Home Run Movers

We wanted to work with a smaller, local company so Home Run seemed like a good choice. We were relocating from Surrey to Texada Island and Ty and his crew were up for the challenge: three ferries, super tight connections, and a lot of stairs to climb (sorry for so many heavy book boxes going to the top floor). Ty did his estimate with me remotely as we had already moved up to the island and his guys loaded up the truck with lightning speed. There were a few glitches in making all of the ferries at the right time, but that was to be expected as I said before, the connections are tight and of course we weren’t charged for the delays and subsequent unplanned overnight stay on Texada. The boys were all super-​friendly, courteous, and professional. They also helped me pack my car which was a bonus! We had a large, evil, treadmill that they had to dismantle to bring in the house. Putting it back together was a chore, but they managed it well. They even assembled our annoying Ikea queen bed! What was most impressive was how quickly they unloaded. I’ve never met anyone who loved heavy lifting more than these guys! They may advertise as a local mover, but they can pull off anything!

Hired Ty and two of his helpers to move a 3^rd storey two bedroom from lonsdale avenue in North Van to a 12 th storey condo in Port Moody. As soon as they arrived they kicked it into 5^th gear. Hard working, efficient and friendly. They completed the entire move in 3 hours flat. I would without doubt use them again.

I chose these movers based on the Unilocal reviews and the fact that they actually answered the phone when I was calling on the 1^st of the month. The move itself went really well. They packed the truck flawlessly and didnt damage anything. The movers had a great work ethic. My reason for only 4 stars was that on the phone I was promised 3 movers and 1 truck, but what showed up was 2 movers and 1 truck. This meant that the move took 4 hours instead of 3, and we had a dedicated move-​in time in the new place. We ran into the next people’s move-​in slot by 45 minutes but they didn’t seem to mind so it all worked out okay in the end.

After doing many moves ourselves, which normally involves renting a U-​Haul, asking friends and family for help in exchange for beer and pizza, and generally a lot of stress, I decided to book movers when we moved into our house. My sister-​in-​law recently used Home Run Movers, so I decided to book our move with them as well.
Ty is really friendly, and it was really easy to book the move. I was completely up front with Ty, we have A LOT of stuff. I gave him a list of the amount of stuff we had to move, including a full patio set + 8 chairs, a BBQ, two queen beds + boxsprings, and a large tool bench. Ty was really accommodating, and assured me that it would be no problem to move all of our stuff. We booked the move for 9:30 AM on a Saturday morning. We also purchased two mattress bags from them.
Three movers arrived at 9:15 AM on Saturday morning with two 2.5 ton trucks. The three guys, Quinn, Rob, and Jay, were absolutely fantastic. Ty assured me that his movers hustle, and they definitely do! They emptied our apartment really fast, and managed to tetris all of our stuff into both trucks with ease. The only items that didn’t fit in the truck was our two flat screen TV’s since the movers didn’t want them to get damaged. The movers packed the TV’s securely in the car, and unpacked them for us as soon as we got to our new home.
Unloading went just as smoothly in our new place, except our three seat couch and queen boxsprings wouldn’t fit up our first staircase. The guys quickly set up a pulley system and were efficiently able to get everything into our place using our second floor balcony, with no damage!
The entire move took 5.5 hours and cost less than $ 1000. I paid by credit card using Square, which does add 3.5% to the bill, which Ty is completely up front about. You can save this 3.5% cost by paying using a money transfer.
Overall, I was very happy with Home Run Movers, and I will happily recommend them to my friends and family.

Ty did a great job of accommodating my specific moving needs. I had my own moving truck for my long-​distance move and did most of the packing work in advance. I just needed some help and experience getting my stuff out of the apartment and fitting it in the truck properly. Ty and his co-​worker got the job done efficiently and in the allotted time. Part of the job required lowering a couch and box spring over a balcony rather than down a stairway those things would never fit into… no problem! I was so happy with their work, that I didn’t mind keeping them on the clock for an extra quarter-​hour, and I almost over-​paid them on their way out. It was great to see how they’d packed the truck with expertise when it was time to unload everything. Home Run advertises clean-​cut and capable movers, and that was certainly true. Thanks guys.

These guys know what they are doing. Ty has a good group and I recommend. Great work ethic and really great attitudes.
I chatted with Ty before I had boxed all of my stuff. I didn’t think I had that much stuff (10 boxes and a mattress etc) and Ty was ok with sending his crew over at the end of their day. However, once I got boxing on the day of the move, I realized I had way more stuff than I had estimated. Will and Jay arrived and were really good sports about things, working really, really fast and quickly adapted to the situation.
Basically, they didn’t get done until 11 pm instead of 7ish. To add to things, I am putting most of my stuff in storage, and had asked the storage company to provide 24hr access. However, when we went to leave, the code I was given didn’t work. They got locked in the yard after a long days work.
Both Will and Jay had every right to be ticked off, but helped trouble shoot the situation, and really made a tough day a whole lot easier.

We just had a brief encounter with these guys, but they were awesome. They delivered our couch from Liquidation Furniture, and they kept us up to date over the phone on the day of delivery about arrival times and so forth. Fast, efficient, and super nice. I can’t believe how painless it was.

We were moving from a far away land called Port Hardy back to Lower Mainland. (If you are a Game of Thrones fan, it’s like from The Wall to King’s Landing.) When we first moved from Lower Mainland the move was fully paid for by the employer so we had top of the line full-​service movers. But this time moving back to Lower Mainland, it was all on us. My hubby got quotes from the big long distance movers and our jaws fell. We decided to U-​haul it ourselves (reserved the truck but I was totally worried we would break our back, our foot, our furniture or the walls), but about 10 days before the actual move I decided to do some Unilocaling to see if I had any luck finding someone affordable. This is when my prayers were answered!
Ty was able to work up a detailed quote fairly quickly after I called him and we knew this was the way to go. It was double the cost of U-​hauling ourselves, but if I were to hire loaders and unloaders by the hour it would not have saved me that much more. Plus, we could use a professional’s experience in loading and unloading a truck for such a long distance. This proved to be sooo useful on moving day!
Ty worked up an itinerary and the schedule worked out well despite they went over by a couple of hours on the loading and unloading — which is not their fault. I had no clue we had that much to bring back because we had so much space in Port Hardy. They spent the time to play tetris with all our stuff and we were amazed they could pack so much.
The next day we got back to our condo in Lower Mainland and because of space constraints, I was directing traffic to put some stuff directly into our storage locker downstairs. That activity along with the annoying number of doors, turns, fob-​ing really added to the time. But during the entire loading and unloading process Ty and Jay were upbeat, careful and respectful. Our dining table was damaged due to some shifting that happened during the long haul, but he offered to either reduce the moving bill or bring us a replacement. We took the reduction because we were really short on space.
If you’re looking for an affordable and safe moving solution, I suggest you do your own packing and padding, but go with these guys for the actual load/​move/​unload. All of my fragile stuff that I have unpacked so far are intact and undamaged. Great guys all around. worth every dollar we paid them and more.
Ty told me he’s getting ready to grow his business and I really wish him well. My only advice to Ty is get more furniture pads because you may run into more pack rats like us! lol

Arrived on time. Jay and his buddy worked hard and tried their best to fit our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom into their truck. They spent a lot of time trying to fit everything, playing Tetris with our stuff, but in the end they had to make two trips as they could not fit everything in their 1 ton.
If you are moving over 1 bedroom maybe ask for 3 people and a 3 ton truck. It just took a long time for the job to be done because of the above and because they charge hourly it might have cost us the same with a bigger truck and more movers.
On the plus side both the movers were respectful and did not damage anything.
Note: they did not cover the mattresses in bags or shrink wrap furniture. They did cover furniture tops with a blanket once it was in the truck before stacking items on top of each other. If you are concerned about bed bugs/​rain maybe buy your own mattress bags.
For the hourly price ($ 75), the service was good (no damage to anything), of course they are not big corporate movers so the lack of mattress bags and shrink wrap is understandable.

My fiancé and I had a very tough move out/​move in day ahead of us yesterday coordinating multiple parties, 4 families, cleaning crews, etc. which was dependent on everybody being on time and hard working. Ty and his crew were definitely the right choice and thanks to Unilocal reviews!
He was a bit late fighting traffic from Langley to Kits, however, when they arrived we were still packing (since our prior tenant just cleared out at the same time). Immediately, Ty (the owner) grabbed his tools and jumped on disassembling the bed and other furniture, advising /​directing, we only had 2 hrs to complete a 2-​bedroom, 2 bathroom move before my cleaning crew showed up… they were done early despite all the delays. Ty was very helpful, courteous, friendly, most importantly provided accurate estimates and worked like hell to meet our very tight and unforgiving deadlines!
When he returned to collect his payment, we joked about helping us move our giant closet up to the third floor of our new place without slight hesitation dropped his gear and ran up the stairs before we could even say it was a joke. We actually did it!
Amazing dedication to the customer. I only wish more local business owners were as dedicated and honest as Ty.
I recommend Home Run Movers without any hesitation and if and when we move again, I will call Ty.

These guys are incredible. Total professionals. When they arrived at my old building (which was a 3 story walk up– and I lived on the top floor) I went down stairs to welcome them, And they RAN up the stairs so fast. And they never stopped running for 2.5 hours. Absolutely amazing. Ty was even so sweet to congratulate us on our nice new place. These guys are amazing. I would highly recommend them!

So I know we all have had that «shit time with movers» but I can say that with these guys I did NOT have that experience at all!
They were so great!
Ty the owner is a really stand up guy and super professional, there was no «extra fees» or anything. We paid what he said it would most likely cost in the consultation.
When they got to the house they took a look at what we had and got right to work. No taking there sweet time or standing around, they were so very careful with everything they picked up.
The way they packed the truck was great, making sure that it was securer so nothing would shift and get broken while on the road. I will be giving there card to anyone I know that is moving, and will definitely be hiring them back the next time i have to move.

Ty was very professional and organized. His team hustled and worked hard for my move. Everything worked out fantastic, they finished ahead of time, were detail-​oriented and the price was extremely reasonable. (I paid twice as much for my previous move…) Anyways, give them a call for your next move.

They were available on super short notice, they were extremely accommodating, very fairly priced, they were super patient with my frantic schedule and they came up with a bunch of solutions that I needed!
