Emmanuel St. Juste and Kristopher Grunet have created an innovative and fascinating gallery located on the second floor of Tinseltown Mall. Lumen’s philosophy is to «INSPIRE, CREATE + DISTRIBUTE artworks that are a positive representation of the moment NOW.» They are committed to representing and showcasing artists who use light as their medium in one way or another and the result if often breathtaking and unique. Lumen has a very unique set of art for show and purchase. Currently, there are dark, interesting photographs in dark, white and sepia tones entitled«Watching the Skies» by Jean-Guy Dallaire. These photos find emotion and instance in the ever-changing cloud and sky formations. Other photo exhibits include a pictorial essay of Southern India by Lawrence Blitz and framed prints of flowers from a different perspective by Lumen director Emmanuel St.Juste. Other mediums include fluid yet powerful granite sculpture by Joachim Schuster and back-lit photographs in framed boxes by the other director of Lumen, Kristopher Grunet. I was especially taken by the atmosphere created by the lit up neon signs and back-lit photographs in the dark space. Very mysterious and intriguing. Lumen also holds the Vancouver voters love for the Georgia’s Straights Best of Vancouver Award with Best Light Artist: Kristopher Grunet, Best Behind the Scenes Cultural Resource: Emmanuel St. Juste and Best Neon Gallery: Lumen. The people have spoken and Lumen stands strong and unique amongst the plethora of art galleries in Vancouver.
