out and go. They offer coffee drinks, waffles, cute character macarons and crème brûlée. They have self-​serve rosemary water at the counter which I find to be very neat as it looks nice with a new refreshing taste. We tried the waffle with nutella drizzle for about $ 5 each. Honestly I’ve had much better tasting waffles before and 5 $ for a small waffle is a bit pricey. The reason why I’ve been wanting to try this place out is because I’ve been seeing those cute little macarons. They have them in Hello Kitty & Sanrio characters, Minions, Totoro & friends and some other ones. The macarons are $ 2.90 each; normally I would think it is rather steep for a macaron but I have to take in consideration that yes it does take time and effort to make them. The macarons are A-​ok tasting only as I’ve had better ones before. I was a bit disappointed to find that their flights of crème brûlée to be gone. They now offer 6 to-​go crème brûlée for 26 $. Paid street parking available.

Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée was yummy! Not too sweet and texture is velvety. The aroma of the café sua da is just about right.
Macarons were extremely expensive but, for the cuteness of it all… who can resist. I bought 12 for my sis and I and it cost me $ 40! It was although really hard but the flavor was there.

I adore this place. Originally came for the photos (and boy did I get cute photos) but the food surprised me as well. we got the milk tea crème brûlée which probably wasn’t the best choice seeing that it was quite bitter. The maracons are soo adorable and detailed, my family loved them, and you just had to get all of them. They were 2.90 each which I consider quite reasonable considering how much extra work is put into them! The place is cute and tucked away too, it was quiet when we went so everything was just perfect

The sheer amount of flavor options at this place is fantastic. Super creative and vibrant flavors and combinations… I wish they still had the flight of 3 option available because I was really looking forward to trying at least a few of them, but alas… that is no longer an option at least for now. They do, however, have a frequent eaters punch card, which you can bet I will try to be filling up in the near future!
So I was debating between the bailey’s, bourbon butterscotch, tiramisu, milk tea, black sesame, vodka lychee and vietnamese coffee with nibs options (too many awesome options, right!!!), but finally decided on the vodka lychee after asking the cashier’s opinion. I am not sure if there was much alcohol in this or if I was just imagining it and it had evaporated while being fired, but the flavor /​heat definitely came through and I loved it. It packed quite a punch, was refreshing, light and really tasty. The coffee with nibs one was also good and just the right amount of cream /​chocolate /​coffee flavor!
From what I can tell, I think the flavor of crème brûlée options change daily –but I think its really fun to see innovative, artistic, creative presentations of old classics and to give a fresh twist to it as well. Not to mention, the macaroons there were super cute and creative, though I never got to try those nor the waffles, which also looked and smelled amazing!
You can tell the owner and shop takes pride in what they produce and serve, and it shows. Well done!

I would go there for the crème brûlée;however, my recommendation would only go for the crème brûlée. I think their waffles weren’t that fresh

The secret is long out — Crackle Crème has the city’s best crème brûlée selection (honey lavender was delightful, still working up to the durian). You can’t beat $ 5 handcrafted brulees and other wonderful sweet treats at unpretentious pricing in such a casual comfy setting. Everything from the crème brulees to adorable Totoro or sanrio themed macarons (see pic — with flavours indicated) to the Belgian leige waffles with ice cream — all made from scratch, right on site.
Was impressed with the friendliness/​helpfulness of the lone employee, as well as the speed of service. Cut them some slack if it’s busy though, this is a small independent doing its best for the local community.
Only downside to this place: no bathroom.

Tried the Bailey’s crème brule, actually made with enough Baileys so you know it’s in there (so not for kids!). Also had the rooibos tea latte, very smooth and not sweet, yet still decadent. They also have liege waffles and adorable macaroons. Neat little gem on the outskirts of Chinatown on a very hip Union street, right on a bike path.

The cute factor in this place is over the top. They have character shaped macaroons. Totoro, the soot sprites, the emoticon poop, minions, and Hello Kitty to name a few. There are so many flavours of crème brule on the menu it is really hard to choose one. They also have a crème brule flight or take home in little canning jars.
I settled on the vegan coconut mango and a friend had the rose and white chocolate. Both were good. The rose while chocolate could have had more rose in it. The mango coconut won the day. I only wish the portions were larger.
When we went there was only one person working. If there is room for two behind the counter I think that the line would go faster. Especially on the weekend.
They torch the sugar right in front of you so be prepared for a bit of a show.

Stopped by for some dessert after dinner and it hit the spot! My family got a Nutella drizzled waffle, earl grey crème brûlée, matcha latte and a 6 pack of macaroons. All were great! There are an insane amount of crème brûlée flavors to choose from that all sound really good.
Also, the themed macaroons are adorable! You can tell they are made with lots of care.
Overall I would definitely return! The only downside is it’s a little on the expensive side, but that’s also to be expected.

Crackle Crème is located right in Chinatown of Vancouver, it’s quite easy to find.
The store is a relatively small space with only a few seats on the inside. It has a hipster vibe and is definitely a good spot for anyone who wants some cute macarons, waffles, or crème brûlée.
The day that we visited the store, there was only the owner working. His attitude was literally a reflection of the weather that day (rainy and gloomy af). Yet, I don’t wanna blame the guy, I could tell he was stressed because it was a busy day. But… DAMMMMN DANIEL, back at it again with that attitude. (I’m 99% sure his name is Daniel and if it’s not then my joke would make this review utterly embarrassing)
My only problem was that the prices for the macarons were not displayed anywhere? Nor were the flavors? I just picked six macarons that I liked best based on their appearance. I ended up getting a box of six and it turned out to be about $ 18 CAD.
The macarons were definitely aesthetically pleasing (super duper cute) and taste wise — they were pretty sweet. I wouldn’t say they’re the best macarons I’ve had because all macarons taste just about the same to me haha.

I walked into this place one evening to try their Crème Brule. I heard about this place on Unilocal and decided I must try it. I ordered the Salted Caramel and the Vietnamese Coffee flavour’s.
The salted caramel was good, the filling had a pleasing taste to it. The vietnamese coffee flavour started off good, had sort of a cream on the top then the hard layer from the melted sugar. Inside flavour was quite bland, nothing too delicious.
The waiter was kind and friendly, he brought my order to were I was sitting. Wasn’t extraordinary, but they have a great selection of Crème Brule. If your looking for something different than the standard flavours that everyone else has then check out this place. Otherwise I’ll stick with my regular flavour at my local dessert shop.

Yummy! I love Crème brûlée. My boyfriend’s friend recommended this place to us and it was well worth the trip. We got the mango coconut and the Ferraro rocher it was so good. The owner was nice and made recommendations on flavours. There’s so many to choose from it was difficult to just pick two.
I know previous review said the owner was rude and didn’t seem happy BUT they have that saying «I’m not angry this is just my face» LOL. He was nice, people are too sensitive.

I like this place. Its unique and interesting. I mean I have had many Crème Brulee in my life time. But mostly vanilla flavor. They have lavender, green tea, latte flavor etc. I have heard that they even have durian flavor. The owner is really friendly.
The only thing is that this place is small. They do have the option of getting 6 crème brûlée for $ 28. Not bad or 1 for $ 5. Very interesting.
The chai tea latte was ok. Taste like any other chai tea but I guess they are famous for their Crème Brulee and not so much for their drinks.
Its located in an area that is starting to become a hipster area. Cool. I will definitely come back for more goodie
