Our new favorite place to go souvenir shopping when we’re in Vancouver. Only dollar store that we’ve found so far(and, believe me, we’ve looked) that has a good selection of Canada souvenirs. Being from Hawaii, buying souvenirs(for EVERYONE back home) is a must. So you can imagine our excitement when we found dollar(well, $ 1.25CAD) souvenirs! We stockpiled Canada themed: beanie hats, socks, gloves, mittens, shoelaces and key chains. SCORE!!! They also had shopping bags, ear warmers, stickers, flags and a bunch of other things. We are definitely stopping here again on our next visit!

Amazing selection and super friendly staff. Tons of homeless people and hilarious drama to watch.

I love dollar stores, in fact they are the high light of my week when I do go. I have been here twice. Both times on the way to a show at a nearby club or to the Rickshaw. They have everything I want in a dollar store, two floors of it. Here is where this is flat with me, I understand the type of hood that it is in, that is a given, however, is there a need for rude staff. I know that their patience is tested by some off the people that come in here but I was nice and friendly and yet I was met with attitude. I was aware of the security guard following me for a bit but he eventually left me alone when I guess he figured that I was legit. I came here to get some party supplies for a B-day party.

To be honest. Located in China town, a lot homeless, drunker and thief around around, so they treat customer as thief, not appreciated every penny we spent is certain important to support your store and your salary. Sadly to say, I will not back here again. Does Vancouver is expensive city? Another way to think that should this place is worth to pay more then a dollar and treat customer as SXXT. Especial many senior people shopping here and you guys are so awful. Besides that cashier attitude point:” I can not serve you, because you didn’t on the line« and $ 1.25 + Tax, No more A dollar anymore. Remember«Company Policy» «NOREFUND, ONLYEXCHANGE» what BullSXXT, where is customer’s right?

it seemed pretty sketchy when i came here. there were homeless people and druggies in the area and also in the store, but i was too excited to be concerned. i loved this store because they had a lot of the«as seen on tv» items that they sell for 10−20x the price in america. bags of candy that would sell in stores for $ 4.99 were only a dollar. i found some merchandise that were less than a dollar as well. this is definitely one of the stores i’m hitting up when in vancouver again!

Not the greatest location due to the area, but for me it was convenient at the moment. We were in the middle of Chinatown area and my sunglasses just broke. I couldn’t find a decent pair around, so I just decided to check out the Dollar Store. Obviously, I bumped into this store by luck. Most of everything was priced at $ 1.25, which was still cheap as crap. I need sun protection and my eyes were happy campers after my UV protective sunglasses. The service was friendly, due to the shady area the clientele is what was expected. I was in and out, however the store was clean and well stocked. Who knew the Dollar Store existed in Canada too? Now I do.

I’ve been a customer of this particular Dollar Giant in Chinatown for quite some time, now I’ve feel inclined of how this one has changed for the worst. Their new security guard is an absolute douchebag. He wears his avaitor glasses so that people can’t see his eyes, and wife beater shirts underneath his uniform. In addition, he stalks everyone who walks in the store like a hawk and there’s a new policy since he’s been working there where you can’t have bags in the store. He should be a bouncer at Nightclub for douchebags with his attitude. I understand that the Chinatown Dollar Giant is right next to Skid row so there could be a high rate of shoplifting but you can’t treat everyone who walks in the store like a criminal. Very disrespectful to paying customers. Go to some other dollar giant/dollarama if you can. They also have a better selection of goods from what I’ve seen. Avoid

How I love dollar stores, and Dollar Giant is one of my favourites. Everything for $ 1.25 or less?! How is that not awesome!?! I had never been at this particular location before because I usually try to avoid this part of town, but today I was passing through and decided to stop in because I needed a few notebooks. This place is huge and has the best selection of any Dollar Giant I have seen. Thank the Gods I only had $ 5 in my wallet, otherwise I probably would have gone a little bit overboard. My only complaint was the lack of customer service from the cashier. Yes, you have a shitty minimum wage job. Yes, this place is a block from Main and Hastings and you probably deal with Vancouver’s finest citizens on a daily basis. Sure you probably hate your job and your life, but for crying out loud, I put my hand out to receive my change after gently placing that five dollar bill in your hand and you THREWINONTHECOUNTER!!! Not a «I’m scared of touching your hand so I’m going to place this change on the counter and make you pick it up», you threw it. Right beside my open hand. And for this Dollar Giant, you only get four stars.
