Ironically popcorn is the cheapest snack food to produce yet they make the killing by the flavored popcorn. I find it hard to dish out the money when I have an air popper at home and some seasoning for pennies on the dollar, however, sometimes I am a sucker for those candy coated«rainbow» mixes. Their buckets and packs are super $$$. I suggest going to the dollar store and buying a tin. Make dividers in the tin with cardboard. Then pop and season your own popcorn and take for guests.

Did you know you can get popcorn with flavors such as Bold Buffalo Wings, Jalapeño Jack or Thai Sweet Chili? Well, you can at a Kernels such as the one located in Oakridge Mall. Several dozen ready-to-eat flavors are available to pick from. OR, if you want, you can purchase some bottled seasoning powder to take home to sprinkle on your own popcorn. I try to convince my 3-year old that we can make butter popcorn at home for a fraction of the cost, but she insists each time that we buy her a bag. At about $ 5 for their smallest bag, the price is excessive considering what you are getting. But, I know rent at Oakridge can’t be cheap, and they have to cover overhead. It’s best to steer clear of Kernels if you have a child who loves popcorn, otherwise the visits to Oakridge can get expensive.

Pricey for flavoured popcorn that is just average. There is a nice variety to choose from but I purchased once and do not plan on going back. Service was not very good. The owner appears very arrogant and not customer friendly.

Been here for years. Used to order the double-hit a lot, a double dosage of one of human’s greatest creations, caramel. For a sweet tooth like me, more is better, thus the double shot ;) A few reasons why I stopped, which is a good thing, is I prefer the pecans, walnuts, etc. like in the states somewhere I had it before; plus spending $ 15 for a big pail, a big one mind you, is kinda pricey. I’d rather get 2 New York Fries poutine across the hallway there, but I digress. Good thing is their popcorn is gluten-free. Not quite in the food court, beside MMMuffins.
