Maximus Modern Barber Shop @ Coal Harbour

Such a great place to have your haircut done. Max who is the owner of the shop and hair styler as well is a super friendly and amazing guy. I used to go to hair saloon every 5weeks but now i am ending to go every three weeks because i am basically enjoying to be there, chatting with these guys and also have my haircut.

If you look for a great hair cut, you have to go maximus, they are very friendly and professional hair stylists. I checked some different places and finally I find them by Unilocal.Thanks for Unilocal and thanks for you guys, you deserve 5 stars review.

The places is nice and is great if you want a standard haircut. The staff is very nice and offers you a drink. They always engage conversation which is nice. But if you give specific instructions of how you want your haircut mostly if you don’t want it short they keep cutting and after the forth pass you realize you lost 80 percent of it and you end up with a standard short hair. At least this happened the last two times.

While my wife and I were visiting Vancouver last week I decided I could use a trim and found Maximus near our hotel. I walked in and was promptly seated at a chair by Danielle. Max came in and offered me a beer, which I’ve decided is now required when I get my hair cut. Danielle gave me a great cut and while we were chatting with Max, who really made my wife and I feel at home at his shop, my wife decided to have Max color and trim her hair. He ended up doing a great job as well. Great service and all done at a very reasonable price, this was one of the best experiences I’ve had at any salon or barber shop. Thanks again Max, we’ll be sure to see you next time we’re in town!

I have known Max for many years now. He is friendly and provides very good service. I highly recommend him.

Maximus is a master at what he does. I loved how he styles, a lot of precision and care. A true artist that treats your hair like a canvas. I am not exaggerating or hyping it up. I haven’t met a barber like him who is so passionate about his craft. You will leave this shop happy about how you look

Found this place based on Unilocal reviews and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Arrived around 4:30pm and within a few moments I was greeted, sat on the chair and asked if I wanted a drink.
Max did an excellent job with the cut and was really friendly as well. Definitely recommend.

Max is a classy barber. He remembered my name after not seeing me for five years. He also serves bevvies while he cuts hair and chats — always has, to everyone — as a friend and good host would. After a visit, I’m always told my cut looks good.

Max, who is the owner of this shop, is definitly an amazing hair stylist. He cut my hair and my hair chaged completely defferent. He is the first man stylist (I always asked female stylist to cut my hair because I felt uncomfortable with male stylist for 25 years!!) However, he changed my mind. We had a great conversation while he was cutting. He knows some Japanese language, haha. whenever he touched my hair, he was so cautious that I feel comfortable. Of course, the completed hair style was perfect. That was the best experience at a hair salon for my 25year’s life!
I strongly recomend everyone to try this special shop:)

I’ve been there twice now and both times had a great haircut accompanied by a nice conversation. The place is tidy and the whole staff is very friendly and helpful. When you walk in, they offer you free beer/​tea/​soda/​wine which I think is awesome. I highly recommend.

A great place to get a cut and great service! They are also well priced for what you get, a refreshing drink, a wash/​shampoo, hot towel, a consult, and of course, a cut and style.

Maximus (Max) is a great hair stylist who knows what’s in «trend», and what looks best on specific face types. Great atmosphere, including the music, tidiness, hygiene, and treatment given. Reasonable price as well. Also, Pet friendly! Great for those who need a quick haircut/​trim to stop by on their breaks, runs, or after walking their dog. I highly recommend!

A salon quality haircut at half the price! The level of service that I enjoy at Maximus is a rarity in today’s day and age. Can’t say enough good things about this place. (The complimentary beverage are a nice touch as well)

I heard alot of great things about Maximus and decided to give it a try. I am very selective about the salons which I choose because of the potential headaches which may surface from a bad experience.
I’ve tried most of the top notch salons in Vancouver and Maximus Barber Shop definitely ranks up there! I made an appointment beforehand and arrived about 10 minutes in advance. When I arrived at the Coal Habour establishment, I was pleased with the warm reception which I received. Max (short-​form for Maximus) was finishing up with a client but took a minute to greet me and offer me a drink — a selection of non alcoholic beverages, beer and wine.
Wow…this is refreshing to have such great service for a local business. I accepted a glass of red wine which tasted quite nice and full bodied. This definitely gave me a good impression as a start because it is rare to see this level of service in Vancouver (or Canada for that matter). It is only in very exclusive salons which offer this type of complementary drinks. :)
I was very pleased with my hair cut and styling. He trimmed just enough to remove the dry ends but used some type of product to give my hair that shine and sleek look. I should have asked him what it was… oh well, next time I guess.
Since I have very long hair half way down my back, Max also provided some suggestions as to how to keep my hair vibrant and soft, to bring out more of the shine within. This was a blessing in disguise because I wash my hair every day after my workout sessions — which makes it challenging to avoid some level of damage. Laura styled my hair with large curls which looked very sexy. :)
The price was very reasonable, for the quality of service and professional cut. Let’s just say that I left a really good tip afterwards! I also purchased my refill of the Moroccan Oil from the salon. He had a good selection of high quality hair products for my daily needs.
I will be coming back here again within the next few weeks for a follow up trim. I usually frequent the high end salons in Yaletown and downtown — but I prefer the personable and professional service here instead. It’s nice to be pampered and treated well. :)

Went here for a quick haircut very friendly staff and nice clean shop. The pricing was average and she did a good job. Certainly worth it and a nice walk to Coal Harbour. Definitely recommend.

I got my haircuts by Max since 2005.
He was my classmate at BCIT and when I got my first one at Davie St. (His old place), I told myself wherever he goes I’ll go to see him for haircut. So in last eight years I saw him once a month at least.
Every time I remember my other barbershop experiences, I feel lucky to find him.
