Hungry Nomad

Pulled pork of the pulled pork burger was really nicely seasoned and spiced but the buns were really bland. Fries were nice and crisp!

Team Cogs came here for a pre-​exam lunch and I ordered a Beef Ragout (~$ 10) and this steaming hot mess came in a stew of beef, potato, onion, carrot, and more potato. Really though, this Beef Ragout could have been named a Potato Ragout and few would notice the difference because there were only around 4 pieces of beef in my Beef Ragout. I felt a little short changed since I’m sure their sandwiches which are cheaper have more meat than what was found in this large box of potato stew. That being said, everything stayed hot along my half kilometre journey from the Bookstore to the Swing building so if you need something on campus to stay hot, the Ragout can be a safe item to order. Otherwise, for about the same price, I think I’ll be sticking to Mercante if I need lunch.

Eaten from here twice over the last two weeks, overall pretty good. First time had the ultimate grilled cheese + tomato soup, soup was good (no flies!), and while the sandwich was also tasty and perfectly grilled, was a bit less than ultimate. I figure there was a single slice of cheddar in it, ultimate implies a bit more.
Not dissuaded, I returned for the beef ragout about a week later. The beef was so tender, and the broth was delicious. Potatoes could have been hotter, but I would definitely get it again!

I normally don’t write reviews but I just had to say something this time. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich today from them. It came with a tomato soup on the side. The sandwich tasted good and so did the soup. Everything tasted fairly on point, although the soup, i found, was a bit salty. When I got half way to my soup, I found a black thing in it. At first I thought it was a piece of grilled onion or bread that had mistakenly landed there but when I took it out with my spoon, it turns out, it was a big fly!!! I was so shocked and disgusted. I immediately threw away all my soup and the half of the sand which I was working on. As you can imagine, I then proceeded to brush my teeth for a good 10minutes!
I don’t know how hygienic their other foods are but I would advise you against from ordering their soups!

Pricey but the pulled pork sandwich is AWESOME. I love pork BBQ and their twist on the sandwich is great. I recommend buying a drink and side elsewhere to save money.

Pretty good snack rolling around campus. One thing was weird: I was standing there with a colleague and the tip jar said «Show us your tips!» After coming out of a pretty rigid lecture on gender in the general sphere of academia, I found it to be a kind of off-​color, tacky joke. BBQ pork was pretty good tho :)
