Elite Event: Spicy Spanish Soiree at Cabrito

My very first Elite event. *Awwwww* Didn’t exactly know what to expect and was a tad bit intimidated. Still can’t get over how everyone was super friendly and down to mingle. Some interesting conversations over delicious samplers and sangria. A few attendees felt the sangria was a bit strong but I’m glad I had 2 drink tickets. =P
The food was a-​okay. I wish they had a wider selection… there were 3 – 4? They brought out a lot of the same items and it got boring afterwards.
Note: la, la loved the card making stations. Definitely a hit with a lot of people. Made some cards to be gifted to friends. Hehe.
Just so glad I didn’t chicken out. Can’t wait for more cool elite events in 2016. Thanks Ayla!

I’m really liking Ayla’s style of Elite events. Great for socializing and schmoozing with other Elites, while not being too club-​like or over the top crazy. Finally had a chance to meet some of the «Red Elites» and chat with them for a bit. Feeling the weight and responsibility on my shoulders to mentor the new ‘uns.
The appetizers they served were pretty delicious. I would definitely be back to try their other items. As some of the others have mentioned, it was a bit curious that the main guy was actually French and not Spanish (the theme of the restaurant). Nothing wrong with that though — the food is good. One of the better tasting sangrias I’ve had in recent memory too.
Special mention to the Christmas card stamping station. Initially I was a bit skeptical, but once I sat down and realized how many stamps were available, my friend and I went nuts. I don’t think I left the table the entire night.
Cheers to Ayla for organizing another fun and social night.

I’m not sure if it was the super strong (but delish) sangria or the holiday spirit, but I got kind of obsessed with making holiday cards using all the cool stamps. The samples left a little something to be desired, especially after the spread put on at JamJar for our Elite event earlier in the year, but the atmosphere of Cabritos is great and the full menu looks delish! Thanks to Wendy I met some new (to me) Unilocal peeps, so that was great — new resto, new cards, new peeps — all good!

A very fun night with great company. The space has a great natural minimalist vibe, the staff wonderfully friendly and good food. A good recipe for an awesome night!

What better way to spice up a rainy Tuesday night than to attend a Unilocal Elite event at a brand new Spanish restaurant? I love what they did with the space, a bright colourful mural as the focal point, with simple white walls and plants on the wall.
With a sangria to start off the night, we took a seat at the long communal table. There was a mini craft stamping station. The tapas were delicious. I especially like the Quail’s egg on top of a flavourful piperade, and serrano on toast. I also enjoyed the tortilla with buttersquash, as well as the roasted beet tartare. It was unlike anything I ever had. Who knew, beet tartare could taste so good.
It was a great event, with a smaller group of Unilocalers. It was a good space to mingle and talk, and of course, meeting some new Unilocal Elites!
Thank you Ayla and Cabrito for a great event, and I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! (Smoked patata bravas!)

Thanks Ayla for a lovely pre-​holiday event at a warm and inviting location. It’s great fun having the craft corner at events and we really enjoyed trying to find our match with the joke-​game. Nice festive touch.
The tapas were a bit ho-​hum rather than yum-​yum but they clearly have a very extensive menu beyond what they had us sample.
I really like the artwork and lighting. It contributes to a very Mediterranean feel.

Great event, venue and even greater party people. This might be my first elite event ever but not my first Unilocal event (edits for Marc D.) Kudos to Ayla for another job well done. Special mention to Wendy L who generously gave me her drink stick. I had 3 sangria instead of 2! I slept like a baby afterwards ha ha!
Will be back for sure to try the rest of the menu.

Great event and venue. Thanks Ayla for setting this up, you truly are the ‘fun wrangler’. I particularly liked the card making station, something crafty like that is a nice ice breaker for those of us who can be a little shy.
The shop itself is a newly opened tapas restaurant on the Drive, located in a funky contemporary space. Our Unilocal event really packed out the place so at first it was a little hard to move around and enjoy the appetizers but once the crowd thinned out a bit, it was perfect. The servers were able to move around more and get their tasty treats out to those of us still there.
Was my first time trying quail eggs which were amazing. Why didn’t someone tell me these were so tasty sooner?
I will for sure make an effort to visit this place again soon.

A fun way to spend an hour on a weekday.
Interesting space. Would have loved to try a greater array of the restaurant’s offerings.
Unfortunately owners or staff don’t speak Spanish.

My second Unilocal elite event and it was so much fun! Loved checking out this new lil gem on the Drive. The food was tasty (my fav was the roasted red peppers and quail egg) and the sangria was SO good. Stole some IPA off my plus one and that was delicious as well.
Loved the mural on the walls and the patio as well. Will be coming back on our own to check out the rest of the menu!
