Crafthouse is a social enterprise shop and gallery operated by the Craft Council of BC.

Crafthouse sells and exhibits contemporary craft in the mediums of wood, fibre, glass, ceramic, metal and multi-​media. Work is juried and created by Canadian members of the Craft Council of BC

History

Established in 1986.

Crafthouse was opened in 1986 to coincide with Expo ’86. It’s function was to sell the work of members of the Craft Council of BC.

This was a fantastic experience. I am from Nova Scotia and was visiting Vancouver properly for the first time! I really wanted a beautiful piece of local jewelry as I try to do this for every trip I take. This place was wonderful. I will shop based on service and quality of product and this place had both!!! They were very helpful! This experience exceeded my expectations… and I got a beautiful custom made Linda Read ring that they happily shipped to me! Thank you thank you. I will definitely go there again!

This is my favourite place to go to if I need to find a unique gift for someone. There is every type of artist here and the variety of styles is vast, so you will find something for anyone no matter their age or gender. New items come in all the time which is always nice. The craftsmanship is top notch — it has to go through a whole jury process prior to getting accepted into the shop. Pricing ranges quite a bit… there is something in the shop for any kind of budget, but knowing that it is handmade by local artisans makes me feel good about spending a little extra on an item. You will find textiles, wood, ceramics, men’s and women’s jewellery, glass, papier mache etc.
In the back of the shop there’s also an exhibition space in which you will find a small but interesting craft exhibition by chosen artisan.

I have a soft spot for local artisan shops for their creativity and the uniqueness that can’t be found elsewhere, and Granville island is full of them — Crafthouse being one. The little shop is full of arts and crafts wonders, unique and exciting. You can great creations made from all types of materials, whether it’s an uniquely shaped vase, a beautiful line of jewelry, little colorful fabric pouches or extraordinarily cute rabbit dolls in kimono, you can find it here. The shop is run by the Craft Association of BC and it’s completely non-​profit for supporting the local artisans of Granville island.

You’ll find wood, metal, ceramics, glass, tapestries and mixed media crafts. I fell in love with some adorable sheep paintings. Another great place to spend your money and support local artists on Granville Island.
