Essentia Mattress

This mattress is unbelievable! I have the Tatami which was good enough for me. It is a bit firm and is a bit firmer than the one they have in display in store, but I like it a bit firm. I have never slept better! When I go on vacation I seriously miss my bed. A mattress is the best investment you can make of your life, you spend more than half your life on it (well some of us do) and its really important we take care of our bodies and health and this mattress is as good as it gets. Plus its organic, made/​derived from Bamboo which is all natural. This was very important to me since I didn’t want to be breathing in harsh chemicals of any kind. I went back and got myself a travel pillow as well :) Sooo Comfy and it comes with a lock button so you don’t lose it off your neck!

We bought the Dormeuse mattress a month ago, and so far are very pleased with it. It’s much more comfortable than our old coil pillowtop. We haven’t had miracle recoveries from our insomnia or aches and pains, but I think there’s been some improvement. Overall we are very happy with this purchase.

I love this store. I bought 2 classic pillows last year but somehow it took me forever to use mine because at first I thought it was uncomfortable and worried that it would hurt my back further. I guess I needed to get used to it!
However, after multiple neck strains probably related to bad sleeping movements, I decided to give it another try only a few weeks ago. It is the best thing ever. my neck now feels a 100% better and the pillow is so comfortable that I don’t move as much during the night. Today I bought 2 swayback pillows (I like options ok?) and cannot wait to use them.
Next on the list is the Beausommet mattress. It is so comfortable and I can bet that my back pain will disappear too once I get it.

In a bid to improve sleep and satisfied that I had gotten enough wear out of the Ikea mattress my sister had insisted she buy after spending an inhospitable night on the wooden floors of my then-​barren apartment, I got on the internet to find something better.
Hours surfing the world of coils, foam, off-​gassing, and latex lead me through the doors of Essentia on 4^th Avenue.
After introducing herself and a short discussion during which the salesperson steered me away from the cheapest «Jeanius» (the one I went to first), the salesperson busied herself with her papers, as I set about looking to see if there was a mattress just right for me.
Long minutes were spent staring up at the store ceiling as I considered each model. Soon, I noticed that there was an initial left shoulder and lower back soreness (problem areas for my posture) that soon dissipated each time I lay down. Also, that whenever I got up from an Essentia mattress, I felt as though I’d just had a physio or good RMT session. In wonder, I related my observation to the woman. She nonchalantly replied that memory foam helped align the body properly.
I looked across the narrow show room and resigned myself to juggling my finances to be able to buy one of these pricey mattresses, but which one? The Salesperson assured me that they expected people to make multiple visits to make their final choice.
On my second visit, I was elated to find that their cheaper Classic 8 was it.
I lucked out in timing (Or, was it god telling me to buy the mattress?). It was just about sale time, so I was given the sale price and since it was before the influx of orders that inevitably occur during sales, my mattress was delivered (for free) not too long after.
After lugging, pushing, and heaving it into place and letting it unroll, I lay down. Lovely.
The mattress had a faint, pleasant smell of roasted soy beans (tell me I’m wrong!) that went away a few days later. It’s cool and not a heat trap, as advertised. And, there is good support with no indentations (as someone had reviewed about the Jeanius) and no rear end touching the bottom of the mattress (as someone said about the Classic Skinny) 3 months later.
Worth it!

Absolutely love our Essentia mattress, about to purchase a crib mattress for our baby as well. Without hesitation would recommend this company to anyone who cares about their health, the environment, and supporting Canadian made products.

Yes it is expensive
BUT we spend ¹⁄₃ of our lives sleeping (or trying to)

I really like the mattress. The Dormeouse is much more comfortable than any other mattress I’ve had. One negative effect is that I Really like just lying in bed now. Watch out, these mattresses encourage laziness!

Best mattress I’ve ever owned. I bought the Beausommet and I’ve never slept better from day 1. It doesn’t smell when you get it. It just feels great. I’ve had it for about a year now. No noticeable sagging or bumps/​valleys.
The shopping experience was good at the kits store. It does take a little while for the mattress to be delivered. I think it took 4 weeks or something. It felt like forever :) I just really wanted to have it as soon as I bought it.
Anyway, worth the price? Probably. It really depends how it wears but so far so great.
Addendum (Jan. 2012): The mattress is still super and I convinced my bf to buy his own. Also bought a ergonomic pillow which I love.

Just few words to describe the product itself; «Like No Other»!
I liken Essentia to Don Quichotte…
Such small (and young) company against a multi-​billion dollar industry, who has been both robbing your money (with products which caves in after few months) and poisoning you with carcinogenic chemicals for so long.
Guess what; unlike Don Quichotte, Essentia is winning that war; one conscious customer at a time.
For the hosts in Essentia Vancouver shop; both Crystal and Angelo have been extremely helpful. No sales pressure at all. They took their time to answer all of our questions, in a friendly manner and with pure sincerity.
After trying few different models, we chose one and placed our order on the spot.

Very happy with my purchase of an Energie Opus mattress! It’s amazingly comfy and gives real peace of mind knowing it’s not off-​gassing all those chemicals and carcinogens found in conventional mattresses (and even in some so-​called natural latex mattresses like the Talalay method ones).
I got a note from my doctor asking them to leave out the Kevlar flame retardant, normally required by silly laws for import to the U.S.
I realize it’s more expensive, but if you want the most comfortable mattress with real peace of mind, buy once and buy right. It’ll last you the next 25+ years.
