Gastown

Très beau quartier, l’un des plus anciens de Vancouver ! Les rues ponctuées de terrasses et de pubs invitent à la convivialité et les bâtiments de briques rouges nous plongent dans une atmosphère particulière. Dans ce quartier on peut voir le bâtiment le plus vieux de la ville, on peut flâner dans les boutiques d’arts native, on peut visiter le musée de la police et entrevoir au détour d’une rue l’océan ou encore la célèbre horloge à vapeur. Incontournable lors de votre visite de la ville. par contre qq petites ruelles sont occupées par des drogués, à éviter donc.

schöné Gassen in Vancouver mit vielen kleinen Restaurants und Geschäften. Es lohnt sich hier mal einen Abend lang zu laufen. Man kann von bar zu bar ziehen :) Eine Attraktion hier ist die steam clock. Sie wird, wie der Name schon verrät, mit Wasserdampft betrieben, wohl die einzige der Welt dieser Art.
Wer sich dafür interessiert, kann es sich anschauen. Jedoch übersieht man die Uhr sehr leicht. Einen Ausflug ist es wert.

Fußläufig von Downtown Vancouver entfernt, ist dieser Stadtteil eher für Touristen eine weitere kleine Attraktion. Man verbleibt in der Illusion etwas entdecken zu können und der morbide Charme steht hier aber auf der Kippe zur Schmuddelecke. Ab einem gewissen Punkt (wo der Touristencommerz endet) lohnt sich das Weiterlaufen nicht mehr.

Super schönes Plätzchen in Vancouver! Muss man unbedingt gesehen haben.

‘The’ place for tourist shopping in Vancouver, I was a little under-​whelmed. It’s not that it’s bad, just I found it commercial, maybe slightly pricey, and little unoriginal. If you are looking for pressies to take back home, you’ll find more unusual stuff, and more bargains, at Granville Island or the Vancouver Aquarium gift shop.
Highlights of my visit were The Old Spaghetti House restaurant and seeing a tree that had been blown down turned into sawdust.
Visit for lunch, and if you want to get the shopping done quick.

We went down to Gastown not knowing what exactly to expect. We had heard about the clock and were, I must say, quite disappointed to see how tiny it was! Still, the crowds gathered and if you’re in the area during the steam show every fifteen minutes you may as well wait and watch. There were quite a few cute and quirky stores in the area, as well as some really good restaurants. As everyone else has mentioned, if you’re not a local then stick with the crowds or get advice, there are some parts of Vancouver you don’t want to walk around alone

I enjoyed visiting Gastown but it still felt a little touristy to me and you also had to be careful in certain parts and it is better to make sure you stick to where the crowds are or where the locals advise. Enjoyable and somewhere you should visit all the same.

Gastown ist der historische Kern von Vancouver. Bekannt vor allem durch die Steam Clock, einer Dampfuhr, die alle 15 Minuten eine Melodie abspielt. Neben einigen Restaurants und Cafes, gibt es hier auch die meisten Souvenirläden, wo man von Kitsch bis zu hochwertigen Holzarbeiten, die mehrere 10 000 Dollar kosten alles was das Touristen Herz begehrt. Als ich dort war, waren auch sehr viele Obdachlose auf den Strassen, die allerdings relativ höflich sind.

Gastown is a fun part of Vancouver with some great restaurants, thousands of souvenir shops and the famous steam clock which attracts the crowds who want to see its show every 15 minutes. Be careful if you’re walking to and around here though, there are some dodgy areas quite close by and it’s easy to find yourself in them by mistake. Ask locals for advice or stick to the buses. Otherwise a great place to spend an afternoon.

Gastown ist die Altstadt von Vancouver und ein Gründungspunkt. Dort wurde eine erste Gaststätte eroffnet und in Gastown steht wohl die merkwürdigste Uhr der Welt, sie wird von Dampf betrieben und ist damit wohl die einigste steam. clock der Welt. Hier gibt es gute Geschäfte, feine Restaurants und wenn man es chnesich mag, Chinatown ist gleich nebenan.
