Amazing value for the price. Very friendly service. The sushi rice was really tasty and the tuna cone was an incredible value. I would like to go back and order all the cones and try them all.
The concept of being able to order ahead for pickup and drop in and pick it up (because as many reviews have mentioned, there’s not much space to sit down) is phenomenal. Great hole in the wall. I’m from Seattle and that city could learn a lesson in offering a place like this.

This has got to be one of my favorite lunch spots downtown and would prob be my go to dinner spot if they didn’t close so early!
Kyzock specializes in donburi’s (rice bowls) and in my opinion offers up the best deal in town for uni dons! They also offer up several types of chirashi dons ranging from $ 10 to $ 20 depending on the selection of fish you choose! The rice they serve is also always on point! Nicely seasoned at room temperature and never mushy!
As others have mentioned, the store is quite small with 3 – 4 tables and a few bar stools. To beat the lunch rush, I like to order online and just pick up at the assigned time!

Good service, delicious sushi bowl and reasonable prices, what more can you ask for? I really enjoyed eating at this place though it is kind of small and not exactly very upscale. It was comfort food as its best. Food was warm, tasty, and portions were huge. Had the spicy tuna and salmon bowl which was very delicious and I really enjoyed the spiciness. This place is definitely great for a quick meal!

The sushi don is as good as what you can get in casual donburi diner in japan. The rice taste is great, the seasoning, very traditional. Nothing is altered to fit local buds. I would definitely come here everytime when I miss the visit to japan.

I am a huge fan of Kyzock. It is a tiny little place open for lunch and early dinner on weekdays only.
I was in a hurry so I took two onigiri, two boxed lunches (one with salmon and one with saba shioyaki) and ordered the dynamite temaki (buy one get one free if you check in on Unilocal). The salmon and wasabi mayo onigiri was wonderful and I loved the saba and salmon in the prepared boxes. The temaki was delicious and pretty large. The quality and price for these items were amazing.
Next time when I’m in town, I’ll get the uni bowl.

I like the food here so much. It’s very fresh and prepared very well. There isn’t a lot of seating so unless it’s just a few of you, plan on take out. There are 5 seats along the and a couple of tables for 2.
Overall, I’m happy to order from here. :)

The folks that run this place definitely know how to make good donburi! Not only is their seafood incredibly fresh, their cooked donburi is super tasty too! I got the Oyako Don (8.95) and it tasted as if the rice, egg, chicken, and onion were all steamed together so that all of the juices and flavours melted together… yum! The price is a bit on the steeper end for the portion size, but overall, it seems very homey and would probably come back anyways.

Vancouver has great cheap sushi but this is one of my favs in downtown area but only wish they don’t run out brown rice so quickly and would offer black rice options.

Delicious chirashi bowls! Fresh delicious fish! Good portions! The rice is well seasoned. Beautiful presentation too. Great place to grab a quick bite. Of course small like many Japanese places.

Came here for a quick bite one evening and tried the salmon and tuna don bowl – the sushi rice was really yummy and the fish was good. I’ve definitely had chirashi bowls with more fish, but it was such good quality fish that I can’t really complain. My dinner buddy had the beef udon and I tried some broth, which was pretty tasty. He did say that the meat left a little to be desired, though.
They seem to have a lot of stuff on their menu that isn’t commonly found elsewhere (like natto and sea urchin) so I would definitely come back to try some of those!

Straight from Japan, honest to god donburi making you feel like you’re in a train station somewhere on the main island after work stuffing your face.
Fresh fish, decent variety and hearty portions.
Strictly rice bowls, some pre-​packed dinners and assorted onigiri are served here so if you’re expecting rolls, you might be disappointed.
There are like 5 chairs in this joint.

My favorite no-​frills sushi spot downtown. Fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. if you are looking for a quick sushi lunch, you won’t find better.

I’ve only ordered delivery. So far every time has been excellent! Love that they have ume, shiso and natto on their menu. Fish is always fresh.

I’m always amazed at how much Japanese takeout places offer out of their small kitchens. The menus are always large with several feature items posted in various places, and an open fridge of pre-​packaged bento boxes, salads, etc is located right beside the cash.
I ate in one day, ordering a spicy salmon/​tuna chirashi don. It was generous and fresher than the Vancouver average, and quite reasonably priced. I took a sesame dressed arugula salad as well, which was delicious. The onigiri (triangular rice balls) were fresh and wrapped just as you would find in a Japanese konbini (convenience store), but the rice: fish ratio was a bit too high.
My only complaint would be that the eat-​in space is very hot! It doesn’t seem well ventilated. But given that this is mostly a takeout place, just the fact that they have a counter and a couple tables is a bonus.

Kyzock does NOT serve sushi rolls.
Not that it’s a problem though! I came here craving for eel and I was pleasantly surprised with a whole menu of temaki (hand rolls) to choose from. I ended up ordering the unagi temaki and the chopped scallop temaki, which were both excellent!
The chef was extremely meticulous with the hand rolls, making sure that there was filling throughout the entire roll. I was impressed that he managed to fit the meat into the very tip of my unagi roll, making every single bite delicious! The scallops were very plump and fresh, with an amazing fish roe sauce that perfectly complemented the seafood.
Even though the exterior of the restaurant seems a bit run-​down, the food is great and authentic! Next time, I will definitely try their hot noodle dishes. (Kitsune udon!!)

Zero One was awesome… fresh fish, easy online ordering, free delivery to the downtown and Olympic village
Now known as Kyzock (?), it’s still fresh and you can still order online, but delivery is no longer free (comes to $ 7.30 incl tax) and they no longer have rolls, only Temaki (cones)! They have a few other items like rice bowls, but NO ROLLS! Weird.

Great place for a quick sushi fix. The prices are reasonable. We ordered the combo sushi plate and it came out pretty quick.
My own complaint is the rice in the hand formed sushi tends to break in half no matter where I pick it up from and the soy sauce is way to salty.

This place has fresh authentic sushi. They are from Japan and proudly serving sushi just like a small sushi store you can find in Tokyo or Osaka. When I miss Japan, where I spent a few years, I treat myself to their unagi don and some sashimi. Try it!
If the store had beer, I would go there every night and give it five stars!

This place has an interesting pull, or lack of in my case. I’m reading these glowing reviews, but I’m really not feeling it. By all means, I don’t hate it; just don’t love it either.
I was desperate for some sushi before heading to a night seminar. As I march up Seymour Street, I recall seeing some sushi take-​outs along West Pender. This was the first sushi place on that block, so there I was.
It might have been an off night because the guys working tonight were not friendly. Sure, I heard a grunt as I walked through the doors, but that was it. Anyway, I was too busy looking through the menu to care. When I saw the prices, my jaw dropped. For such a tiny nook, they sure do charge generously. The common sushi rolls were named «Inside Out Rolls» on their menu, which I found quite amusing. So, I went ahead and ordered an «Inside Out Chopped Scallop Roll».
I don’t know what I was expecting, but «Inside Out» created certain unexplained expectations! I watched the sushi chef intently as he prepared my roll. I absolutely love the freshly mixed chopped scallops. Instead of having the chopped scallops readily rolled in mayo and masago (fish eggs) and stored away, this guy scoops some fresh scallops, tosses a spoonful of masago in there and whips out his handy-​dandy mayo in a squirt bottle. Impressive!
Finally, I get my sushi. I tried very hard to justify the $ 5 I had just paid for the roll sitting on my desk. I have a photo attached — check the photo album. I took a bite, hoping it would give me some inspiration to love my sushi roll. The chopped scallops tasted good, but there was quite a lot more rice than I would have liked. In the end, it was just your average sushi roll.
I won’t say that desperation will not drive me back here — for I do come around this corner quite often. Other than that, nothing to get excited about.
