Excellent icing and decoration on the cake! The cake itself was surprisingly really dry and layers fell apart when serving. It was still good but a bit disappointing. Perhaps this was a one off?

Delicious. Great texture and flavour. We’ll be back.

Our guests raved about the 3 tier cake which had different flavours (lemon berry, carrot cake, earl grey). Beautiful design, simple and elegant. It was a pleasure to work with you on the wedding cake. Would definitely recommend to others.

I’ve been going in here a couple times a week to pick up something small for dessert. Their Mexican spicy chocolate cookies (I think that is what they are called?) are to die for. Haven’t ordered a cake yet, but will as soon as I get the chance!

Le Gâteau has been my go-​to for birthday cakes for a number of years so when I needed a cake for a friend I knew exactly who to to call!
The birthday girl I was getting the cake for said chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake were her two favorites so I asked Tanya if she could create something that embodied those two flavours and… voila! She came up with chocolate cake topped with cream cheese frosting and filled with fresh strawberries! A definite winner!

Was looking for a cake for my mom’s birthday and decided to check out this place given the good reviews. Ordered the Earl Grey one and it did not disappoint. Delicious!

This little gem is located right next to the McDonalds off the Highway/​Cassier Connector where the PNE/​Empire field ends/​starts. By bus it’s a block from Kootney Loop (walk across the street and towards the PNE.)
The cookies are yummy! Tanya makes a lot of yummy treats at this location and I would not hesitate to try them out.
They have a case full of sweets and desserts in the front and it’s nice to be able to look at the back where they are baking and rolling dough. The cakes are impressive and they used to carry this really good granola.

Stopped by this small bakery shop as I had been wanting to try this place for some time. I see this place on my way to work everyday and finally made the effort to pick up some baked goods. I bought two cupcakes and two macarons. I had the earl grey and matcha cupcakes. Plus, a rose and a pistachio macarons. The cupcakes were $ 3 each and the macarons were $ 2 each. The icing on the cupcakes was amazing. Creamy, decadent, lightly sweetened and I can taste the hint of buttery goodness. The cupcakes were a touch on the drier and crumbly side. Earl grey flavour was very mild whereas the matcha flavour was very strong. The macarons were good. Both tasted as described and were well made and symmetrical looking. I will stop by to try more goodies as everything else looked so tempting to eat!

Le Gâteau is a nice little bake shop just east of PNE. I needed a custom cake made in the shape of a purse for my wife’s birthday in a short time. Tanya was willing to take on the challenge and was very accommodating to my requests. I ordered their red velvet gâteau flavor and it was very well made. Not too sweet and the texture was great. I would recommend this little bake shop to others who want custom designs done.

We had Tanya make our son his bday cake it was thomas the train themed.
She made us an amazingly delish vegan red velvet cake.
Everyone at the party thought it was delicious creamy moist and fluffy.
We ordered our cake only a few days before his party she was very accomodating. I asked her to deliver the cake at 5:30pm. She showed up early which is great.
I can’t wait to order future cakes:)

Haven’t been inside their shop yet, however, this review is purely based on their participation and sampling at this year’s cupcake throwdown held at Fortune Sound Club. I tried their Earl Grey cupcake which tasted exactly like the tea I love :) Very nice people behind the booth.

Exceptional cake when you need it… planned or not…
It’s my mother’s birthday. I had been meaning to call the restaurant to ask them if I could bring a cake. Since we were going out, I thought it was poor form to bring a cake, I should be getting a dessert from them. But then my aunt told me to get one because she had brought a cake there for one of her friends. Okay. SOLD.
I had read about this place because someone I know had checked in here. I also know where it is exactly because it was in someone’s review.
So I walk in with my hubby and I look at the cakes she has ready. An 8-​inch and a 10-​inch, both chocolate. Hmm… I hem and haw thinking that those two are way too big. I mean, I am feeding it to three seniors… they don’t eat that much. The baker (I have gleaned her name is Tanya from Roanna Z’s review) tells me that she can make me a carrot 6-​inch in an hour. Whoa… no need to rush. I am at your mercy. You can take your time.
We come back four hours later to pick up a beautiful cake covered in cream cheese icing. The cake was most with chunks of pineapple and raisins. I hate raisins. Nature’s candy pretty much sucks to me. Couldn’t even taste them. She told me I wouldn’t and she was right. The little sugar flowers were so pretty. Our server at the restaurant asked me where I got the cake cause it’s so pretty. I told her and gave her a hunk (my mom cut the cake in six and we only ate three pieces) to try. I then stole it out of my mom’s fridge a day later. So good.
Pricing is reasonable… I’m gonna go back and ask her to make me a cake covered in fondant.

Le Gâteau recently opened up about 4 blocks from my house, which is both convenient and horrible, because now I am going to gain like 500 pounds.
I’ve had the chance to try a few things now so I will do this in point form. I like being organized.
–The Ginger Molasses Cookies. These were pretty good. I bought them to see if I liked them better than the ones at Starbucks. They were different, there was more spice to them. I accidentally ate the whole bag and then I got heartburn but I kinda feel like it was worth it.
–Vegan Red Velvet Cupcakes. I sent my vegan roomie up the street to grab some while we were being lazy and watching movies. I actually don’t like cream cheese icing because I am some sort of freak, so these were way better than any of the real red velvet cupcakes I’ve had. The cake part was nice and dense, and the icing tasted butter creamy. It wasn’t too sweet, either. They were perfect! A bit on the small side for $ 3 each though.
–Vegan Mini Cake. This one was insanely fudge-​y. It was topped with a single blueberry and had a few cake layers near the bottom. I couldn’t finish my half because it was just so rich, but it was awesome. My roomie wolfed hers down immediately.
–Vegan Date Bar. I actually quite liked this. The flavours were mild so it felt more like breakfast than a dessert, but in a good way. I’d get this again for sure.
–Cheese Scone. I only ate a bite so that I could get this review started. I think I’m going to save it for later and melt cheese on it because it seems like it would make a pretty awesome late night cheesy snack. It seems a bit dry, but it is tasty! I’ll always suggest more cheese though.
I reeeeeally wanted the Cameo Valentine Sugar cookies. I’ll probably be back for those… they’re so cute!

Yet another fabulous little bakery on our side of town. This independent bakeshop is owner operated by Tanya M. a very talented young baker, ready to connect with you in time for your next event. Just east of the PNE on the south side of the street. If you’re any where nearby, plan to stop in and grab a treat. My treat was the peppermint marshmallows, something I adore that is gluten free but I don’t indulge in very often.

I first heard about this place on Unilocal,and saw some great reviews. Since it was new I felt like giving it a try. The owner was very quick to respond to my e-​mails which was a pleasant surprise to me.
The place is very small and easy to miss, so it’s best to park your car or get off a station close to the area. Especially if you have a horrible sense of direction like me.
The bakery is small, but there was a good amount of selection. Staff was pleasant, and efficient. I got my cake, and presented it to the birthday girl. There was only one problem. Her name was spelled wrong, and I didn’t even notice until someone else pointed it out to me. We had a good laugh about it, because I really should of noticed it first. The cake itself was actually really good. Nice and fluffy, and the cream cheese icing was nice and sweet.
I would recommend the bakery to those who are lucky enough to be in the area, but for those who are not, it is a long drive to get out to their location, and I would recommend it to people who want good custom cakes. Particularly the ones who want gluten free and vegan cakes. My friend wanted a gluten free cake, so this bakery was perfect for me at the time.

Stopped by today on their first day, the smell in there is amazing! Picked out some of my favorites (tarts & cupcakes), everything was delicious. They also sell full size cakes, which also looked tasty but I didn’t think I could do a full cake today on top of the rest, another time to be sure!
