Located inside Kingsgate Mall at Kingsway and East Broadway. Great place for basic business fashions at reasonable prices. This mostly self serve since the customer service the times I’ve been in here have been little or no help.

Here in the often deserted Kingsgate Mall at Kingsway and East Broadway, is just the store if you are shopping for fashions for women who are neither slaves to the
latest trends nor looking for (true) size 4 clothing. That said, it isn’t all elastic waist pants and pale pastel cardigan sweaters. Tan Jay is one of Peter Nygard’s (the Winnipeg-​based designer) brands. I needed a gift for an elderly friend who lives in a retirement facility where laundry is labelled and has to withstand harsh washing conditions without shrinking or wrinkling. So I needed to find something that didn’t reveal too much skin and which would necessarily be made of synthetic fabric. I saw lots of pretty, beaded cotton tops at Tan Jay in the colours fashionable this summer and which had the very hard to find elbow-​length sleeves I needed but I had to keep looking until I found an on-​trend orange top in an easy-​care fabric. It cost less than $ 10 on sale ! They were having a buy– one– get– one– half price promotion and the second time I came back to shop I had the good fortune to be helped by Victoria, the manager, looking wonderful in a brightly coloured Nygard jacket which reminded me of Rio Carnival, with which she wore orange pumps. It suited her friendly, vivacious personality and exotic face. When I had to return an item because I had bought the wrong size she patiently explained the terms of the sale and allowed me to find a different size. This mall is a real potpourri of cultures and customers have a great variety of service expectations when they come in. Victoria handles challenging customer service situations with dipomacy and aplomb. My friend who was with me bought two pair of stylish sunglasses for $ 19 as well as a t-​shirt with a zebra on the front.
