A good middle ground place where we used to play tennis after leaving DT, with some friends living in Burnaby. There’s 4 courts and wait times are generally good. Can be a bit noisy and distracting with major cars during rush hour on the single lane of E. 33rd Ave. The park looks small, with a kids playground, but on the other northern side, quite the large open space. Looking forward to the summer.

I subjected myself to a one-year-old’s birthday party. There were a total of six sugar-high-screaming children from the ages of one to three. For enduring that I deserve a goody bag. It was the best birth control I have ever had. We spent the afternoon at Gray’s Park, which has a small wading pool for the chit’lins in the summer, free of charge. There is a life guard guy on duty also, who’s only role during my stay was to tell me that my little Boston Terrier was not allowed in the water. Poor sweet and quiet Bruno, he had to endure the screaming, the grabbing, and the heat too, and he didn’t even get any cake! The grassy field at the park is mostly burnt and yellowish brown. At least I was able to take Bruno off-leash and play ball with him, and there were a few trees so he could get Gremlin-faced and pant like a dirty phone sex operator and try to stay cool beneath them. The park isn’t all that bad though, they did have some toys in the wading pool for the little ones to play with, like noodles and weird water-squirting-things. There was also a small rec. hall that you could rent for a birthday party, which came with bathrooms, a few tables and a kitchen. This is what my friends rented for this party, and it worked out pretty well, except getting any of the kids to pay attention to anything for more than two seconds was like herding cats.
