Best fish and chips in Vancouver, but there are way too many chips in an order. If there are two of you, it’s a good idea to share the fries from a single order of fish and chips. The soups are often pretty decent too, and quite comforting during the winter months. I am a huge fan of the tacones. Both the salmon and the tuna tacones are excellent and a good value for lunch(2 for $ 10). The cole slaw that comes with the fish and chips and in the tacones is quite good. Has a nice kick to it without being too spicy. It’s also quite cumin-y. If you like waiting in lines, come here during lunch on a warm sunny weekend. If you hate lines, come here when it’s wet and gloomy. All seating is outdoors, but a few seats are covered by an awning. Bundle up and bear with it, or order to go and enjoy it at home or in the car.

A little expensive to be sitting on plastic chairs or at the picnic table, and the drunken, grubby looking cooks might make you lose your appetite, but aside from all that and the 25 minute wait for our fish and chips, this is a great little restaurant(if you could call it that). The view of False Creek and Granville Island while eating our delicious fish and chips deserves a star for that very reason alone. I’d even go back just for the fries(sooo good)!

Nice place to relax by the water and grab a bite to eat. If you’ve been to Red Fish Blue Fish however, this is definately subpar. The flavors here are just not as good and the food doesn’t feel as good of quality. This place is super busy 99% of the time so be prepared to wait for your food. They serve west coast seafood items and more! Fish and chips is apparently their specialty, but I was not impressed. The chips were undercooked and the fish was overcooked. Also had their salmon burger which was pretty meh, although their bun was pretty good. Service is pretty nice and their location is perfect for a nice day meal or for a family outing by the water.

Ehh, I don’t know, despite the rave reviews I was not a fan of the fish and chips here. It is a small tiny little place so it gets packed quick, and judging from other Unilocal reviewers that’s a norm for them. They are located close to Granville Island so they probably get a ton of tourists. My sister and I were lucky because when we came there was hardly anyone there. My guess was because it was freezing out that day and being by the water it got pretty windy. We only waited about 20 minutes or so for our food. They told me, when I ordered, that the food would take about 15 mins which I took as a good thing because who does not love fresh fried fish. My sister got the soup of the day which happened to be a hot and sour fish soup. Hot and sour fish soup… that does not sound appealing to me at all. She seemed to like the soup, all I could taste was incredibly fishy tasting soup. Finally our fish and chips came out, we both ordered the one piece cod fish and chips. It came out in a Chinese wooden steam basket which I thought was amusing. It had a lot of fries, and don’t get me wrong the fries were really good. Probably one of the better tasting and texture fries I have had, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but a tad bit too salty for me. They were thick fries too which I loved. The order came with a small helping of tartar sauce and cole slaw. The cole slaw was very good. What I liked about it was that it was that the dressing they used was not too creamy and they used purple lettuce and sesame seeds. Freshest coleslaw I have had in a while, I wish I could have gotten more of the coleslaw considering that I ended up eating mine and my sister’s. Their tartar sauce was okay, personally it tasted very buttery to me which is odd considering I do not think tartar sauce has butter in it. The fish was probably my least favorite, yes I will agree the fish does seem super fresh, or at least I hope it is considering they are right by the water, but the portion of fish to chips was so off. There were so many fries and the fish size they gave was pretty small. It was all batter and the fish did not taste like anything. I will give them compliments for how flaky the fish was though but to me it was very bland, not much flavor as another Unilocaler said, it was very underwhelming. Neither I nor my sister managed to finish our meals which is unheard of for me, we took the rest of it to go but sadly ended up just throwing it away because neither one of us really wanted to eat the leftovers.

Looking for a great place for fish and chips? Well this is the place to be! Everything was very fresh and made from scratch. The coleslaw is very refreshing and goes very well with the fish we had. We also grabbed a taco on the side. Very yummy! It seems like its not very filling at first, but after all the goods inside the fish and from the fresh fries we all ended up with a good«burp». Also, the view and the fresh air is a plus! :)

I was taking a visit from San Francisco and took the aquabus to Granville Island. We were looking for the best seafood place nearby and this is what we found. All I can say is, Yum. Their fish and chips are amazing! They were so crispy and buttery. I think this is the best fish and chips joint that I ever had! I didn’t even order the fish and chips, myself. My friend ordered it. I was about to eat all of his food! I regret not buying one to-go.

I ordered two fish and chips. The fish was cod. Oh man! The fish tasted juicy and fresh. I couldn’t taste that the fish was frozen before. The coleslaw salad was great as well. Fries were delicious that were crispy. Probably Go Fish fried the fries twice to come up with a crispy texture. It was cute that the fish and chips were placed in a Chinese steamed basket. The only downside was the wait time was too long. It was longer than I expected. I was eating the fish and chips. A couple who sat beside me also waited for a long time. When they were eating, I asked if they liked the fish and chips. They said very good! They were actually tourists from England who always eats fish and chips in their home country. They searched online and found Go Fish. Foreigners also said Go Fish was good. I would agree that it was very good!

Still good after all these years. Fluffy, succulent, tender fish. Crisp, tasty fries. The one major caveat is the epic wait time, both in the line up and afterwards while waiting for the food. You might as well order, go for a walk, and come back in about 30 – 45 minutes to get your food.

I rarely do but, I’m going to keep this review simple only because this IS the greatest halibut fish and chips in the world. It’s not easy to be a native to California and crave fish and chips a thousand miles away. We make it a point whenever we travel to Vancouver to come here. It is fresh, consistent, and absolutely sublime. The texture of Fresh halibut is of no comparison. The chips are great, too.

I don’t like to brag, but I studied fish tacos for 4 years in university, so I know a thing or two about fish tacos. And based on my expert opinion, these guys make the best fish tacos in the world. I’ve tried fish tacos in Ottawa, Toronto, Oahu and Maui, and they don’t compare to go fish. The taco had the perfect ratio of fish to seaweed. The sauce was perfectly balanced. It was basically textbook. I highly recommend go fish to all the other fish tacodies out there.

I had the salmon sandwich, which was flavourful and fresh, but I felt like it needed more fish. * shrugs * My partner had the cod and chips, which I tasted, and was hands down the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Fresh, not too much batter on the fish, and the chips were nice and crisp, and fresh, if not a little salty. My partner bought the«two piece» cod and chips which was a really big basket of food. He is a really good eater with stuff like this and couldn’t get through it, leaving a third of the fries behind. It took 35mins to get through the line to order, then another 15mins to wait for our food. This was on a Saturday, and we got in line 15mins after they opened. Lots of seating outside considering how many people they go through. We didn’t have a problem grabbing a table after ordering. If you’re looking for super fish and chips while in town I can’t think of a better place to go than Go Fish.

Oh my! Cold wet day in Vancouver, so we decided we needed chowder. Unilocal directed us to Go Fish and it was amazing. Enjoyed the Thai fish coconut chowder and halibut and chips. Got to say it’s the best fish and chips I think I have ever eaten. The batter on the fish was superb, not at all greasy, and the fish was like butter. An amazing find and I would recommend to anyone, don’t eat in the market it’s well worth the short walk to this«shack».

As some have already mentioned, the batter at Go Fish is really amazing and perfectly done. I am almost tempted to say I enjoy this place better than Pajo’s(blasphemy, I know…). It’s not overwhelming, not overly greasy, and not a hint of sogginess! The fish itself is very fresh, and it comes with this wonderful, very refreshing, non-mayo-drenched, sesame coleslaw. Portions are huge and one order of fish and chips is plenty for me. However we are gluttons, so we ordered an additional two tacones for each of us! Which is a perfect segway into my rant about how much I love these things! For $ 10 you can get two seafood filled tacos(rolled in a cone — hence the tacone) topped with the Go Fish coleslaw and various other ingredients to make for one flavour packed, drool worthy, experience. I’m drooling just remembering this. My favourite has to be the pacific fish(mix of cod and halibut) which has a bit of a spicy kick to it. I also enjoyed the very thin, soft taco shell, which is lightly grilled so you get a nice bit of crispy texture to your tacone. And because it is decently thin, you’re not drowning in bread either. While the seating is limited, and you will probably have to wait in line, the food is definitely worth it. Just come either right at opening, or after the lunch time run as some have recommended. Or call in before hand!

Delicious fish and chips Perfectly beer battered and non greasy fresh fish and chips! The establishment itself reminds me a bit of a food truck. But with a nice view. All the glowing reviews and overhyped for a good reason. Me n my friend waited 40 mins to get food, that sucked. The line up was still long at 1 pm, may be best after 2 pm. The best item to get is the halibut(much better than cod) fish and chips for $ 12(for one piece) or the red curry clam soup($ 5) There are few seating areas but all outdoor uncomfy benches as it’s not a restaurant. The portions are American and even this eating machine got satisfied after one order and with soup. I will be a returning customer for sure thank you Go Fish!

This is a quirky little place. Quite literally a shack, standing across from a parking lot, facing Fisherman’s Wharf where they get their fish fresh everyday. The setting couldn’t be more perfect for eating Halibut Fish and Chips, looking across the water, the beautiful city waterfront, the boats sails lazily swaying back and forth, the people buying shrimp and fish off of the boats. Be prepared to see a long line up — the food is just that good and word has gotten around. But rest assured, that service is quick so you’ll find the line steadily moving along. THEFOOD: You can choose your fish, generally Cod, Halibut and Salmon. You can also get a side of coleslaw with your big thick cut fried. They have other options as well like grilled fish sandwiches, and tartar was on the special’s menu when we had arrived. We opted for halibut fish and chips with an oyster po’boy. — Halibut Fish and Chips: So, so good. The best we’ve ever had! The fish was tender and delicately flaky, perfectly moist. The batter was crunchy without being too oily, and delicate enough in taste that the fish really had a chance to shine. We loved their thick cut fries as well. Their little side of coleslaw was delicious with a good quality tartar sauce, unnecessary since the fish was so good, but a nice option to have! — Oyster Po’Boy: Also the best we’ve ever had! The oysters were phenomenal, so clean and fresh tasting, with none of the bitterness that can come with the innards. We could have eaten several of these sandwiches if our stomachs could handle it!

We walked over to Go Fish from Granville Island. It was a nice walk along the seawall. There was a line to order when we got there but it went by pretty fast. I overheard that the estimated time to get our order was 30 minutes but we were able to pick up our food in ~10 minutes or less. We ordered the oyster po boy(BBQ oyster burger) and 2 pieces of halibut and chips for here. The fish and chips were placed in a dim sum wooden container which I found pretty neat. They give you A LOT of fries! As for the oyster po boy, the BBQ oyster was so tasty!

Always loved it here the first time I came about 5 years ago on a visit to Vancouver. This time, after walking around Granville island on a Friday afternoon decided to see if we could catch a bite at Go Fish. It was 3pm in the afternoon and we were in luck! No line! We ordered a very fresh oyster poy-boy made on their version of Tartine bread. So so good! Great view, being outside and enjoying this fresh seafood was amazing! I have had their scallop burger before(see review on my blog from a few years back) and was sad to not see it. Maybe it is seasonal or only comes back as a special. So, definitely go! If you don’t want to wait go after the lunch rush!

The tacones are top notch. Prices are great. Outdoor seating is great if weather holds. Fish & chips: halibut was fantasic, chips were decent enough but not remarkable. This place would get a higher rating if not for extremely long wait times for service(both ordering + receiving food). Pro tip: Come if it is nice out and you have a LOT of time, skip the fish n chips but order a pile of tacones.

Whhaaaaaaaaat in the name of fried halibut is going on here?! This place is something special… Fish and chips are the best in the city, and that’s not even the best thing on the menu! Go for the Tacones! Might need 2(3 if you’re starving) but these little palate ninjas will keep you up at night thinking about your next chance to tango with them, which is why they currently rank as my favorite thing to eat in the city. It’s like that.
