I would say I’m a fan of this place as I finally paid them a visit like a few nights ago. I live in the area and never really noticed it there because there are so many other phở places close by and I haven’t heard of anything special about them. When I walked in it looked to me like they needed some renos. The walls are a bit yellow and they pretty much have an open kitchen kinda concept going on. There was only one waiter working at the time and about 4 tables occupied. Not bad because that girl knew what she was doing and is quick too. I ordered deep fried spring rolls and a beef ball and rare beef phở. My boyfrd had their house special. We both ordered a drink. I had a strawberry shake and my boyfrd had a green jelly like thing. The pricing isn’t bad for that you get. A small phở is about 7.50 and I think spring rolls were 3.95 for 3 of them. Not bad to me. They all tasted pretty good. Though I have to say I think the spring rolls aren’t as fresh. Like they fried up a batch and when people order it they just quick pan fry it and serve it to them. It’s because you can see that on one side it’s slightly more burnt. lol. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I still like their bring rolls regardless. And I look look forward to coming back and trying their dried noodles or sandwich.

I have no idea how this place got such a good rating. I just don’t. Hubs and I passed by the area and I recognized it as one of the best rated Vietnamese places in our neighborhood so we couldn’t not give it a try. My niece was also very hungry. My niece and I both got a small bowl of the #1 Phở and husband got a large Bun Bo Hue. Already we realized that there were problems with the service. The woman with the ponytail who was supposed to be our server stood chatting with another customer behind us for a long time after we were told to «wait» when we wanted to order. We had to tell her multiple times that we were ready. It was not a good start. Once the noodles came, just ONE mouthful of broth had me wanting water. MSG. Lots of it. More than any other Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The Phở was bland, salty, and disgusting. My niece didn’t want to finish her noodles. However, hub’s BBH was good, even though it too had massive amounts of MSG. I ended up transferring my noodles to his bowl when he was done and using the soup out of it instead. It was the first time that I had to do that but it was a better option than wasting my food. The server didn’t refill our water once even though our cups were empty and she was pacing around the restaurant for no apparent reason. We were wholly unimpressed and left asap. The only reason why it is not a 1⁄5 is because the BBH was still ok. 2 stars.

This place has been here forever and I really like it. I would say I prefer their noodles and phở than their rice dishes. Rice dishes aren’t bad but I find their grilled meat/pork portions on the smaller thinner side. Their rice dish actually comes with a side of pork soup which taste delicious and not full of msg unlike some other places. Reasonable price for yummy food. Service can be a bit slow because there’s usually only one server. One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in its neighborhood the other ones are horrible.

Honestly the best phở ever! Come here for piping hot, extremely flavorable phở everytime.

Price is very reasonable and they’ve got quite a selection of dishes to choose from(many of which aren’t available at your typical Vietnamese restaurant). Portions aren’t the largest I’ve seen but for lunch, it’s JUST right! Funny story, I saw some folks walk past the restaurant to try Red Wagon next door but when they saw the line up, they tried here and instead and looked extremely pleased when they left. I’m sure their wallets were happier about it too.

Good prices and good selection on their menu. I was disappointed in their BBH. There was no pork feet and it wasn’t spicy at all. We ended up adding additional hot sauce to our noodle soup. Next time, I’m going to order their regular phở instead.

My 1 of 3 go-to shops for Vietnamese food here in Vancouver. The phở is always served hot, with a consistent tasting broth that isn’t overly msg-ed.

They have the best vietnamese coffee of all the phở restaurants ive been to in van! Food is ok. Edible.

This little Vietnamese Phở noodle place is probably the sketchiest looking restaurant but probably one of the best in Vancouver. The soup base is pretty tasty and the noodles are great. My typical order is the #5 with the chicken sandwich… it’s pretty good! Two thumbs up!

Went here yesterday for the first time. Probably the best phở my husband and I have ever had. The broth has so much flavor. My husband normally fills his phở with a bunch of hoysin and hot sauce, but he put nothing in the phở here. The spring rolls are also good. You get a decent portion and they are full of flavor! This was probably the first time we ever got phở and once we were done, ordered another large to go. Amazing place!

If you’re craving for a nice, clear, non-heavy MSG laden bowl of phở, where you won’t be fiening for a jug of water after your meal then you should give the phở here a shot. It has an incredible depth of flavours, where the cooks take their time to simmer their broth for hours until it reaches perfection to serve, unlike the other phở joints in the neighbourhood that take shortcuts by inducing tons of MSG into their broth(I’m looking at you, bao chau and le petit saigon). I’d rate it as one of the best in Van(Song Huong’s phở is slightly better.) $ 7 for a large bowl and cash only. Their inhouse chili oil is pretty kickass too. Be sure to try their spring roll and spicy house roll. Tons of parking at the front and side streets. Family-run. Dropping one star cause the place needs new tiles and paint, starting to look run-down.

Solid 3.5. Another dime a dozen, but this one’s really tiny, feel like I’m sitting literally right next to a stranger, that little space between tables. Food’s more than decent and so are the prices. I pay just a bit more and head over to Le Petit Saigon about a 5-min drive. Free parking in front, just make sure you’re a good parallel parker.

Another Vietnamese place along East Hastings. Parking is available on the street(Hastings) outside of rush hour. There are also the side streets. The interior is dated, but looks fine. Service was friendly. Had the beef ball and beef steak phở. The soup was nice and light, there were a lot of green onions and cilantro in the broth, which is a definite plus. However, the beef balls were really weird. They were rubbery. Think about those bouncy balls you played with as a kid. Their flavour was off as well. The steak and noodles were fine though.

Meh. Maybe they were having an off day, but the soup was a bit on the salty side for me. Or maybe they’re just not known for the BBH. I might blame it on the extra sprinkling of salt & pepper seasoning that was doused on top. There was no pork hock or blood cubes or banana blossoms just those ham slices and balls of meat. It wasn’t a mind blowing BBH experience. Would I come back? Maybe. But definitely something other than BBH.

One of the better phở places around. Good soup, awesome Vietnamese subs. Rice and vermicelli dishes are good too. Oh yes, the spring rolls are top notch as well. Everything is great, you’re server will likely have a hard time understanding English but isn’t that part of the fun in going out for phở?

Le Do… Try the phở once and you will be hooked. Try the rice a second time and will so happy you may want to cry. Le Do is a couple of shops down from Red Wagon and puts up a fierce competition with Bao Chau. Le Do is a great Vietnamese restaurant providing you great meals, hearty portions at reasonable prices while uncompromising flavour. Dry Vietnamese Vermicelli with spring rolls and pasted pork brochette(sausage). Crunchy and flakey spring rolls with a nice minced pork filling. The sausage is grilled on the skewer and sprinkled with crushed peanuts. Usual garnishes of pickled carrots and radish to accompany. Mix in the chili oil and pour in the fish sauce completes this dish. The rice comes with a side water diluted soup of pork hock. It feels like Knoor’s chicken essence powder mixed with hot water. Now the star of the show — broken rice. One of the best in Vancouver. This lemongrass grilled chicken is delicious! The rice is dry, not mushy and fragrant. Shredded fried onions add a layer of depth and flavours. Add an egg so the yolk runs onto your rice. Smother it. Mix it. Indulge in the creamy goodness. Their minced pork and Egg Foo Yung is wonderful and it doesn’t have to be the unattractive Chinese-American/Canadian restaurant version that’s covered in gloppy brown sauce. It can be refined and neatly presented in a rectangle cake. And last but not least. Always check out their drink menu. Their drinks can be like a liquid dessert. Heavy coconut milk, red beans, jelly and egg white! Heavenly — Even in an unattractive little restaurant!

I came here on a rainy day with my ever so «helpful» significant other who always goes out of his way to satisfy my food cravings. Not sure if he secretly has a fetish for bigger girls(which I am quite on the contrary), but he seems to really enjoy watching me eat. It was one of these Bun Bo Hue craving days and he brought me here. He said this hole in the wall has some good phở to the point even our picky Unilocaler Johnson C. raves about it. We ordered a pork ham Viet sub and it was alright. The bread was a tad on the soggy and doughy side but no big deal. The pickled carrot and daikon were refreshing. The BBH was not bad. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but certain way better than Hoi An Café on Victoria Drive. The broth was hot when it arrived. The broth smelled and tasted right but I found it very salty. I was very happy there was no shrimpy or fishy smell to my broth. Beef slices were tender and fresh. This was definitely the highlight. There was no pork knuckle or pork blood to be found. The noodles were round and a tad skinny. They weren’t soggy so that’s good. I have yet to find out what the raving is about and I honestly think what I ordered was just alright. I guess I’ll have to come back and give this place another chance before I can finalize my like/or dislike.

I have to give props to this restaurant, and also props to the Unilocal application on my Android phone for luring/leading me to this fine establishment. Along Hastings there are many Vietnamese restaurants, and by habit people will always end up at the same place, not me, and I am glad I entered this little«hole in the wall» type restaurant. Just from the outside alone, you know what you are getting with the décor inside, basic and simple. Nothing fancy, this place is your typical bare bones minimum, with plain-jane chairs and tables. But when you enter, you get a good sniff in the air of the broth that is boiling in the back room. The menu is very vast, and the one thing that I found interesting out of all else is to be able to pick the size of dish, for the other dishes. I’m not tallking about the regular phở… where you have large or small, I’m talking about everything else, from the dry vermicelli bowls, to the rice dishes, they actually have a smaller order, good for us who want it, but sometimes cannot finish a regular order at other restaurants. Being able to order a smaller portion of one thing makes me able to sometimes order a side of something else. The phở in this place is a definite treat. The noodles are cooked just right, and the broth, is exactly what you smell coming in the door, with a hint of sweet, and the salty from the beef used to cook this magical taste, you will not be disappointed. After my first experience, I have come back to try other things here, like the spring rolls, and rice dishes, and do not be fooled by size, cause once the food gets in your stomach, it expands, and it is a great feeling sometimes, with the food served at Le Do. The prices are what you expect, cheap, for what you get, a great deal, they only take cash, like most places… but a $ 10 bill will get you fed up in no time. One of the gems of the Hastings block, so if you have not gone, and you live near, then go and be surprised.

I choose this as my favourite of the cheap Vietnamese Phở restaurants. Not fancy at all, but good broth and a good selection of lots of other interesting menu items. I usually end up ordering way too much, but am always satisfied. More than just phở. Their grilled pork, spring rolls and other options are all good, and the prices are awesome.
