I love this bar. It’s pretty standard as far as pubs in the area go, but it’s a Kitsilano landmark, and it shows. Jeremiah’s has been here for over 35 years(well over, according to some of the regulars I’ve chatted with in the pub), and so it definitely has a following of diehard fans –aka– certain gentlemen who have frequented the establishment every night for the last 20 years or more. BUT it’s also the closest pub to Kits Beach and relatively close to the UBC area, so patrons of this pub come from all over and all ages. There’s a lot of room upstairs(yes there’s an upstairs) and so they house a lot of teams in the spring – it can get quite busy on Wednesday and Thursday nights with volleyball and ultimate frisbee teams, we’ve noticed. Sure, the food is pub fare and a lot of the items are deep fried, but if you’re looking for super organic and low cal meals, there are plenty of other restaurants in Kits that would love to have you. Jerry’s is the perfect place for our Pub Night(my friends and I have been coming here weekly for years). We’ve made friends with the staff and even some of the regulars, to the point where coming to Jerry’s feels a little like visiting old friends. Definitely a Cheers-like feeling, which i love. When I want to try something new, I go out on the town in Vancouver. When I want comfort food and a couple pitchers, I come here. More info: they have a different drink special every day, and great deals on game nights(free drinks!).

As far as pubs go, Jeremiah’s blends in with the crowd. On game nights, the place is filled with a rowdier group than the usual«mature male» crowd. I do appreciate that they run contests based on who scores a goal with the prizes being free drinks. What bar can go wrong with giving opportunities for free drinks? I’ve eaten here a three or four times and most items are fried or deep fried. Yam fries are the edgiest thing on the pub-fare menu that also includes burgers and quesadillas. While service is friendly, I’ve occasionally had to wait with an empty glass. Jeremiah’s is definitely closer to being our last-resort bar rather than our local watering hole.
