Not as if Toys R Us could ever find space in this posh neighbourhood, so it’s a great option. Was in the area waiting for my meeting nearby so decided to kick some tires and see what type of present to get for my nieces and nephew, and glad I’ve got one down. They got these really cool tin lunch kits, and while looking for Sponge Bob Square or whatever you call it, i did find the Spam, totally hilarious. Tasty stuff, btw ;) Annoyingly, they’ve got a small Hello Kitty section in the back ;( And surprised they still carry some of the old Jellyhead stuffed animals. amex, yay!

I went in there with the intention of finding something cool for my niece, however, the more I looked around at the store, the more I forgot about my niece and bought some stuff for myself… shame on me. Even though I’m 30, I love Toy Stores and I’m not shy to admit that once in a while… okay more often that I should be admitting, I buy the cool things for myself. Let’s face it, there is a kid in all of us at any age. There were more adults buying for themselves than there were kids. Those with kids, used them as an excuse to look at stuff for themselves. I am very good about getting information out of people, therefore, got these adults to admit that there were enjoying this guilty pleasure. The cool thing about this store is that there is stuff for kids and kitsch things for adults. This is one of the best toy stores in the Granville Island kids market area. Bought a sandwich box for myself and some Gumby toys for my best friend Sharon whom shares my love for things like these. My overly cheerful attitude at 10:00 am on a Friday seemed to be too much for the lady at the til. She was indulging me to be polite, however, I could tell from her expression that she needed me to chill out a bit. I was just on a fun high, caffeine free. Toys can do that to you. Toys are like Red Bull to me.

Bought the wrong type of a particular item, not knowing it came in different types — realized something wasn’t quite right with it when I got home — came back with the receipt, the item intact — but couldn’t get any help there for a refund. Had to go home again, called the owner who proceeded to scream and yell. All that for 8 dollars? How do they manage to stay in business?

Oh my gosh this place is by far the best place to buy toys. They’re not too expensive, the staff is really helpful, the toys are awesome. There’s a really good selection of mid to high end toys. I’ve gone there a few times and went again today and way prefer it over the big box stores for sure.

I will admit that the rents must be pretty high in this neighborhood but Kaboodles is there to rip you off. Lego sets are 15−20% more expensive than those at the Lego shop in the Oakridge Centre. Furthermore the service is not great either. They don’t like kids looking around just for fun(my son likes to get in and check out what’s new once in a while). If you’re not a paying customer you’re not welcome here and this is not a neighborhood toystore should feel like.

Like another reviewer, I remember coming in here as a child, even when it was located across the street in a tiny shop. I would crane my neck to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous toy-filled window as the bus fly by on the way to school. The window is still crammed full of amazingly fun-looking toys, but now it’s about five sizes bigger and on the opposite side of the street(which was the coming-home side of my daily bus ride). If you need to buy a present for a kid, or a kid at heart, you will find something perfect here. Guaranteed. The prices are not dirt-cheap, but when the goal is a beaming smile on a child’s face, who’s to argue? Yes, if you have the time you can order things online and probably find them for cheaper, but if you’re not in the kid loop full-time, how will you even know what you want to get? Try Kaboodles — the friendly, helpful staff will be happy to make some recommendations based on age, gender and interests to get you started in your browsing, and they definitely have options you simply cannot find at a discount store.
