History

Established in 1953.

Established in 1953 David Hunter Garden Centers was founded in the fall of 1953 with our first store at Kingsway and Rupert. It was originally called «The Kingsway Garden Shop».

David Hunters operated the store on Kingsway until 1978. The store in Port Coquitlam operated until the summer of 1995. The store on West Broadway closed in December of 2009 after 49 years.

Now in our third generation with David’s grandson Miles taking over the business from his father, Ron. David Hunters currently has two stores. One at 152nd street and 72nd avenue in Surrey and a second at 2560 West Broadway in Vancouver. 2012 year marks our 58th year of service to the gardening community in Greater Vancouver.

Meet the Manager

Miles H.

Manager

Miles has grown up in the retail garden center business. The company was started by my grandfather in 1953 and is owned and operated by my father. Miles started by working in the Nursery at an early age caring for the trees and shrubs. Miles started working in the Garden Centers at age 14 and worked at the Surrey store, the Port Coquitlam store, and the West Broadway store. Miles enjoys working with customers to find solutions to gardening problems.
