I started taking weekly Prenatal Aquafit at 11 weeks pregnant & by the halfway mark of my pregnancy I was going twice a week. Due to various pool renovations, I ended up taking shallow water classes at the YWCA downtown & the YMCA on Burrard, plus deep-water classes at the now-defunct Percy Norman pool at 30th& Ontario. My instructors Melanie & Michelle were friendly, supportive, knowledgeable & very encouraging. Those classes were honestly the highlight of my week when I started getting big enough to waddle. It wasn’t just the near-weightlessness of the water, it was the socializing encouraged by the instructors & the accessible atmosphere. No matter what your fitness level or how uncomfortable your pregnancy, Fit 4 Two instructors can help you stay healthy & fit right to your due date. Once baby was born, I tried the Stroller Fitness class with Melanie again, as well as the Tummies for Mommies & Infant Massage class with Callie. I really enjoyed both classes because of the socializing that the classes encourage(lots of partner work & usually mamas go out for coffee after class). The instructors take time to get to know you & send you useful info after each class by email. With alternating drills, strength training & speed walking with babes, the mom & baby courses they offer are very flexible & paced to keep mamas sweating & babies happy. If you’re pregnant or have a young baby, go!

Their prenatal classes are phenomenal. I can’t say enough good things about Fit 4 Two. My instructor, Melanie, is amazing at getting all the preggies going and always provides great tips and advice in all things prenatal for in and out of the gym. I’ve tried their Aqua Fit, Prenatal Fitness(at the Roundhouse) and their Outdoor Prenatal Fitness and all are highly recommended. I started at 17 weeks but you can join anytime, so long as you’ve got your dr or midwife’s ok. The classes are a mix of aerobic/cardio and strength/light weight exercises and are paced for any fitness/pregnancy level. Nothing can compare to the atmosphere, vibe and all around healthy environment Fit 4 Two provides. As well as the added benefit of being around other preggies interested in staying healthy during pregnancy, Fit 4 Two has been an invaluable experience for me as a first timer.
