History
Established in 1980.
After working with severely disturbed adolescents at a Provincial Mental Health institution, I began to work with a number of Employee Assistance Programs who would refer troubled employees for counselling. Initially my work was primarily with relationship issues: spousal conflict, parenting issues, separation/divorce, parent/teen conflict and life after divorce. In addition, treatment of anxiety and depression disorders have consistently been central to my practice. I opened an office in Vancouver in 1995 where I continue till this day.

Business Owner
I’ve been a practicing psychotherapist for 42 years. My approach began with troubled teens; then moved to anxiety disorders such as panic disorder syndrome and performance anxiety. My approach is essentially existential in that I try to understand the person’s dilemma from their own point of view rather than shoehorning them into a Freudian Jungian, Humanistic, etc. framework. I understand the counselling process as one of meeting and accompanying a person as they deal with the current obstacle to their ongoing development – whether that obstacle is internal or external. In addition to practicing psychotherapy I am a father of four adult children, an artist working in new media. I’ve also moderated a philosophers’ café for the past 14 years.
